  1. It is no where near the attractive job some perceive it to be. Land locked, no growth, limited financial support from the community...
  2. How did they draw interest from Fla/OH if it was not posted effectively?
  3. And the Superintendent didnt require it.... for good reason. Maybe she can use it for justification to keep the salary down and save the district money, but obviously didnt think in good conscience that it was required.
  4. Im sorry, but what in the heavenly hosts does a Masters have to do with running an athletic Dept. Im sorry, but that doesnt compute with me. You either have real life experience organizing and managing a large group of people or you dont. Masters Schmasters.
  5. I would guess the backups at most Katy schools would have more tools and capabilities than Nederland
  6. Im not against Simmons, but I find the irony in the desire to bring him in because hes an outsider... its funny to me anyway. Especially when he working for a former Bulldog, Don Clayton. Its just funny that people don't think anyone from their home town is worth a ****, I guess like that prophet thing in his hometown from the bible. Its a mind block, mind fart, that Ill never understand. We're okay with the guys from Nederland running billion dollar facilities at these refineries, but lead the athletic program... heck no, not qualified. Like I said, the irony is freakin rich for me. *Mod Edit*- Language
  7. Will be highly suspect if you can do better in the current Bmt district environment... doubtful.
  8. This should be over quickly, Barrow gets the job or the Sup has a lot of explaining to do. There's nothing here to keep you from moving this program in the right direction it has been on. Dont screw this up.
  9. This will NEVER happen, English gets it and my bet is Barrow hops
  10. Like Central and their current string of outcomes against Nederland's staff???
  11. There should be savings in salary with the new football coach / AD versus what Neumann was being paid. Give English a nice bump, he deserves it based on performance, but leave the position as HC football / AD... everybody wins.
  12. I can't imagine many football coaches looking to take a program anywhere will bite on not being the AD. This is Texas, Football is King, that's just the way it is. Setting ourselves up for failure if not.
  13. Wonder if he'll bring his boy with him if he gets the job, heckuva center.
  14. As the dominoes fall to fill this position, it will be interesting to watch the dynamic as Nederland also works to fill it's opening. Very interesting to say the least.
  15. That's a long ride on the yellow dog.
  16. Neumann built a program, he didn't win in a season or two, he built a culture of winning and formula in the offseason with minute details that made it happen. Barrow led the implementation of the program and knows the formula. He was also a 3 sport guy in high school and led the girls softball team to the state tournament so I know he has an appreciation for all sports, not just football. He has shown the ability to adapt the offense to Nederland's personnel, shifting in and out of different forms of the spread and even spending time under center when the personnel dictated. What he did with Nederland's offense last year with the revolving door of young injured QB's says about all I need to know. There you go, thoughts on why he will be successful as an AD and head football coach.
  17. True leaders and real men dont get their value from attention or having people fawn over you. Neumann proved to be a focused leader, that is why his teams won. He was able to get them to focus intently, as a group, on a common goal, and work like heck to make it happen. Right now, he obviously has other things he needs to focus on. We just need to give the man some space, but it has been one helluva ride.
  18. Hard to believe the Superintendent would put out a message on the NISD website like they did if this isn't confirmed.
  19. Ned has voted down new schools twice, they were not both in recessions when the economy was bad, only the first. They just clearly are not going to do it, so I agree shouldnt be spending big money to attract a new coach.
  20. Stat, you have offended no one from Nederland with this truth. These are the facts, this is the direction I hope we move in as well... for all the reasons you perfectly laid out.
