Vidor with 2 first down runs on this drive. 7-0 Lindale end of 1st qtr
-
Good open field tackle by the safety coming up, 1 on 1 with the RB dropped him to force a 3rd down. Vidor with the stop, let’s see if the offense can get it going.
-
3rd and goal they threw the jump ball, well covered but well executed. That may be there all night for them.
-
And then a rematch with Livingston after that... oh wait, one game at a time. What Lindale did to Palestine should be illegal, I'd much rather be playing them this week lol.
-
Yea he's going to be a problem but looking at their film, you cant necessarily just key on him. It looks like they have a balanced attack and can run multiple formations at you. QB can run and throw it pretty well, some decent WRs. We are definitely going to have to put up some points to hang with these guys. Can't have too many of those drives to the redzone that end up with nothing, seen a lot of that this year where good drives end up as a turnover on downs. Watching one highlight videos and their kicker made a 40 yard field goal, I wish we could do that on some of our drives deep into opponents territory.
-
Mabank looked ok in that video but man, they had a worse season than Vidor. They did have one forfeit though so maybe the Covid hurt them this season. I get it's a highlight video but I could see the Pirates break a few big runs against that Lindale defense, there were some big holes there. Then again they will probably move some of their best offensive playmakers to the defensive side if we start gashing them. Must be nice to have D1 athletes at your disposal in a winner take all scenario. If our offense moves the ball well, we will be in the game. What scares me is another shotgun spread team that runs the ball well. I hope we don't see another Splendora debacle again where simple draw plays to the same RB kills you all night, the defensive coaches better have a good gameplan for this one.

Kilgore ran all over them. What did they have 500 yards and 40 points? Is Vidor as good as Kilgore? Probably not. Can they be a very good team for one game? I think so. Are the defenses any good in that district? Maybe not, look at the scores. Do they have powerhouse offenses in that district? Maybe so, look at the scores. Tough call but I can’t go against the Pirates. How could I? I’m gonna fly that black flag until the day that I die. 🏴☠️

They finally ditched the pistol and changed the offense back to the old under the center style for the HH game and it started to look like old days again. We still make too many unforced errors with the ball handling at times. Can’t have any of that this week, got to clean it up. The one thing in noticed about that district is they have very high scoring games. Could there be a lack of good defense in their teams or just high powered offense, we will find out this week.
-
Anyone taking the Pirates here? They are definitely in a tough spot after underperforming in district play. But the team is finally healthy, they have improved and made some needed changes as the season went on. Will it be enough to keep the game close and hope to catch a break or two? Crazier things have happened right... haven’t they?
-
Yea I agree, our D is our strongpoint but they have game breakers. Hopefully we can at least move the ball well enough on offense to keep the clock running and give them long fields to work with. We started punting the ball this week with a kid who can boot it. Only had a couple of punts this week but they looked well executed and had Lumberton starting drives around their 25. The way we were doing the pooch punt with the QB wasn’t working, teams were getting the ball around the 40 way too often. It looks like Vidor has been working a lot on the kicking game, all 6 extra points executed successfully last night. We’re going to need that aspect of the game, if we are to hang close with a good team. Only discouraging thing is we had another failure on punt return this week that set the Raiders up for a score. That’s 3 weeks in a row, it kills the defense when you force a 4th and long only to be right back on the field. Or even worse give up a TD on the 4th and 43 from deep in their own territory, gutsy play call by the Livingston coaches. Well played, good luck to y’all this week by the way and congrats on the DC.
-
Yep that’s our best shot, play ball control. Get first downs, win time of possession and keep the ballgame close. But we can’t make any costly mistakes against these dudes.
-
I hear they have a stud RB who is going to Baylor he’s their workhorse, 35 carries 350+ yards 4 TDs vs Kilgore. To answer your question, yes they are a very capable passing team. This is going to be a tough task, I’m sure we are a huge underdog. By probably 20 points or more but we like it that way, upset special of the the century lol. We’re on a Remember the Titans vibe this week.
-
We are definitely going to need more of that next week. He needs to be wore out by the end of that game if we are going to have a chance. Lindale has some big lineman but our line play has been pretty good too this year. I noticed but I kept calling him 55 because everybody knows who that is.
-
Yea one of the players showed me the endzone view, it was the defender who grabbed the blocker and slung him. He went flying into the sideline and tumbled to the ground at the end of the play but we got the holding penalty.
-
Shoulda, coulda, woulda but if the refs don’t absolutely hose the Pirates last week and call back a legitimate touchdown. Vidor is the 2 seed going into the playoffs the way things shook out, shame. Maybe we make a game of our matchup though and get lucky with a few breaks to pull off the upset. The defense is going to have to play lights out though, the teams in that district puts up 35-45 points a game.
-
Lumberton having much more success against the backup defense. Right down the field for a TD some nice passes from #12. xp good 42-14 Vidor Final 20 seconds
-
TD Vidor after the turnover xp good 42-7 5:00 Updates if anything interesting happens but that’s about enough, people heading for the exits.
