  1. Almost as exciting as Phi Slama Jamma!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Coogs. But I still can't get over the N.C. State lost. I'v tried but it still hurts. Go Coogs!
  2. HJ is a good team. No need to fear. Sometimes a loss wakes up a sleeping giant.
  3. HF played great? .... "HF moved the ball down the court pretty well alot." Didn't Silbee have two of their starters missing? I predicted a 40 point blow-out. I was wrong in my prediction.
  4. If I can find two legit big men who are 6th or 7th graders for hampshire-Fannett...err Hamshire-Fannett and work them out, I guarantee we'll have a team in 3-4 years we would be proud of. I'd take the two big men and my guards and play them all over Southeast Texas against bigger guys. By the time they hit 9th grade, we'll be prepared to make the run to the next level.
  5. Hmm, lets see! I said by 40 and I was off by 9 points. I gotta start predicting better on these scores.
  6. This thread is so disrespectful! My kids go to H-F. What if they saw this thread? It might ruin their confidence for life. Silsbee by 40
  7. The players have to buy into the system of believing in themselves. It's a lot easier to work on physical skills than mental skills. I would bet that the team has no true leader who has stepped to the forefront and accpeted the challenge for the leadership role on the team. Right now, they know they can beat the small NAIA schools, but a victory over Rice will gratly help their confidence.
  8. Hasker heights didnot impress me but I did a little research on the team. They are considered a top contender for their district and have beaten one or two other good ranked teams this year.
  9. Yeah, kind of reminds me of the two a&m football players arrested for home invasion recently. I guess it happens Texas a&m too!
  10. C'mon guys, we know the team's history/record. So what are the solutions to their problems and their program?
  11. Yeah! Yeah! I am somewhat a little biased towards the Houston schools, I must admit. But I could tell the second half was going to be different when both teams walked out from their half-time briefings. Eisenhower came out looking very confident and ready to get the game going again. Ozen players walked out with a distant looking glare in their eyes looking like they wish they were somewhere else other than the Montagne Center. D-Frank had the ball stolen from him after play begins, and he was out of the game (mentally)thereafter. Ozen still had their chances. Missed free throws and missed short jumpers were their enemies. But Eisenhower countered back with everything Ozen threw at them. Ozen's press was broken and Eisenhower hit the easy layups to take the lead. Eisenhower's coach had a good game plan. Both teams were evenly matched up. This is hard for me to admit but deep down I was still rooting for Ozen to pull it out. Oh my God, I've been in deep S.E.Texas too long ;D
  12. sO Kountze tried to play with the Big Dogs huh? Those are are POTENTIAL D-1 players at St. Pius over in Houston. Different brand of basketball over there. Those kids play AAU all summer long and paly against all types of competition. It can make a big difference.
  13. Christian Life Center beat Jeff Davis Panthers? God does work in mysterious ways. J.D. lets get it together! Go Panthers!!!
  14. Nope! It's still standing as might as ever. But with a better look
  15. Let me make it perfectly clear that in no way was I trying to blame the high school coach for H-F's poor basketball skills. I don't think the game is taken seriously enough out there. People show up to play but haven't put the time in to get better.
  16. I am assuming that you are saying that Nederland "was winning through two and half quarters." First of all, let me state that I attended the Nederland/Ozen game. I think this was my very first high school basketball game I have attended in this area. But I think it's somewhat misleading to say especially in basketball that a team was actually winning through two and half quarters. I've seen too many times where weaker teams were leading early in the games and it's just a matter of the stronger team focusing and executing their game plan. Key word being focused. But don't get me wrong, Nederland has a good team and I wish them well. I had the chance to see their coach in action working with the younger kids and he's good.
  17. wOW! I just listened to his motivational speech on You Tube. I knew he was rough but he reminds me of my old coaches way back in the day. They would cuss you and pop you with boards. It d din't take me long to learn my assignments.
  18. Dang, you could have said if 2 or 3 teams lost players, but the "whole" varsity team? Dang! I suspect it will be awhile ( 4-5 years) before H-F will make a serious run at district. It would help the cause if they found a coach like the young man at the elementary school. He dedicates his time to work out the girls at a very early age on the basic fundamentals of basketball.
  19. Ah-hh Tony Branch days. Man, that brings back memories of long ago. T.B. was too busy trying to graduate his players and less on talent. I'm in favor of bringing back Al Barbe (sp?) to coach. Where is he? Now, he knew how to win (just kidding). L amar is good about giving their coaches 5 years to get things together. A lot of build up and no substance to back up the hype. I saw Lamar play twice last season, and I can honestly say that they had one kid who was a legit D-1 player. The rest would be role players on any other team. But sometimes, you don't have to have a lot of talent to win. Teach a kid how to believe in himself and his own unique talents to blend in with the team concepts.
  20. Interesting, I think Ozen had several key players missing from their line-up. If this is true and they still won? Oh my God, are these guys better than expected?
  21. The guys grades were chnaged and he is legal. Happens all the time
  22. What da-aaaa!!!! Elmer Bennett from Bellaire!!! That was 1988? Oh yeah it was because I seem to remember the kid from this area (Sweet) was on the team too. Man that dude (Bennett) was so smooth and very legit and Norte Dame bound. But Eddie Owens from Wheatley 1973 OR 74 (UNLV) was very legit, but maybe too young for yall to know.
