I would interested in knowing how you think the coaching style has changed? This is the same style offense Newton has ran since 1968. The same offense that Barbay taught to Jack Alvarez who taught it to Greg Neece. Westbrook the OC now played in this same system and learned it from Barbay coaching here as well. The style is still the same now what isn't the same this year that Neece had the pleasure of having was the 3 guys named Foster, Barlow, and Brown, as well as Noah Williams the year before. So those 4 guys can make any coach look really good. Say what you want but Newton doesn't have any of those guys on this years team not even close to that caliber. The offense is still clicking this year and scoring tons of points and putting up yardage. Just because you hear someone saying the same things over and over in the stands or on the radio doesn't mean they know what the play is. Just because you see someone pulling doesn't mean its the scat. Folks are getting ridiculous the problem with Friday was the fact that Newton  had 5 TO's and a couple suspect calls on some big plays that brought TDs back that they end up not scoring on. Newton is fine sit back shut up and enjoy watching these young men play. Get off the coaches back they are working hard day in and day out to put these young men in a position to be successful. No one goes to your job and tells you how terrible you are at flipping burgers or loading wood or driving a forklift so don't come to a game and yell at the coaches about how stupid they are or get on the internet and blast them behind a screen name. I will tell you like I told the last guy if you don't what is happening instead of hiding behind the keyboard go to the fieldhouse and voice your concerns with the coaches. If your not going to do that shut up and enjoy the fact that Newton has lost only 2 games over the past 4 seasons and appreciate what these kids and coaches are doing.

On the radio lol . Really

Wow, I knew Diboll was good but they are better than I thought. They are definitely a team that can wear you down in the trenches where most games are won and lost. I hope both teams didn't have any major injuries. I am sure both teams have droves of bruises, That must have been a real slobber knocker. Jasper will be hitting on all cylinders when they play the Mustangs.

Jasper was way overrated , Diboll is not very good , look at their scores in previous weeks .. idk why Jasper was ranked so high . They played nobody good I’m 2 years

  3. We don’t move up freshman very often. Newton has a very good defense returning . Slyvester 6’5 230 is the top recruited player in Setx. ,Watson,Gulley & DT 6’2 260 Clark all have FCS offers. Offense returns two big lineman Burnaman led the team in pancakes last season and Amburn 6’5 290. DB/WR Seastruck (Caught game winning pick is returning , him and RB Fowler return both have FCS offers. Nate Williams takes over at QB, he has good speed and has a great arm , brother of Noah willians 2017 state game mvp on offense . Nate is a Baseball star and has great accuracy throwing the football, got a lot of work during regular Season, Also plays DB. Newton did lose the star freshman RB that showed promise during playoffs( moved to Galveston) but Dillion Brown is a Freshman , brother of Tamauzia.

Newton is playing without #8.. He ran down breakaway runners at ease and could elevate to defend or catch a pass. Newton has played pass teams. That ref was pulling for Newton to lose by his non calls and calls against Newton from what I witnessed against Hemphill.  What other 3A D2 teams have played the schedule Newton has played. Newton will be ready when it counts. They are trying different formations and personell.  That ref should come watch the celebration @ AT&T in Dec. SMH..

Newton only unbeaten left in region 3 and 4 , really no competition until state .. Waskom maybe ,  combine score last two years the 2 teams meet in 3rd round 111-6   66-0,45-6.

It's hard to believe that two months ago, virtually everyone on the Forum was pulling for WOS & Newton to win State.  Now it's attack attack attack.  Primarily because of a couple of absurd post, or misinterpretation of other post.  No, no way, Newton beats Carthage last year.  That's a one sided victory.  No, no way, WOS is scared to play anyone (2014 3pt loss to 5A Foster 9-2, and KIPP the last two years, arguably one of the worst teams with the biggest cajones in the state).  Let's get over all this, and get ready to back both WOS & Newton in the coming season.  I just hope Evadale doesn't fill one of Newton's open dates :)

Don’t be such a baby it’s football and it’s all in good fun , these forums were created to talk noise not make cupcake comments

Even with 5 D1 recruits if Newton were to play WOS this year they would probably lose or it would be a close win by Newton.

FYI WOS has had more then 5 D1 recruits on campus multiple times, this is only new to Newton HS.

No they don’t bro sorry and Newton has pushed out a D1 every year for the last decade . It easy to see who has offers

  7. This is my question Newton has 5 D1 players and a couple of D2 , your telling me every larger school that yall think would destroy Newton has the same amount of recruits ?? I don’t think so , Newton has unusual depth for a small school , many larger schools have learned that over the years . Any coach should look at this like a challenge , their aren’t to many 4a or 3a schools with this many High Quality athletes.  This is a rare opportunity to play a good fast team, they will challenge you and maybe help you in the playoffs when you see a similar team.  . No trophy for going undefeated in predistrict .

Newton is a great program and I admire their willingness to play up by 1 or 2 or even 3 classifications...but as great as last seasons team was they would have gotten woodshedded by Carthage. In 2017 Henderson went 11-3 and was a 4AD1 top ten program...but 2 of those 3 losses was to Carthage by a combined score of 77-17. I do think Newton has a shot against Gilmer in week 5 but the Eagles lack of depth may hurt them against the Bux fast paced offense. If that game happened to be on a Sat in Gilmer (or maybe in Lufkin) I would go.

Newton does not lack depth , they have great football numbers every year . It’s not like Newton had D1 guys and no one else .. Newton is loaded like a 4ad1

Guys. I am by no means trying to slander these top tier 4A programs. I have not once said that these teams are scared to play Newton. I have not once said that Newton will beat these programs. All i did was state what went on yesterday morning. All i did was mention that Newton tried to schedule these teams and all of them did not agree to it for their own reasons. These teams are power house programs year in and year out. I respect and root for WOS every single year. All of these sensitive posters are twisting everything up! If you think that i am one of the many dumb Newton posters that are illiterate and just want to stir up the pot, then you're wrong by long shot. I do not think that these top 4A teams are scared to play Newton at all, but i do believe that they're worried that they will lose to a 3A school. If you think i got on here to call out teams, then you are very sensitive. There is no reason for Newton to have a 7 game schedule at this point when you have great programs around the area. They are trying to play teams around here so they don't have to travel 3 to 4 hours for a pre-season game.

Who’s side our you own , those powder puff comments don’t represent Newton very well .

If by "money-making" you mean that Newton fans would show up and lay waste to a case and a half of smoked turkey legs.

Newton doesn't travel worth a flip.  Their fans don't leave Newton County until the playoffs start.

the racist returns to trolling Newton posts , jealous of there success , Welcome back .

And we didn't know that already?   Hattie, who I KNOW to be an important part of the Newton program, has been on here giving the info on the games that Newton needed for a month here.  He repeated that today.  Heck, I forwarded the info about Newton's schedule, put on facebook and put them damned thing in a tweet that I attached a hashtag that meant it was seen statewide.

No, this was a case of Newton fan (AGAIN) who tried to get on this site and run some sorting shaming scam.  Have you ever seen Gilmer's strength of non-district schedule?  How about Carthage?  I'll clue you in, as outstanding a team as the Eagles have this season, for either of those schools to take on Newton would be a PROHIBITIVE drop in their strength of schedule.

I love the Newton Eagles, I hope they kick butt all the way to Arlington and back.

But this constant tugging on Superman's cape is gonna bring you and some of your Newton brethren nothing but embarrassment!

    Shaming scam haha that’s funny

While most of us recognize the value of choosing to play a good program like Newton in the buildup to district play, not everybody feels that way.

If you are a coach with big aspirations of moving on in your coaching career, it’s hard to do much with a bad winning percentage. Locking yourself into 2-3 guaranteed Ls each year isn’t a good way to get a better paying gig.

Plus, a big school playing Newton is kinda like picking a fight in a gay bar. You can’t brag if you win, but you’d better not lose.

Running from a fight , to scared to even show up .
