Talked to a friend this week that said coach stump was mad at coach Matthews last week for running up the score on them.  Just wondering how much difference there is in a 38 point margin and a 35 point margin. 

I haven't heard of anyone from Vidor quiting.  Who was it?

Who is the new kid for Vidor.  He played lb and rb?

Vidor did it in '99 and '04.

it is just sad to me...i don't really believe he stepped away because of his knee.  I believed he stepped away because he knew the new supt. and several board members were waiting for him to slip up.  Coach has not missed a day since he has been here..he hurt his knee last year at practice..had to go to hospital and was back the next day.  I learned through athletics that It is not about me...I was taught that it was about the team..Several people within the district need to realize that it is not about them.  Because they were selfish..the whole team will be hurt...Thank you Coach for being a role model and for making a difference in our kids life.  I am sure the you will have plenty of people apply for the job, however I doubt that any of the coaches that complain from the stands would even have the courage to stand up and apply.  They would rather sit back and second guess a decision they dont have the courage to make...

bama kid ,  did you every work at Vidor High School.  You sound alot like a guy who used to work and coach while you were writing for the Vidor newspaper. 

Mathews left to be with his future wife at atm, not because of the code.  Ask anyone that knows him, he still follows that same code.  Coach Mathews had said in several interviews that Montana reminds him of his brother. 

Heard the same thing about only having 2 teams.  Saw Coach Matthews yesterday at walmart.  He said that their would be 3 teams.  He said 2 teams was never an option.  He said that the new coach wasnt hired until Friday, he also said that if the coach hadnt been hired, that he would have moved another coach to make it happen.

Why would they drop games then post to find games?

I agree with his open door policy.  as far as him treating some kids better than others, I dont see that happening.  However, knowing Coach the way I do, he would love to fix his relationship with you and "the 12 others".  Why dont you call him and talk with him.  Do you not think he would sit down with you and try to fix the problem.

Wow,  funny I played for coach Mathews from 1999-2001.  He still calls me, He still hugs me when he sees me.  He does the same with every former and current player I have ever seen him come across.  The only former players that do not like him are ones that feel like they did not play enough or in the right position..  I remember one thing he told us..Please dont judge how much I care about you by the amount of time you play.  This thread was started to thank him.  Dont try and bash him because of the playing time you did not receive.  50 kids on a team only 30-35 get to play..
