Those numbers look great, and I cannot wait to see them light it up, but what wins championships? Defense...
Offense wins games, defense wins CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Please do not compare Triston to 2008 just yet. 2008 = 37 TD passes with 6 Ints.... 2013 = 13 TD's and 14 ints. Coach Wilson will run an offense that will be much closer to what Bronco fans were accustomed to from 2002 - 2010. I think Coach Wilson will take care of the defense and do a great job of ball control, taking advantage of the defense trying to cheat to stop the run, the same way that Nations did. It may take him a couple of scrimmages and games to get his feet under him, but give him a chance to get settled and I think the Bronco fans will like what they see. I look forward to watching this season and seeing just how far that Coach Hancock can lead this group of Broncos.

I will make it a third. Thank you Coach Craus for your dedication to our athletes. Your countless hours spent has helped make Dayton a winner and a top program. Good luck in your new job in Groveton.

Might have to take up a collection to get him away from the oil and gas business...I'm in..

If you ran Counter as many times as we did, it would be ingrained in you as well. I can call it out in my sleep. Lol. I swear, I think Nations should have named one of his kids Counter.

Not last season as last year but the last season that Coach Nations was coaching, two seasons ago. I did go to the game against Crosby and I could call out every play that was run. Thank you very much. From what I witnessed Friday, that is the closest to a Coach Nations gameplan they have had this year, and look what they did.

One interesting tidbit. The defensive coordinator at King was the o-line coach for Coach Nations' last season as offensive coordinator. He will know this offense forwards and backwards. Will not matter though. Dayton by 35 points and they pull the dogs off of CE King.

I will take PN-G

Look like Tarzan, play like Jane. Different coach, same result.

Summer Creek over New Caney. Sorry about that.

This team is not in the top 5 offensively or defensively from the teams in the past 12 years. Now, in 2 years, they could be scary good. Still enough to beat Crosby though.

Dayton will have to depend on the defense this week. With no passing attack Dayton will have a hard time moving the ball. Dayton has not shown the ability to complete the necessary intermediate passing game in order to keep drives alive. They have completed some deep balls but nothing that would get them down the field in a consistent manner. A big part of that is not having their complete offense on the field except for the first half of Elkins. Young receivers have to learn, and with an inexperienced QB it takes time. Chambers is inexperienced in the number of snaps he has actually taken in big games. They will have to rely on the run game, special teams play and not put their defense in bad field position.
With that being said, defense wins championships. Dayton wins 20 - 10. -

Dayton by at least 3 TDs

The offense is not a player problem.

I already told you guys, I hope I am wrong. I hope everyone goes 4 rounds deep and has to play a rematch in the region finals.
And our offense will be fine. Just not to it's potential.

What is crazy is, I had a line in the original post saying not to bring that one up simple because it was an anomaly, it is not the rule. SS had 4 D1 WRs, a D1 RB and a beast at QB, we had a hell of an offense and it got nuts. Was a fun game for sure. Boys, all I am saying is this, we can score 40 a game but at some point and time we are going to have to stop someone. If we could have stopped SS we would have one of those rings, they stopped us 2 more times than we stopped them and they won.
Liltex brought up earlier that we had a lot of all state players that year. According to the Texas Sports writers we had 1- first team, AJ. Cody was a third team selection and that was all. No one on defense. There are several other all state lists but really none of them mean a hill of beans, even the TSWA.
A good defense allows for you to score a lot of points because they get you the ball back and you have more opportunities. I believe we will return to the days of being known as a good defensive football team, and when that happens, expectations can really rise.
Just remember, we can all drink the purple kool aid, and believe that we can ride an offense to a championship, but in the end it will come down to being able to stop someone. Even if it is just one more time than they stop us.
