3.
The biggest thing is I hope the kids can get some support for the team at home.  I know like you have said in your messages they are building it brick by brick.  That can all be undone real quick if they go home and their parents sit there and bad mouth their coaches.  I didnt go to school to coach, i choose a more labor intensive job (of watching a screen at a plant) haha.  So really all i have are my opinions and have to believe that these guys really have my son's and the teams best interest at heart not some petty favorites or whatever. Fear the Goose - Brick by Brick
I never bad my the coaches in front of my son nor do i teach my son to disrespect his elders he will do anything that coach boyd asks of him and be proud to do it. The thing is that my son and a few of the players on the team have been playing together since they were in optimist and i have never seen them hang their heads until now. there is a problem somewhere. my son is a junior he has another year to play and i just like you want the coaches to have my son's and the teams best interest at heart. I'm just going off what this group of kids are telling me.
You do have a great point about the RB from last night, he didnt want contact you could see that.  I think we would actually be at our best if it was by committee, like who has the hot hand.  That way everyone is fresh.  What worries me more is the lack of a dominant FB. Im still not sure which starters on defense you are talking about.  From what i saw personally at the game was a couple get hurt.  Plus we gave up 31 points in the first half so i dont think anyones job should have been safe in the 2nd half.  I think it should have been the 11 most committeed to tackling the ball carrier not just falling down. We have got to find away to get our defense solid.  It really comes down to the kids wanting to make tackles.  Nobody can do that for them. I also am not sure which players you are calling favorites.  I think you said earlier your son is a senior so you have been around longer than me to form that opinion.  Also not sure who keeps getting broken down, all i get is information from my son. I think that we are still headed to the playoffs if we can keep laying those bricks.
I agree that whoever has the hot hand should play and yes we do need to learn how to tackle but I am a firm believer in the phrase " you play like you practice" with that being said if the kids never go full pads in practice and learn how to tackle then that transfers to the game. Ive also noticed that a lot of the guys are being moved around a lot on defense IMO you get better with repetitiveness not so much switching positions week to week. But hey I hope we can get things together and make the playoffs.

[/qu Gibson played more than one play on defense. Probably played close to a full quarter here and there. Jamar is not playing because of Jamar. For people to assert that Coach Boyd does not want to win is crazy. Not even going to debate the issue.
you have to build kids cofidence to get them to give you 110%, not break them down everytime they make a mistake.

IJS P.S. I needed to get this off my chest. sorry if I offended anyone but C'MON MAN!(and this is not all but I will stop here.)
I dont want to get into an argument here because we need to be unified like our boys but like you said i need to get it off my chest too. What starters did you see pulled at halftime last night.  I saw more subs having to be made due to injury or fatigue or to be coached up.  I never saw players being pulled because the team or the coaching staff was giving up. That is a good point about the RB's, we do have some players at RB's.  I think it was one of the best coaching decisions of the year to switch the kid to RB that started last night.  The one from last week (George Ranch game) doesnt have the speed to take it to the house like the one last night did. You point out the Stud WR, the problem is he has been around in like 2 weeks because of off the field problems (not going to air his business).  You have to be able to count on a kid.  Crazy talent though. The main problem i see was it was a game where we were going to have to play close to mistake free football and we didnt.  That is a very good TC team with a ton of athletes.  The fumble drive and in the int that hit the WR dead in the hands was way to costly. Also not being able to hold their offense for a min right before half allowed them to open the gap to 14pts when it should have only been 7 or maybe 4. The GCM teams that i have watched the past two years would have given up when it got touch, this years team is showing  more heart than that. It is still a long district season and we will be in the playoffs. Fear the Goose cause its coming for the Ganders.
you are right the kid does have speed that he started last night but that kid does not like contact. you can not play RB if you can't take a hit. so you are telling me that it is better for the team if the kid breaks one big play than to have another kid that can play the whole game. and yes there was a least three defensive players that did not play after halftime.by the way the kid that played RB against(GR)took it to the house on them and the other two RB's can take it to the house also. the  other is faster i agree totally but he is not a runningback. coach boyd has a lot of talent in a lot of kids on this team but IMO he has his favorites and you can not win like that. people just turn the other cheek to it and im just fed up with it. by the way this is not an arguement because i just want the kids to be sucessful. just my honest opinion .
 7.
Please help me out and give me your opinions. I had great Coaches growing up as a kid, most of them are now my friends. All Coaches have different styles and philosophies. We also all agree, Coaches want to win and be successful. I have noticed two different Coaching philosophies that stand out to me. First one is the Coaching philosophy of, I as Head Coach will play my most skilled, star studded players as much as possible and they never come off the field, only on special teams maybe. I sure as heck give them the ball on key critical downs. I feed them the ball early and often. I feel like with that philosophy you give your team and players a fighting chance to be successful and victorious all the time and especially on key critical downs. The second Coaching philosophy is the one that involves playing totally within a system, that is based heavily on rotating your players and keeping them fresh and healthy above all. With this system you are in a kind of russian roulette of sort, meaning if you have a 4th and 1, your best player (rb) will not always get the ball, it will be which ever one of your 3-4 backs is due to rotate in. In my opinion, the first philosophy works best, especially when facing bigger more talented schools. It means to have your best skilled players on the field at all times and give your team a fighting chance to succeed. Give that star player or players the ball early and often. With the second philosopy your 3rd string or 3rd best RB could be carrying the ball in a critical moment, how fair is that to the team, is that a fighting chance? Please guys, give me some feed back. I need your help. Thanks.
I can totally relate. I try not to complain because I am not a coach but it comes to a point when enough is enough. It's pretty bad when you have women fans in the stands hollering at the coach. I know nothing will change but I'm just trying to understand also.

 14.
You either have the will to be a champion or you dont. I don't feel sorry for these types of athletes. He is old enough to know what he could be throwing away so I don't blame the parents either or lack thereof. Sometimes the person is just too lazy, unmotivated, or just doesn't really care. Whatever it is, every person his age is faced with choices. Do I study an extra hour tonight for this exam or go cruise the town with buddies, do I practice trombone or play video games, etc. You can say well he's a good kid that's made poor decisions, but at s a ome point you have to rethink that and maybe he just can't stay out of trouble.. We are all responsible for decisions we make. No sympathy at all from me..
I agree that life is all about choices. But some kids just need a little more guidance than others.IMO. Jamar is a kid who has adapted to his surroundings(McNair,tx nothing but trouble there). With a strong father figure IMO this kids life would be much different. Sad story to me because I grew up in Barrett station and I seen a lot of talent go to waste because of this type of similar situation. :'(
