Yeah, it is Friday night.  I'm a big fan of playing playoff games at night.  It just seems to have a more exciting atmosphere. Besides, we do not seem to play well in day games.

Montgomery 22 Magnolia 15 Final Goin to be one and done if the Bears don't pick it up!!!!!!!
Geez we're limping into the playoffs... Down right embarrassing play the last 2 games. Better get it straight or Connally will run us off the field.
I agree.  What is going on with Montgomery?  I was really impressed early on with the way they played against Dawson and Angleton, and then they sort of fell off.  Good luck to the Bears in the playoffs.
Does Brenham only hold 6000 something or has it been redone since the picture?
20-4A fans would hate coming here.  It seats 6,000 and 1/3 of the visitors side is home seating.  (Remember another 1/3 is for the visiting band.)  The visitor's side is made of old wood and has really nasty rest rooms. (Has a really nice/new parking lot though.)  Now the home side has new rest rooms and a new concession stand.  It's a pretty big home field advantage.  For big games,(such as Montgomery or hosting a playoff game) more bleachers are brought in and placed on the track.
BlueBell can't come up with a new flavor to cover the cost of a new stadium?
We did recently get a few new things.  I'm sure they can afford it though, so I'm not sure why we don't have something to rival Waller's Taj Mahal of a stadium.  Honestly I would think we should  have that and an indoor facility like Tatum or Highland Park. We do have new training equipment, a new field house, new turf, new rest rooms (home side), a new concession stand (home side) & a new score board without a video.
Lets face it!  Cub Stadium with the exception of the new turf is a dump.  They keep making minor improvements that are not really doing anything but putting a band aid on the fact that the Stadium was built in 1987 to replace the old stadium that was literally unsafe.  You want a home field advantage.  The old stadium was definitely that.  Crappy lighting and dead grass.  Not to mention the fact that the visitor's bleachers were ridiculous. What a lot of people do not know is that the current visitor's bleachers were the home side bleachers on the old field.  They put a minimum amount of money into the stadium back then, and continue to nickel and dime it to this day.  What is ironic is that the best part of that stadium before they installed the new playing surface, was the natural grass.  It was awesome, and they ripped it out so that Blinn could call it their home field.  SMH!!
Elgin & Brenham next week will be better!
Any word on where Brenham/Elgin will be played?
 7.
LaMarque 569 wins 71% winning %
Yeah, I think that LaMarque should definitely be on that list.
 8.
Brenham is overrated so I'll have to go with Huntsville in the suppose to be upset ;)
Overrated?  The last thing that anyone on that teams mind is being ranked.  It is so refreshing not having to live up to all of the hype that followed them in 2009 and 2010.  This is a very young team that has tremendous upside.  Are we even ranked in any poll?  Don't know and I don't care!  Please start being a touch more objective before spitting out all of that noise😉
 9. No turnovers by Brenham will equal no points for Magnolia.  The Brenham defense has been outstanding.... Brenham-28 Magnolia-0
 10. I do not like it at all.  They have already watered it down to the point that a district championship means nothing at all anymore.  As a matter of fact, we really do not know who the best teams are in each classification.  When is enough.....ENOUGH??  Why just not let every team in the playoffs?
 11.
Justin Davis walked in on his own at the Brenham pep rally today. Not a dry eye in the room, what a great kid! Go Cubs
Man, that is great to hear!  That should be a great morale lift for this team and especially Justin and his family.
 12. The Cubs are becoming a pretty decent team.  There is still a lot of work to do, but they are right on point.  Brenham-45 Rudder-7
 13. The bottom line is that the Cubs controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.  The offensive line is starting to look more cohesive and is starting to show great potential.  I feel like they did a really good job on the zone read, and gave Walter plenty of time in the passing game.  On the defensive side of the ball the Cub defense never really allowed the Bears offense to click, and please do not tell me that one big play is consistent.  The Bears seem to always be waiting for the big play, and when it does not happen they have no contingency plan.  They had some success running the ball, but were never able to take over the game.  Brenham's defense was in Bolfing's face all night and the secondary was lights out.  I am really enjoying watching this young team develop into a pretty good group.  I still feel like Brenham has to work on protecting the ball, but those are the things that go along with a really young team.
 14. This is a tough one to predict.  I am confident in the fact that the Brenham defense will keep the Cubs in the game.  I am more concerned about the offenses ability to move the ball consistently, not turn the ball over, and not commit drive-ending penalties.  THAT is what I see this game coming down to.....turnovers!  I feel like this very young Brenham team is coming along just fine.  I think that Brenham WILL control those turnovers and will win 24-17.
 15. The progression of this Brenham team is right on schedule.  The development of Walter Thomas, along with the return of Darrion Johnson is key.  I am really enjoying being able to watch this team develop into a decent team.  I have said it before, and I will say it again.  This team is going to be a pretty good group by the time the playoffs roll around. Brenham-24 Willis-7
 16.
Brenham leads the series 6-0.               '04  '05  '06  '07  '08  '09 Brenham  49    54    24  29  17  40 Willis        28    0    7    0    0    9 A couple of interesting quotes from the coaches... Coach West: "Boy this week is going to be a call and a challenge.  I'm very impressed with Willis offensively.  To this point, they'll be the most complete offense we've seen.  They can throw the ball well and have dangerous receivers, possession receivers." Coach Jackson: "I know since 08' we've never had an opportunity to stay close to Brenham.  Even though they're young and extremely big, it's going to take everything we've got to stay in the game.  They're so much bigger and faster than we are.  Our kids are going to have to play well above their heads to stay within reach of the game." SMH @ Coach Jackson...  What kind of message does that send to his team?  I can't believe he would bring that type of negativity into the locker room.  I'm also not sure what he's talking about when he said we have more speed then they do.  I mean, Willis is always really athletic.  Not to mention, they have the state champion in the 400m, in Chris Pratt.
Actually Brenham leads the series 11-4 since 1986 with Willis' last win coming in 1997.  These teams have played each other off and on since 1986.
 17. This team is definitely in contrast from what we have seen over the last few years in Brenham.  This is going to be a pretty darn good team by the end of the year IF they can eliminate the mistakes.  I am really enjoying this edition of Brenham football, and cannot wait to see the end result.
 18. Brenham has had such a high level of talent over the past 10-12 that everyone expects them to automatically re-load.  The truth is that they are a very young, inexperienced team.  They do have some good young players, but unfortunately they have virtually no experience.  We do not have NEAR the big-time Div 1 talent as in the past few years(if any).  I expect the team to improve tremendously down the road.  Gonna be some tight, evenly matched games.
 19.

This was supposed to be Brenham vs. Bay City, but for some reason Bay City backed out and left Brenham scrambling for a tenth game.  Pope John called Coach West about playing the next two years with both games being in Brenham.  Brenham should win big.
Really big!!!!!
Lets hope....

 21. First of all, this district(the ones that Brenham has been playing in for the last 2 years) is terrible.  With the exception of Brenham and Montgomery, all of the other teams have been terrible.  I really feel that it would benefit both Brenham and Montgomery in the playoffs if they had a tougher district schedule.  No excuses though.  The fact of the matter is that Brenham has had a huge lack of focus the last couple of years, and it cost them tremendously.  Sometimes all of that talent is not necessarily a good thing on a high school team.  With that being said, I really feel that this young team is going to develop into a pretty good group by the end of the year.  Do not forget that in 2008 that the Cubs started off 1-3 against pretty average teams and ended up playing in the regional finals.  I was especially impressed with this young defense.  The defense played more than good enough for a big win, AND the offense drove the ball all night long.  It was the big mistakes that killed them.  These are things that young teams do.  I was pleased to see that West stuck with the sophomore QB Thomas even though he made crucial mistakes.  That sends a message to the team, AND the whole community that this is MY QB.  Let the youngster play, and by the end of the year he will be a player.  We have gotten to be spoiled lately, and EVERYONE expected to win Friday.  I am good with it though, because I saw something I have not seen since 2009.  A unified team effort.  GO CUBS!!
 22. This has the making to be a very memorable season for reasons that do not need to be mentioned.  With that being said let us remember that this is a very young team with a whole lot of question marks.  The secondary was exposed tremendously in the two scrimmages.  I do think that the Cubs will win, but I do believe that it will be a lot closer than you guys believe. Brenham-24 Foster-14

Good job Ozen!
This is my view point, i think ozen played out of their minds, and went and beat a very good Brenham team. Vidor beat Montgomery, all it tells me is 20-4a is EXTREMELY good and EXTREMELY deep this year.
Good Post Coug Talk!  I agree completely!  And Lions #80, if you are WR #80 for Livingston, you had like 4 catches in 10 games.  I looked it up.  If you are not, go away!  Either way, STOP HATING!  I do not recall anyone starting in on you about Livingston NOT making the playoffs.  You came on here running YOUR mouth.  If you are a senior, GET OVER IT!  If you are not, go run some routes so that maybe NEXT year you can catch a few more than 4 balls, and you do make the playoffs.  I have said it once, and I will say it again, CONGRATS TO OZEN, you deserved to win!
