Anybody have a score on the New Diana / New Boston game(s) today? I've looked everywhere.

1. I'm happy LU is bringing football back. 2. I'm happy it is not Div II or even Div III. 3. I'm happy the stadium is being upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility. 4. I'm happy the stadium will seat 17,500 and upwards of 23,000 SRO. 5. I'm happy the recruits will have an awesome facility that rivals others (if not the best) in the SLC and most others 6. I'm happy LU is hiring a coach that wants to come to LU - apparently the others did not - and build the program. 7. LU has my support. Sounds to me like Tubbs and Simmons are making the right decisions for the University, the TSUS, and financially. KUDOS to being responsible leaders.

I think Woodard is a great choice for Lamar and someone that WANTS to come here. The other big names, are just that. They likely could care less if the program was successful. Comparing to USF is not a good comparison. You're talking about comparing apples to oranges. St. Petersburg, FL (Tampa) vs. Beaumont, an enrollment of 45,224 students compared to LU at barely over 10,000 now. Leavitts has done a great job there, but it's because he loves the school, he loves what he built and he is from St. Pete. I think that someone like Woodard with ties, builds the program, and loves the area can have the same success.

Well said. And the community (the School Board) and the Superintendent approved this. They represent the community. If you don't like the choice, go to your elected school board, not the superintendent or the newly hired coach/AD.

You're exactly right on this coachacola. LU is a different university in 2008 that it was in 1988. Beaumont / Golden Triangle is massively different. A positive approach towards the university by students and the community will make a huge difference in the football program.

Why? Why should he tell "us" anything? If he doesn't have finalists, or the guy he wants has applied yet, or maybe he just doesn't have the guy to do the job yet. Unless someone here is holding a check for $5-6 million that will only be released to the LU Football program Tubbs owes no information...I still stand by my previous post that nothing is going to be announced until the Texas Higher Education Board approves the spending of funds to improve the facilities at LU.

Couldn't agree more... When I was in school, it really meant something to make the playoffs. One team from each district, no div 1 / div 2.
