  1. What are some of the ways players are getting around the UIL transfer rule? I know the rules states you can't transfer because of sports, but I betcha players are still doing it and getting away with it.
  2. Okay, it's the 17th of Oct. So now it's one week away???? I've got the "jones" bad for some Bball. It's so bad I watched Georgetown's Midnight Madness festivities last week. But not one single ball did I see bounce on the floor.
  3. I don't see Hamshire-Fannett ranked here. Sure a top 12 contender.
  4. man, what about Hamshire-Fannett? Where is the respect? Hmmm? By the way, who is the coach for H-F and his credentials?
  5. I have seen guys who have made great strides in improving their games over the summer. I cannot count the number of times I have seen players who may have played against each other in the past and the previous dominant player get his tail kicked for believing his opponent 's game hasn't changed. Basketball has a way of balancing out a player's game once his mental and physical skills began to mesh together.
  6. I can't wait till the 2012 season. H-F will have some bragging rights with the crop of kids we will have playing. Then we'll be able to come on here and brag about our team along with the rest of the other power teams in the area ;D
  7. Dang, Oct 23rd is too long-gggg! Man I'm going through some serious withdrawls right now.
  8. 1. Wheatley-1969 2. Wheatley-1970 3. Wheatley- 1973 though they lost in State Finals Men among boys
  9. Me Too! How does Hamshire Fannett look this year? Think we can challenge Hardin-Jefferson this season ;D
  10. hMM, maybe we better name the pros in European ball too!!
  11. Someone mentioned "small school" and it reminded me of a question I've been wondering about. If you happened to have a kid to grow up and becomes really good in basketball & possibly D-1 material, do you have him play at a larger school or keep him at small school (2A OR 3A)?
  12. I can verify that the 1970 Wheatley team out of Houston were dunking in Junior High school, actually the school was a basketball factory disguised as a school. So maybe they should not be in the poll. Those guys were super-humans.
  13. I've never seen Ryan play but I did hear that the major D-1 schools were not lining up at his front door. I'm curious as to why he wasn't highly recruited? Too slow at the guard position? Or maybe the schoolPlayed at too small school? I've been told by several insiders that coaches are now attending the AAU touRnaments santioned by the NCAAA as their primary recruiting tool. Surely Ryan is playing AAU in the major cities for exposure?
  14. I saw a team in the area from Nederland or PN-G with some big fellas. They were probably in the 8th grade. Man, if you guys can find some good guards to match the size, that area may have some good teams for a few years. I certainly hope the big guys are playing strong competition somewhere.
  15. I bet it was a situation that flared up because the wife found out about the girlfriend. Baseball was just in the way.
  16. I have to admit this was our first year being involved with Little Dribblers and the only Senior team I saw was Beaumont and Hamshire-Fannett. If I remember, Beaumont had a decent Senior team with good size. The one thing I noticed about Beaumont is that they didn't have great atheletes, but good hustle to make up for this. Spurger Seniors must be a good team to beat Beaumont. Hamshire Fannett Seniors? Well thats another story. I found out you really can't gauge your team until you began playing Regionals and you better have your weaknesses fixed by Nationals, or a a good team will exploit it.
  17. Hey wait a minute! You guy's had me thinking our tennis team was worthless. I read in the paper where they won something the other day. They must not be all that bad, right?
  18. Wow! Sounds like you guys ran into some good close nail-biting games up there. Congrats on a good season.
  19. There is a yahoo group where coaches are always looking for players all over the country. There is an AAU team in the Mid-County area, but I am not sure of their age groups. I think it is selectbasketball yahoo groups
  20. The one thing I have found out about parents is that most of us think our kids are better than everybody's kid. I remember a couple of years ago, a former pro baseball player transferred his son from another school to Lamar and he expected his son to play. Gilligan never played the guy but his dad could not figure out why his kid wasn't playing at Lamar. The kid finally transferred to a different school.
  21. As of 4-4-07, here is the schedule for the local teams at the national tournament scheduled for April 24-28, in Brownfield, Texas. National Majors: Nederland vs Navasota Bmt. vs Tyler ______________________ National Juniors: Navasota vs Barbers Hill Bmt. vs Bryan ============================================================= American Majors:Hamshire-Fannett vs Livingston Twin County (Hardin-Jefferson) vs Bowie Kountze vs Van Vleck -------------------------------------------- American Juniors: Mexia vs Cleveland Livingston vs Orangefield Hamshire-Fannett vs Coldspring Kountze vs Seminole
  22. Anyone have info on the Nederland Regional Tourney for the Juniors? I'm curious as to who came in 1st and 2nd place. Thanks
  23. Majors: 1st-Van Vleck 2nd place - Hamshire Fannett Juniors: 1st-Hamshire-Fannett 2nd - Cleveland Seniors: I think Van Vleck
  24. I always thought the best two teams during the tournament went further. I didn't realize winning a consolation round would send you to the big show. I always thought the championship game determined the best two teams. And the co-champion would represent as well. But I guess we are living in new times now.
