Earlier this morning you had not heard ANYTHING on the H-F hoops coaching hire. Now, a couple of hours later you know who the hire will be and further, you know how the dominoes will fall in the coaching musical chairs game. Absolutely amazing. ::) 8)
There you go placing your foot in your mouth again... ::)...I said I had not heard anything publically about the hire, but I have heard some things that were not verified...THATS why I was asking to see if anyone on here knew anything or had heard some of the same things about it...Why must you take every post that I make and go through it with a fine tooth comb? I have no idea who they are going to hire, but I do know that if a coach that is already in place applies and gets it, THAT causes a preverbial "domino" effect...Geez... ::) ::)...talk about incredible... ::)..my goodness....
And there you have it from the acknowledged USA Champion resume' builder. :D
Sorry if my knowledge is still intimidating to you.... ;)...In all seriousness, this IS a step back for him...NJCAA D-1 is a solid stepping stone to NCAA D-1 coaching...Especially in a conference like region 14...NAIA is great, but winning big and having a solid program at the NJCAA D-1 level holds more weight in trying to move on...I wish him luck, but obviously there were some big time issues that forced this move..Obviously.

Tough or Weak Non-District Schedule?
Dick Vitale replied to Steven_A_Smith's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First of all in an area such as SE Texas, in the pre district, it is tough to schedule teams further than Baytown or Houston, for budget reasons. There are only so many "quality" basketball programs in this area, so scheduling games here is just so that your kids can PLAY before district starts. It really does not matter how tough or weak your schedule is, your team will perform against whoever they line up against if they are prepared. Some say that teams need to be tested, and in SOME aspects that may be true, but, if you as a coach are emphasizing improvement, you will be able to measure your teams success against whoever they play. So, to answer your question, does scheduling matter in the big scheme of things? Not really... -
I said slightly softer, not more difficult. We plan to avoid "real basketball" at all costs.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D -
Schedule? Yall beat up on Big Horn, Red Creek, Buna, Dayton & Barbers Hill ;D That ain't no schedule, those are called scrimmages.
We plan to make next years schedule slightly softer.
Dang who are you guys gonna play in that case? South Park Middle School home and home, Vincent Middle, and play in the CO Wilson MS tournament? ;D ;D ;D -
Just trying to get YOUR enlightened definition, sir.... 8)
Hj has been 7 of the last 10 years. Are you confident that Ozen has been there 8 or more?
This year made 7 of the last 10...starting in 2002...(02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 12)....I was counting 2001 initially, but that would have been 11 years ago now...So in the last 10 years, HJ AND Ozen have the most regional tourney appearances.. 8)....CORRECTION THEY DO HAVE MORE! I forgot about the 08 appearance where they lost to Yates in the regional semi in Katy....8 of the last 10 years, Ozen has been to the regional tournament...I STAND CORRECTED BY MYSELF!
Thanks Dickie, didn't realize Ozen had it going on like that. I just remember Ozen in the playoffs during Perkins' years and one year they met Wheatley.
Yeah we beat Wheatley to go to Austin in 2001, then they lost to them in the 2005 Regional...missed 22 free throws that game and lost by 2...missed 17 in the second half, including 5 in a row down the stretch that cost them the game...Wheatley wore them down with the pace, and hard fouls, and they could never get the tempo controlled..They were 34-1 that year...8 out of the last 10 regional tourneys, Ozen has been there...HJ who? ;)...(thought I would give you a little ammo, BD!!) ;D
Hmmm? I may be way off my years now. So what year was Chappell's last year? I think they lost in Final two his last year. So, what did Ozen do during DeCarlos' regime?
Brandon Chappell finished in 2002 when we lost to Dallas Lincoln in the State Championship game. DeCarlos Frank's freshman year (2007) they also made it to the State Title game before losing to Dallas South Oak Cliff...His sophmore (2008) year they lost to Yates in the regional....His junior year they lost in the 2nd round to Huntsville, and I am not sure which round they lost in his senior year, but they didn't make the regional tourney.
2002? Dang! That long ago! I saw DeCarlos play in two high school games during his career. Now that kid was truly a pure basketball player.
Decarlos Frank could have really been a big time player...he had big time talent.
