1.
I guess at a private school you can have major improvements or dropoffs from one season to the next. Last year Kelly had Will Darling (I think that was his name) at QB and he was in his third year as a starter and was pretty highly touted going into last season. He's gone so I would think the passing game will take somewhat of a hit unless there is a stud to fill his shoes. When I saw Kelly last year in a scrimmage they just didn't have many athletes on the field, starters or backups, varsity or JV. Unless they got some new recruits, there is no way that they close a 40 point gap on West Sabine. A West Sabine team that was young last year and has 12 games of experience under their belt since last time the Tigers and Bulldogs met. They did lose an electric playmaker in Desmond Lacy, but the kid taking his place is a big time athlete as well. I think the days of Beaumont Kelly playing with and beating 3A and 4A teams is gone. Kelly folks may be amazed at the athletes that lil ole 1A Pineland puts on the field. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it, but I don't see Kelly keeping it within three TD's.
You do know that Kelly got a new coach last year right? The game against WS was his first game ever at Kelly and the Kelly team was also pretty young last year. This coach has now had over a year to get his system in place and trust me he has had the kids practicing and working with more discipline than any coach in recent years at Kelly. This Kelly team is going to be a whole new team this year. The returning starters have all benefitted greatly over the last year with the new weight training and conditioning coach at Kelly. And we do have a pretty good QB to replace Will who already got some experience at the end of last year. On top of that we had a basketball player who didn't play football last year decide to play this year and he will help a lot. We also did get a couple of transfers one reciever from New York who has looked pretty good in the scrimmages and a couple of linemen I believe. I'm not saying Kelly will win this game cause WS is a good team but I think it's going to be a lot better of a game than you think. If we get blown out by WS again I will be very surprised and pretty disappointed.

Saw it on their website [IMG][Hidden Content]]
they don't have the decals on the helmets yet but I am pretty sure it is gonna be like just the shield and cross and Veritas part in the middle in some sort of blue color.
 3. I was at the scrimmage from when Varsity started at about 7 until about 8:30. During the time I was there the way the scrimmage went was as follows. Hj offense vs. Kelly defense Kelly didn't allow HJ to move the ball to well. They never reached the end zone. Kelly offense vs. Lumberton defense Kelly was having trouble moving the ball consistently but got a few big plays leading to a TD in the end. Lumberton also got one interception during this match up. Lumberton offense vs. HJ defense Hj defense held up tight. Didn't give up a touchdown or many big plays as I remember. I didn't keep count but it seemed like each team was allotted about 20-25 plays on offense whenever they got the ball. Overall I think all 3 teams defenses looked pretty good. But on the offensive side I think all 3 of these teams still have some questions there. But I feel pretty confident after this scrimmage that Kelly will at least win a game this year.
 4. Hopefully Kelly can keep up their good play against Lumberton/HJ, I think it will be a good test. We had a good scrimmage against Warren but I'm not sure how good they are at all.
 5. Sounds like much improvement has been made since last season. Hope the results stay this way.
 6.
Sounds to me like the rest of the schools in this country could stand a little more "structured environment"?
most of them really could... Not sure if you were being sarcastic.
 7.
Last year was a pain to watch from the sidelines! I'm hoping that they'll at least have a decent season. I'm assuming senior Connor Moore is going be the #1 QB now that Will Darling graduated. If I remember correctly, I think the junior class this year is pretty athletic.
Ya, Connor will be QB and I feel like he will do pretty well he is a good athlete. And I also heard we got a kid that moved down here from NY or somewhere up there that is supposed to be a pretty good player. But we will see how everything ends up.
 8. I really have no idea. It obviously can't get any worse than last year. But for some reason I'm somewhat optimistic I'm hoping for about an even season that would be good improvement. The kids have been working HARD ever since this coaching staff got in full swing that's for sure, I just don't know if the talent/depth is there honestly.
 9. Anyone know if they still plan to post the previews?

Past success with other player that have recently moved on to play college ball that were highly touted prospects in their high school careers. 3. You probably live blocks from Ozen and us probably where all if your friends are going.  Being in a comfortable setting is quite important to teenagers. 4.  Why pay for the chance to play at a medeocre private school program when you can go to a really good private school program? And there are more.... 8) 8)
Souljah is speaking of a certain female player from Odom, I think. While others are speaking of (male)Shad from Kelly
ya I believe he is speaking of Alexis Morris. I don't know how this thread became about her. Haha
who is she?
Coach Brown is the Ozen girls basketball coach.
I know who coach Brown is. I'm trying to figure out what the girls coach at Ozen has to do with Shad signing to play college basketball? Haha

 13. I was informed this morning that yesterday Kelly guard Shad Wise signed to play college basketball at Murray State College, a Junior College in Oklahoma. Congratulations to Shad and best of luck at the next level.
 14. 2 players from the Kelly district were taken in the draft.
 15. Kelly is in spring training right now i believe.
 16. Kelly's district is actually very good. Possibly the best if you count it as southeast Texas.
 17. Sorry everyone for causing so much arguments just by saying Proctor was committed to Rice. I was just saying what I had been told and read on his Perfect Game profile. I do not know much about how baseball recruiting works. I'm more of a football and basketball guy. I knew baseball was different just didn't know how different. That being said I still don't find it hard to believe that Proctor will get a pretty decent scholarship at Rice. He throws 82 across the field according to Perfect Game, he has a good athletic build at around 6 feet tall, he has great fielding mechanics, and good hitting to. Not to mention he is a great student I've been told and it is even noted on his PG profile that he is a "very good student". Also it probably helps that his step brother Anthony Fazio just pitched for Rice a couple years back so there is a family connection.
 18. Ford Proctor at Kelly is a great SS. He is a sophomore and is committed to Rice.
 19. Im sure it is Tyler Toon. He moved back to Nederland. He was sure good back in middle school. I believe he started this year for Nimitz. Thats just what i heard.
 20.
In the 90s: Franklin Paul (Central) abusing Lincoln in a Jaguar win at the Beehive. In the 2000s: Every J'Covan Brown game I went to at Kelly. It just wasnt fair for whoever had to guard him.
i agree on J'Covan for most games at Kelly! I remember one time at St. Thomas we were running the clock out in the fourth in spread and the Thomas coach told all 5 of his players to get on J'Covan cause he was just dribbling circles around them and then he split all 5 of them and made a lay up! Haha. One of the funniest things ive seen in basketball. That coach was frustrated!

It would make me happy if he got the job as i think hes a great coach that could really help them and i also think he deserves it seeing all the work and dedication he put in at St. Anne and Kelly. However i doubt he will get the job just cause lack of experience.
I too, like what Coach Hartsfield did at Ste. Anne's and at Kelly.  However, how is that supposed to influence his selection at H-J?  Your use of the word "deserves" is curious to me. ???
no i didnt mean it in that way. I just meant that by seeing all the work and dedication he puts in and how much he actually cares about the kids i think he deserves the opportunity. Thats all i meant.

It may be a little off. Feel free to correct. This isn't a starting 5 just some players that come to mind: J'Covan Brown Taylor Mullenax Edward Persia Jude Messina Ryan Zummo Johnathon Brown Matthew Pace Keenan Simon Anyone who goes further back than me feel free to expand.
What about all of the Henry brothers?
the Henry brothers are definitely worthy of being on the list. Dont know how i forgot them. There was also a guy from Kelly that went to Fordham in the early 90's i believe. I cant seem to remember the name though.
