School has been out for several weeks, the last team in our district won the State Championship a week ago and yet we still haven't seen the 22-5A district honors list that was voted on just after district play completed.  Historically the list was released after the last team completed playoffs. I understand PNG should have their time in the spotlight and rightfully so. However those individuals that received District honors should be afforded the courtesy of being acknowledged like in previous years.  If anyone has the list can you please post it?

Has anyone heard about the honors?

 

Congratulations to PNG for their run to the 5A State Championship.  Now that they have completed the season, does anyone know when 22-5A District honors might be released?

I am from Lumberton.  My son played for Coach Davis for three years and we never had any issues with him.  I consider him to be a good coach and wish him the best wherever he may go.  Good luck Coach Davis.

Ryan Smith and Trace McManus, Jr's, from Lumberton are also on the underclass team.

Judging by the names that made it, it sure seems to be the same as the ones featured on the TV stations sports news.  I would think that more writers or coaches should be involved.  Just saying...

Answered my own question.  Straight from UIL Post Season 2016 packet:

 

2. Inclement Weather: Every effort must be made by both teams to determine the winner before the certification deadline. This includes obtaining neutral sites and securing any available site. This could mean giving up a home field advantage if another site is playable. 2 If weather conditions make it impossible to determine a winner before certification, UIL must be contacted for an extension. The next round opponent(s) must also be contacted to inform them that the deadline will be extended. Extreme scheduling difficulties such as those mentioned above could result in a coin flip which would determine the representatives to the next round.

 

I've heard several different scenarios for determining who moves on if a game 3 can't be played.  Coin flip, revert to game 1, runs allowed, runs scored.  What does UIL rules say?

UIL shows Lumberton is in 3rd and plays Barber's Hill.  UIL shows Nederland and Vidor are playing for 4th and winner will play Crosby.

Lumberton won the coin flip and will be 3rd seed.  Vidor and Nederland play for 4th.

RaiderGirl92, three (3) of those runs on 'our jv'  were the result of varsity pitchers throwing in the JV inning.  The varisty pitcher loaded the bases, walked the next three consecutive batters for 3 runs and left the next varsity pitcher with loaded bases to deal with to get out of the inning.  That's what scrimmages are far, to take a look at players before the regular season starts.  Regardless, it was a good job by both varsity and jv, but please don't hang all those runs on jv.  Evadale kept at it and almost came back for the win.

Congratulations to the Texas Sun Devils (14U) of Beaumont for winning Cajun Classic Championship XXXV in Baton Rouge last weekend.  All of the boys did a fine job. The team beat the Vision and Bullets to advance to the finals with the Crusaders for the Championship.  Final score 5 - 1.  Good job guys !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Matt, Derrick, Romie and Glenn.

We were wondering the same thing.  I know that several players from last year's team have not been called.  Now seeing that someone else from the tryouts hasn't been called, I'm assuming no one has been contacted yet.  Wonder what the hold up is?

Just picked up my custom gloves.  A red/grey catchers mitt to match my son's catching gear and a purple/gold LSU infield/outfield glove for me.  Absolutely amazing workmanship.  So good, my son had to have a cream/brown fielders glove after I texted pictures of extra gloves.  All gloves are one of a kind.  Best part is they don't have to be oiled, after a couple of games they are broken in.

Larger field was a concern, but he has done very well.  He plays league ball in District 12 and would like to take the next step.  Worked with his trainer the entire off season, usually once a week. 

13U player currently playing league ball.  12U All Stars last year.  Currently is starting catcher, but has played other positions, including pitcher, 2B and outfield.  Working with a trainer weekly refining catching and hitting skills.  Trainer is a former College Catcher.  Send pm, email or call (409)273-2537.
