1. And as I mentioned before, you can't compare Tech game versus Lamar. Tech played down to Lamar's style of play. Obviously Tech showed what they are made of against A&M. They well enough to win.
2.
I agree with doc here. I have some information about money already pledged for Lamar University football and there is NO WAY LU hires a HC from high school. If they do, then I question the research Billy Tubbs recently stated they have invested into the possible return of football at Lamar University. Question, would do start a multiple million dollar company with a sharp young man with a bachelor's degree or would you hire an experienced older man with a master's degree? I say, hire both with the promise of promoting the younger man once the older man decides to move on or retire.
Thats already been done with the present day basketball coach & Tubbs. The jury is still out on this move.

I find it hard to believe SFA and Mcneese will not follow. The slc could look like this in the future. Lamar Delta st Tarleton st Mid-western st Nicholls st Houston Baptist UTA Okay, the question still remains, where would Lamar go? I say Lamar will remain for a minimum of 10 years, if not longer. I still say Lamar came running back to SLC to find it's glory days. Well, those past days are long gone. LeTourneau Abilene Christian LSU-Shreveport How many good recruits would choose Lamar.
This will never happen with us in the conference. Otherwise we would win it every year and be out in 5 years.
4.
I guess it is all relative because I have seen them when they were REALLY good.  Since I KNOW that they are not what they used to be, it may be the reason why they did not impress me much at all.  On the other hand, If you don't know much about the programs, then they may look great to some, but not to me. Yates does not impress me either, and I watched them again Wednesday night, and they struggled against a very average Houston Waltrip team, which I do realize can sometimes happen. They are no pushover, by no stretch of the imagination, but they are very beatable, even on a their best nights. One game at a time, though...Central is on deck.
When were they really good? Jessie Duffield era? (late)William "Toothpick" Johnson, or maybe (name slips my mind but played at U of H post Phi Slama Jama.
5. Nope! HF-1 , whats going on with the basketball program out there?
6.

Since hearing about this kid a couple of years back and all of his attitude problems, I am wondering where his parents are in all this.  I have been around coaching and athletes all my life and I know there can be two different kinds of parents in this situation.  Either they have no control over their kid or the parents (like the kid) feel everyone owes their kid something and cannot understand why there is a problem.  Any thoughts on this.  Also, as I understand it, he is STILL not playing as of today?  How long is his suspension?
Indefinite!!! His father is at every game but doesn't feel the need to discipline him...  Maybe because his father never had the skills or the athleticism his son has... and he is just as caught up in the hype as hiss soon is!!! Brown's older brother seems to be far apart in attitude than his younger brother so it may be in the genes. I see a lot of AAU games in Texas, especially in the Houston area. The majority of kids with attitude problems have parents who are not active in their kid's social activities. I'm really surprised to hear his dad watches him play. If it was my sons, I'd beat their azz&^*es and explain to CPS later. = Child Protective Services
7. So, what are the updates on the boy wonder at Memorial High?
8. H-F lost to BC?? H-F probably needs to develop an annual summer camp out there geared towards developing their basketball program.
9. Sorry Dick, Oahhill may not be a strong as past teams but they are good. Ozen is beatable outside of Beaumont. The Aldine schools have proven this along with that team (Harker Heights) with no guards on their teams. But I'm a little bias for Houstomn teams anyway
10. Bridge City? IS H-F that bad??? I do know those BC kids are good in that other sport ( can't think of name but Babe Ruth played it)
11. We checked out player's birth certificate (known as " WCOPBC") and their paperwork met the standards of the board. But we are checking into a few possible violations. The possibility that one player from Ozen has an online business selling Go Daddy Go web sites and another player participating in both girls and boys basketball games. Stay tuned to this forum for further reports and updates on this ongoing investigation into the alleged infractions surrounding this team.
12. Yep, Joe Washington, Tony D., Barry Sanders, and Thurman Thomas would agree
13. There is no way playes should turn down million dollar contracts these days. Even if things don't work out as well, you should have enough money for tuition, made good business contacts, and enough money for a downpayment on a business. You stand a chance of getting injured in college. Plus colleges don't pay enough for your services.
14. I'll have to go with Hamshire Fannett on this one. Jared, Kendrick and company will surprise some people next season
15. oKAY, I' missing something here. By their own admission, Tech played sloppy and allowed Lamar to stay in the game. LU has not improved enough to make a dent in conference play. Maybe it's taking time for the new players to mesh in with their new team..................
16. I didn't know Gonzaga was ranked or have they fallen from the rankings?
17. My exact point! No great scorers on the team. But I agree with you that they are good enough athletes to hustle on defense. But, you win games by putting the ball through the hoop. I just don't see a dominant player on the team to carry them. Maybe things will turn around in conference play.
18. I watched the first 2-4 minutes of the game and I liked Lamar's aggressive defense. I was very impressed. But at the same time, I felt like I was watching two bad teams playing against each other. I sense on the offensive side, Lamar has a team of role players and no consistent threat to lead the team. 19. Okay the voting is rigged. I wanted to vote for the winner ;D
20. Someone is using reverse psychology. Keep the faith, surely Central is going through a learning curve and will peak by district.
21. I haven't seen Yates play this year but I have seen Ozen play. Ozen is good and have a few athletes. But I have seen Oak Hill play and Yates did a good job against a team with a national reputation. And from what I hear, Yates has several players who come with their "A" game. But we will get back with this discussion in a few more months. Yates is 4-A now? Sheez!
22. It must be very serious this time. I have already received a resume from a coach. I guess he thinks I have some pull whenever the time nears.
23. Congrats Lady Cardinals! I haven't seen a game this year but I hope to before the season is out.
24. That kid Rafer, every year I'm thinking someone will move him out and he'll get cut from the team. But he hangs in there and even when they get a new coach.
