I've got a son that will graduate this year. He has always played football, baseball, and did powerlifting. Keeping him healthy through all three has been a nightmare. I can fully understand a guy with the ability and future that Justin has wanting to focus on his first passion. Anyone tha has watched him play both sports can tell you that he is a baseball player first and an all around good kid. I wish him luck in his future endeavors. I would also like to wish the Hornets good luck with the rest of their season!

WS/Shelbyville: Who you got?
JesseJames replied to pinelandflash's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Not a Shelbyville fan, but I think that everyone is still sitting back thinking about that Groveton game. The Groveton that we played in district last year wasn't bad. They were just young with alot of size up front. The fact is someone is leaving friday night 0-1 and I wouldn't take the dragons lightly one bit! -
A Top Ten matchup this week:#6 WS vs.#10 Alto
JesseJames replied to pinelandflash's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was just wondering. I couldn't remember them ever being matched up with Alto. I can't ever remember SA not playing Alto. There have been some good match ups between the 2 over the years. One thing you can always count on when playing the jackets is that win or lose they are gonna hit you 3 different ways; hard, often, and continuosly! As far as the district title goes, I think the same can be said for all 3 teams. If any of them play smart mistake free football any of the 3 are contenders for the title. Should make for some interesting district play! -
After this game i will begin to make my predictions about the rest of the season for my pirates and how they will finish in district. They really haven't played a good physical team yet but I do belive that they will take this game if they can control the ball and don't make constly mistakes Deweyville-28 Corrigan- 13
Ask them how physical SA was! -
CC is always tuff. They usually get better every game and end up in the playoffs every year! Containment is always the issue when you play them. I haven't seen them this year but they always have a back or two with good speed. This should be a good game and should be for one of the top spots in this district. Before we played D-ville this year I was really not looking forward to the match up. There was alot of dirty play last year that got in the way of how yall performed. This year however, there was no comparison in the team attitude and mentality! I wish you guys the best of luck going into district! Buckle up, keep your heads up, this one will definitely be a test!
West Sabine has definitely been impressive to this point. This kids can only go out and play the teams that were put in front of them. So anything about a weak schedule or anything of that sort is a non-point. The real tests start in 1 week. And for West Sabine October 19 and October 26th will determine just how good this team really is. Hopefully all teams are relatively injury free and play some good solid football!
Your right, the kids can only go out and play the teams in front of them. But the schedule yall have for pre-district is very soft! To date Tenaha has been the biggest challenge. You can debate both sides of that as well. Boosted confidence, less injuries, or the other side, over confident, peaking out to early, lack of playing teams that put you in adverse situations. I think our district is probably one of the toughest in 1A. Regardless of what happens in this triad of SA,WS,and Alto, I think we will be very well represented come playoff time.

I appreciate the confidence. We have some issues to fix as far as penalties go but we are not far from where we would like to be. This close loss should push the Pack further into work mode so we can finish where we want to be. The SA Hemphill game is a long standing rivalry game so there is no telling what could happen Friday night! I think the Wolves continue fine tuning their game and come out with a big win over the Hornets!

Yea your right. I went back and looked at it and it was the right call. The other one that I thought was a td was a big play that called back. -

#55 is my son. He told me the refs had a discussion in front of him and they couldn't make up their minds whether to call it a block in the back or an "unnecessary" block. Whatever that is. One of the other td's that I'm talking about was on the south end of the field, during the third quarter I think, and we were charged with some kind of crazy formation or pass interference on the offense call, whatever it was it kept us out of the end zone! -

Pretty sure there was. The other 2 weren't called td's before they were called back. They were just penalized. But any way it is what it is. A win for the pack. Good luck with the rest of the season -

I'll agree with the poor officiating comment. There were definitely some bad calls made. But if you can look back at it and say that it didn't keep the game close then we were watching two different games. There were a total of 4 Wolf td's called back and a safety on that kickoff that wasn't called. Add that to the score without PAT's and we're talking about a score of 52-14. Of course that wasn't the score. I'm not trying to take anything away from the pirates. I've repeatedly said that I have a repect for the program that I didn't prior to friday night's game. I think by the time district roles around, a battle tested D-ville team will be a threat for the title. Good Luck to yall! -

JesseJames replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Are we seriously still yaking about this? I'm sorry to tell you, but SA did dominate the pirates. For every td that got put on the board there was another one that got called back. I don't see us making that many mistakes, just saying! This game was kept close by either bad calls or SA mistakes (depends on which side of the field you were sitting on I guess). As far as the "safety"goes, I thought if you picked up the ball on the field and ended up down in the end zone that it was a safety. Now with all of that said, I can see some definite improvement in Deweyville. They played a very hard fought game with class. I really think that the new AD was agreat hire for yall. Good luck with the rest of your season! -

Anytime u can break the huddle with 12 and it not get called, sounds piss poor to me. But its working out well for the pirates so far.
