Really Cub87,lets look @ the Stratford game a week back.Spartans rushing=21 carries=1 yd  Pass=10/24=124 yds.Same rb for Statford last year killed ya on the edges, saw that 1 too 8)
The Stratford game a year ago was exactly the game that stands out the most.  Skulski #25 for Stratford lit the defense up that night.  Houston Lamar, along with Waller had some success this year with the running game.  Our secondary had two interceptions in the Lamar game that denied Lamar the TD's that the run set up.  Stratford did nothing against us this year, as you said
 2. Actually, if you remember correctly, our defense knocked the WOS starting QB out of the game.  We were shutting the veer down up until that point.  Well, unfortunately for us the WOS backup came in and seemed to ignite that offense.  Yeah, our left guard had a neck injury that day.  He was fine, just had to wear a neck brace for a couple of weeks.  I played OT and DT.  I normally just played offense, but one of our starting DT's reaggravated an arm injury, and I had the pleasure of going both ways for a while and trying to figure out that zone blocking scheme.  The offensive line for WOS was definitely a strong point for that team.  Actually, that whole team was tremendous.  Our coach had us so hyped up for that game, that I really did not notice how big those guys were until I watched the film the next day.  They looked like a freaking college team.  It was a beautiful day.  Do you remember how we drove the ball down the field on our first offensive field in like five plays only to get stuffed twice on 3rd and 4th down from inside the one yard line?  I still think that we should have went play action on that third down....
 3.
If (bigtime if)the 2 team players matched up pretty even,I'd pic Brenham on coaching alone.Having seen both to be honest on a good Ozen effort-Cubs by 28.In a game w/outstanding Panther game and a mediocre Cub gm.Brenham by 14.Now the IF-EES=Cubs come out flat offensively Ozen plays well on special teams/defense=Ozen has a shot, not much of 1 but stranger things have happened, right Justin? If this match-up had BH in it,I'd take da Cubs by 35 or more just because BH rarely throws 8)
Actually, teams that have any sort of success against Brenham's defense are teams that keep trying to get to the edge with their running game.  I have not seen ANY team just line up and drive the ball the length of the field on a consistent basis.  The secondary has been a very pleasant surprise, and has improved tremendously with the discovery of a couple of very talented young players.
 4.
Looks like Mr. Richards' 38 carries for 276 yards against Summer Creek, got him in to "other nominees" for player of the week in the chronicle.
yeah, I listened to that game on TSRN, and in the second half it seemed like he was going for 8+ yards every time he touched the ball.  Dude went off!  The game was very close with Magnolia West scoring two really late TD's(one on an interception return with less than 2 minutes remaining), so the score does reflect the actual game.
 5.
i was there...but i was in the fourth grade lol....i remember it well though..brenham was home and wos was visitor....score was 23-9 or something like that...didnt brenham have a paw on their helmets that year or something? i think they were wearing all green that day..
Well thanks for reminding me how OLD I am getting by telling me that you were in the fourth grade at the time.  LOL!  Yeah, the final score was 23-7.  It was tied at 7-7 midway through the third quarter.  WOS had dropped down from 5A that year and was VERY good.  At that time they ran that old school Houston veer with split backs.  Yep, we did wear solid green that day, and had green helmets with paws on them.  We had a solid team that year, but WOS was just too much to handle.
 6. Is there anyone that is active on this forum that was a member of the team in 1986 that played Brenham at SHSU, or is there anyone on here that was at that game?  I played on that Brenham team, and just trying to connect.....
 7.

Waas up 19-4a supporters, not that some weren't @ our gm last night but I didn't see you supporting Dayt.Roll call now, who's coming to this 1 ???
I'll be at the game and on the Dayton side.  I would even pull for the Broncos, if y'all weren't playing 17-4A that is... Gotta support my district....  Go 17-4A!
interesting game here. I know Mag West is good.... they only lost to Brenham and Stratford. The fact that they were blow outs make me wonder. Brenhamfan.... how did they beat Montgomery.
Desmond Richards had almost 200 yards rushing in that game, and Tyler Anderson had just over 125 yards passing.  The problem here is that Montgomery turned the ball over four times(two fumbles, two interceptions).  I do not care how good of a team that you have, when you turn the ball over like that, you are going to get beat.  Magnolia West is a well coached team, and will take advantage of mistakes.
 8.
Cub linebacker #40 is a headhunter, makes alot of solo tackles ;)
Jerrid Jeter Gilmon!  Yes, he has been playing in the shadows of Malcolm Brown, Tim Cole, and Troy Green for the last two years.  In my opinion, he is one of the most dangerous players on that defense, because he can play any position on the field.  He is actually classified as a hybrid Safety/Linebacker, but he has lined up as a defensive lineman at times as well.  He plays all of the positions well, and yes he is a headhunter.  He is a very valueable asset to that defense.  He is all over the field, every week.  You had better not forget about him when you try to account for the rest of the above listed players.
 9.
Brenham will win, but Ozens qb is the best player on the field, no doubt
That is a strong statement considering the competition.  Malcolm Brown is a five star recruit, Timothy Cole is a four star recruit, and let me not forget to mention that Dean Haveman(Brenham's QB) has thrown for over 1900 yards, 31 TD's, AND has a completion percentage of 72%.  He is also very dangerous outside the pocket, and is a VERY legitimate running threat.  Now, I do not doubt that Green is one heck of a fine athlete, and a good player, but THE BEST PLAYER ON THE FIELD?  Come on man!
 10.

These posts sound real familiar, last night the corp of linebackers (who were as good as promised) were supposed shut Ozen down.  Now is the the Brenham D-line.  Green is an outstanding QB but Ozen has many weapons and will take what the defense leaves open.  Brenham's DL might be special but it won't matter. If you score 40, Ozen scores at least 41.  Another upset, which is good medicine for arrogance,  (JMO)
Well put! Our offense is too potent and our defense adjusts well. It'll be a heck of a game for sure. Maybe even a shootout! Not so fast Brenham! If we weren't good enough we wouldn't have made it this far. Don't let the record fool you.
For a team that BARELY beat a BH team that was 2nd at best in their district behind Dayton is going to be in for a big surprise.  There comes a time where you just prepare and hope the team your facing will have 27 turnovers because this game won't be close.  Ozen might, MIGHT, show a few flashes of speed and trickery in the first quarter and have Brenham on their heals, not doubting Ozens big play ability.  BUT, Brenham is loaded with big time play makers and at the beginning of the year were already booking their hotel rooms in Dallas. Brenham 38 - Ozen 6
We really appreciate the love, BUT that is exactly what Brenham did last year, and we had six turnovers that killed us in bi-district.  I think the team, and coaches learned from that, and are doing everything they  can to prevent such a loss of focus.  We just want to keep playing another week.
 11.
Hello all, many of you know I'm the Die-Hard Parent/Fan for my West Hardin Oilers.  Most only know me by joharr73, but my name is John Harrington.  I've had the honor of watching my two sons play for the Oilers, from the sidelines where most can't go. I'm asking for everyone to pray or whatever you do for me for Tuesday.  I'm having open heart surgery that day and could use ever bit of help I can get.  Here's the kicker, I'm only 38!  ???  Yeah, I know!  I know everything should turn out fine, but if you got a minute to spare I'd appreciate it! Thank you, John Harrington
Prayers go out to you from myself, and everyone else that I can speak for from Brenham.  You will be fine.  God Bless!
 12.
Saturday! Ozen plays at 1 in Aldine, so I may make both games.
MW and Dayton is Friday at 7:00 p.m....not Saturday
 13. My thoughts on MW are this.  I think they have improved along the course of the season more than anyone in 17-4A.  They were in a must win situation against Waller in the last game of the year.  I gotta be honest that I picked Waller in that game because after seeing both teams play, I just thought that Waller was much more physical up front.  Well MW made me look like a fool by beating Waller 45-0.  Desmond Richards definitely the key to their offense, but Tyler Anderson is a legit QB, and Resendez is a legit receiver.  In my opinion they are a well coached team(even though Coach Bell sometimes tends to run his mouth too much), that will not beat themselves.
 14. Thank you all very much for the hospitality, everyone!  I try to be very objective, EVEN THOUGH I am probably one of the biggest Brenham homers that you will ever see.  I believe that if you are going to crack on anyone, you MUST crack on your own first.  I used to be a regular on a certain board that has pretty much dried up.  Look forward to sharing my thoughts on pretty much anything.
 15.
This remeinds me alot of the year central beat BH and met Brenham in the 2nd round, but Brenham is not as good as that team was, I think Ozen turns alot of heads with this game, they have to good athletes but its going to take more then that to beat brenham, hopefully Nelsons gets his panthers heads right, seems like their peaking at the right time
I would have to disagree with you on that point.  The Cubs had a good team in 2005, that was just loaded with D1 talent just like this team is.  Actually, I think that the 2005-2006 era had more D1 talent.  The difference now is we have an overall better level of talent.  Along with Malcom Brown, Tim Cole, and Troy Green you have to deal with Shea Nutt, Jesse Baker, Klartel Claridy, AND Dean Havemen at QB.  Do not get me wrong, Jarrett Lee was a good QB, but after watching Haveman in every game this year, all I can say is ,"Why the hell was this guy not starting last year?  He is an amazing high school QB, who is every bit as accurate as Jarrett Lee was, and I loved Ty Schlottmann, but this guy is good, really good.
 16. Jumping on the board for the first time. Another fan from ice cream land joining in on all of this fun!!
