  1. [Hidden Content] Thursday, July 31, 2008 - 10:20 AM CDT Houston group to design Lamar stadium upgrade Houston Business Journal Houston office of architectural firm Leo A. Daly Co. has been selected to upgrade Cardinal Stadium at Lamar University in Beaumont. The design work includes general improvements to the 17,000-seat stadium, including the installation of premium suites and new concession areas, as well as a separate athletic field house with locker room facilities. The selection process for the project’s construction management firm is under way. Work is expected to begin later this year and be finished in time for the university’s return to college football in 2010. Lamar University discontinued its football program in 1989. The existing stadium had been used for the university’s soccer teams as well as local high school football games. “Reviving the football program has long been a dream of this university,†said Jimmy Simmons, Lamar University president. “The planned upgrades will bring us one step closer toward realizing that dream.†Leo A. Daly, based in Omaha, Neb., has 24 offices worldwide.
  2. Only big dreamers make big things happen. Now we just need Simmons and Tubbs to dream big about Cardinal Stadium. Don't forget big bucks to go with the big dreams...
  3. UH is planning 38.7 million in upgrades to Robertson stadium. If this is what you get for 38.7million, what will it really take for LU to upgrade Cardinal Stadium? [Hidden Content] :-\
  4. Are there any updated pics of the stadium?
  5. I'd give them a much improved 4-6 based on the schedule. 2009 might get them back to 6-4 or better.
  6. Buna will still be the team to beat. Pretty much the entire team returning. I believe there were only 2 starters lost to graduation and some good athletes replacing them.
  7. It's all about the weight of the criteria. They also had to refer to (long-standing air quality) since this is actually up to standards now and they didn't want to revise their list and update their research. Beaumont will disappear off these worst lists soon enough. The area has far more employment, cultural, and sports activities than any of the other Southland Conference schools by far. I'd pick Lamar and Beaumont over Huntsville, Nacogdoches, Hammond, Conway, etc...
  8. UNLV, to answer your hypothetical question, I'd say the UH schedule would draw the largest attendance of the ones posted. Decent home games with fairly reasonable travel distances to Beaumont from the institutions listed. Both home and away attendance would be respectable.
  9. Congrats to all...especially my little brother. (You know who you are...ha)
  10. I don't think I can recall a season where LU has allowed soooo many runs per game... :-\
