I ran into an acquaintance of mine about a month ago out one night eating with his family.  He is a real nice guy who works at my bank, so I made a point to say hello and meet his family.  He had 3 boys in what I immediately thought to be in the 5-8 years old range that appeared to be athletic to say the least.  I knew he lived in Port Neches area, so I asked him if they played for one of the PNG football teams.  He was quick to say that they did not get involved in that kind of stuff, as it was not the kind of environment he wanted to expose his kids to....  I was caught off guard by his comments and politely asked him what he meant by that statement, as I think football has been a tremendous opportunity for my son.  He went on to state that he refused to expose his kids to all of the drama and politics that goes on between the parents.  I kind of laughed on the inside while politely changing the subject and wishing him and his family a good evening.  I walked back to my family and shared the details of the conversation with my wife, who also was a little dumbfounded by his comments.  I regret laughing at him, because now I see exactly what he was talking about.  The drama that has been going on in this forum is just plain ridiculous.  We all need to remember this football program is more about development and character building than winning football games.  I know people on both sides of the current argument and outside of this forum and football in general, they are fine people.  I don't know any of the coaches on Bmt Blue, but I know every coach in Nederland and they are fine people and I find it extremely unlikely that they were teaching their kids to chop block.  Who knows where the kids involved learned to do it, if they were doing it at all?  We all need to focus on the experience and not the records or titles.  My son has experienced both the joy of being part of a super bowl championship team and playing through a losing season.  Guess what, he had as much fun in the losing season as he did the winning season.  He loves football, his teammates, and his coaches.  I would implore everyone on this forum to stop the finger pointing, name calling, and accusations that are flying in both directions and get back on point to what really matters, making these years and experiences a tool to raise the men of the future.  What they learn today will last so much longer than most of their football careers.  Let's let this post die and move forward to the playoffs and focus on the kids and not our egos....  Take this for what it is worth and spare me the negative comments.  There has been enough of those already...  Best wishes to all for a healthy recovery from their injuries and we'll see you on the field...

Ding ding ding.....WE FINALLY HAVE A WINNER!

And I would just like to share that I too have had the same thoughts as your acquaintance! BUT, I took a step back and asked myself....is all this negativity affecting my son? Does he have a clue that some people (ADULTS) are so ridiculous? No! He wants to play football with his buddies, whether win or lose, and that's all he knows and cares about! AND ISN'T THAT WHAT'S IMPORTANT! Our boys don't see details like we do. JUST PLAY BALL AND QUIT GRIPING!!!!!

Bmt b is a fine group of young boys, just like the rest of ours! They are winning with their hard work and some talent! What's wrong with that??? Could any of you adults so mad at bmt b look at those boys in their faces and bash them like you are bashing each other? I hope not! Like I said 2 weeks ago, why can't we be excited for their success??? When I read the 75 to 0 post, I honestly said wow, but it wasn't a wow with amo behind it!!!
Chop blocking....I mean every word I have said about this part!!! I surely hope we don't have coaches teaching this because I WILL NOT expose my 7 yr old to a situation of being severely hurt!
Yes, a lot of people have lost their focus in STJFL, and that's really kind of scary! As of now, my son is not being affected negatively. But y'all know me....the second he is, is the second we go somewhere else!
Lets come back together SETX!!! My team, your team, our boys!

I was also at the game for all you Ned. haters and the only unsportman like conduct I watched was from BMT coaches.  Prayers go out to the injured players.  Two were hit by their own guys.  Chop blocking is illegal from behind that's they never got a penalty for it.  It looks like bmt won on the scoreboard but Ned won on the field.  Great players not so good coaches.
What exactly did the coaches due that was unsportsmanlike?
Poke fun by sharing his plays???? Lol Ya, I'd like to know too! Good question!

I have never been one to post on this website, although I do read it regularly.  I have a son on the Ned W team that played beaumont today.  I first want to say I hope the injured players that got hurt were ok.  I personally didn't see any chop blocking and know that the kids are not taught that.  I know that both sides were called once each for personal fouls.  I did see one kid from beaumont that hurt his ankle and 2 Bmt players run into each other on the nederland side line resullting in them banging each other up.  Not sure about the other injuries.
I want to say congrats to beaumont.  They are truly talented and full of speed.  They kicked our butts fair and square.  They were so good the coach was telling our head coach what play he was going to run and daring him to stop them.  Their backfield does a great job of blocking for the other backs to run.  We could have stacked 6 guys on the side they ran to and still not stopped them.    I am proud of our boys for hanging in there and never giving up.  Good luck beaumont and you do have a truly talented team.  hope to see you again in superbowl.  Thoughts are with your injured players
Thanks for the game explanation!!! Needed to hear some details!
  4. Is Ned w known to chop block this season??? How many injuries due to chop blocking and how many not?

Guys and gals...I surely hope we don't have coaches teaching this kind of football!! Why on Earth are those boys performing these kinds of blocks??? Isn't a chop block the most dangerous block out there? Illegal!!! But we have 7,8 and 9 year olds demonstrating their "skills" today in STJFL?????

Prayers to all the injured! Wonder who taught Ned W how to chop block? :-\
I watched that game and it was sad to watch. My Prayers are with the 6 players who left with severe injuries.
6 players with SEVERE injuries??? Can anyone elaborate? Are these boys ok? Good gosh! Scared of Ned w!

Lookin like Ned W might pull it off. Heard 6 kids are out for sickness on Bmt B. Plus a couple for grades maybe...34-21 ned w
I hope those boys get well real soon. That would really be a shame for them to miss this game, of all games. They need to stick together as a team and show everyone we stay strong during tough times and will still beat you. Don't let the adults spoil it for the kids.
Keep ur head up Bmt. Y'all did nothing wrong. The punishment definitely don't fit the crime
I truly thought I was reading sarcasm from bmt pride about the boys being ill and no pass no play!! And I haven't been informed of any punishment! If no sarcasm intended, I'm sorry! I too hope boys get well soon and can play tom! My boy and two other team mates are going to watch the bmt b and Ned w game! No need to speak about a punishment on here! Ill do my research! Good luck to ALL teams tom!

I never said it cant be done. Im saying it takes away from the kids. U say it aint right to run a score up that high. I say it aint right to make Bmt stop tryin in the 1st quarter when there no rule that says to. especially when the opposing coach didnt want to stop it. Plea ur case all u want, it will not change the outcome. Maybe u should be trying to make a stopage rule so it wont happen again and will not put anymore great teams in such a difficult position instead of trying to punish bmt for their hard work

That's the only solution to the madness! But ya know what....I see it as ok!!!! Cuz I don't only see numbers! Put a score rule in effect! We will still play, learn and develop!

And the second I see my son is not learning or DEVELOPING, is the second we go somewhere else!  ;)  Just sayin.....
  8.
I promise I am not the judge or jury in this matter.  I'm not saying it was malicious or anyone should be punished. I am saying that the score to much. Show some pride, integrity, with the score.. It can be done, and like I said, I bet it doesn't happen again.
And one more thought.... And I'll TRY AGAIN to be done......
How bout you lower your "pride" and just say "good job!" You can still have your 75 to 0 mind frame, but just say "good job" either before or after your passionate 75 to 0 conclusion.

Let me say it one more time...... We ALL agree that 75 to 0 is unheard of, but that shouldn't be the ONLY focus 75 to 0!!!

And like another poster said....if STJFL feels there needs to be a rule to address situations like these, they will create one! And guess what.....it will be followed or there will be consequences. Right?

I'm thinking you just like to argue because I'm about to call you out so you can argue some more! Are you really going to reply with the statements you just did?  What do you mean you haven't been saying they weren't acting maliciously or no one should be punished? One is about to quote you on that one......

There is so much that I could comment on or give my opinion on but I think pretty much everything has been covered OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I will say, I am a parent who has a child on Beaumont Blue that is not a "Stud" and is just a regular player at best. He is on the Kick Off team and occasionally even gets to kick, but mostly just runs when the main kicker kicks the ball. My child got to play on offense in this game and he came home thinking he was a "Stud". When they took out the "Studs" and put in the Kick Off/Kick Return Team to play Offense, my kid and kids like him (your typical 10 play players) that had never ran the ball or played offense got to play these positions and this was huge for them. They were able to do it because they were prepared and well coached even though they are not the best players. These coaches have instilled skills and fundamentals in all of the players and my son's self esteem has improved so much thanks to them and their coaching. I could not ask for better coaches and am proud my child is on this team.

Other than kneeing every play, I don't know what else the coaches could have done. There was a running clock, they had their basically 3rd string (kick off team/kids that had never ran the ball) playing offense and 2nd defense went in when the score hit 28-0. I don't have anything else to say about that.

My older child has never been on a winning team in the 4 years we've played in this league. I've sat at games where his team is losing 40-0 with 39 seconds on the clock and the other team scores on them again for a 47-0 win. There's no point in that either. Sportsmanship, good and bad, is a matter of perception on each persons part. To me that was bad sportsmanship. I doubt that coach thought so.

This season, there has been nothing but complaining constantly on this forum about Beaumont Blue. Some people are so bitter, I guess jealousy really is a green eyed monster. Grow up adults, your kids handle a loss better than you do.
But a number score of 75 to 0 is ALL THAT MATTERS in PEEWEE football. Sadly, that's all that is seen by some. I've already voiced my opinion and was told I'm clueless and need to go far away from youth sports lol, But from one parent of a LEARNING PEEWEE player to another.....I'm happy for and proud of ALL those boys!!! My team, your team, OUR BOYS!

How can you ONLY focus on a score when talking about pee wee football? Yes, we have all agreed that 75 to 0 is unheard of! But I'm sorry, if coaches put in 2nd and 3rd string players, with a running clock......what else do you want them to do? Put in those 10 play players and not encourage them to do well? I'm telling you now, if my boy was a 10 play player, and he had an opportunity to run the ball or be on the line or kick a ball, I'd be cheering go ahead on! Sounds like bmt b coaches are coaching ALL of their players at practice, not just their studs. I was not there at the game, but I have not heard any accusations of cheating, not following rules, etc. THE ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE SCORE! How about look a little past the numbers and see that there were many DIFFERENT young boys out there experiencing success. That drives me more than the score of a PEEWEE football game. It's not always about the score at this age people!

And yes, I have put myself in png g's position as a parent, and I have thought about how my son may react to a score of 75 to 0. As a parent, I would say well son, you did this, this and this great...I would point out the good and explain what we could do differently, WHICH IS WHAT I DO AFTER EVERY GAME WHETHER WIN OR LOSE! At this age, they care about.....did we win or did we lose? Some may say well we lost BAD, but in their 7 8 9 yr old mentality, they don't see how horrible that score is like we adults do. I promise you what they will remember and FEEL is what good they did when it is acknowledged! Does that mean anything?
And I can almost guarantee the head coach for png g is acknowledging the good in his boys and pointing it out to them!!! It's not ALL bad people because of a score!!

Obviously there's a strong difference in opinion on this subject, and that is perfectly ok. I would just like to say, as you have heard me say many times.....my team, your team, our boys! Lets be happy for and proud of all of our young pee wee players at whatever playing level they are! Every single one of our players are learning and developing, and that's what should drive us adults!
  11. I'm not going to say anymore about it, but I think of it like this...if you are dealt a winning hand in a card game....you going to fold? No, your going to PLAY! And yes I know and consider we are talking about young boys, as mine is one of those. There are rules we all must follow in these situations to protect our young boys. If the rules are being followed, let the boys PLAY and get every stinking bit they can out it!!! It's ok to say bmt b is a fine football team!!! I'm just sayin! ;)

It's obvious y'all just don't get it, I don't care how good Bmt b is you just don't do that at this level.. it's about instructing them on the fundamentals of the game, team concept, and good sportsmanship, they are 7&8 yrs olds.
The opposing team HC already addressed this topic. Cantbeat23 stop hating on Bmt B so much!!  My sympathy goes out to Bmt B kids because their kids aren't being challenged at all and being asked to Not Score

OF#4 REALLY!! C'MON OCHO DONT LET THAT SCORE DESTORT YOUR JUDGEMENT LOL! THEY PLAYED A PRETTY WEAK WOS WHITE TEAM  AND ONLY WON 18-0. OF IS NOT VERY BIG, BUT WOS WHITE LOOKED EVEN SMALLER THAN THEM, BUT THEY DO HAVE SOME SPEED AND THEY ARE WELL COACHED,  BUT I WOULDNT PUT THEM # 4 JUST YET LET THEM PLAY A TEAM THATS BIG WITH SOME ATHLETES ON IT AND IF THEY WIN THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL I GIVE THEM CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.
Might want to practice what you preach........ Didn't you say it's about instructing them on the fundamentals of the game, team concept, and good sportsmanship, they are 7&8 yrs olds. 8)

He obviously don't know any better, explain to me how you call off the dogs and still put up 75, you just don't do it. I have coached against teams that could have put up a 100 against us, but didn't... its called sportsmanship u figure out a way to stop scoring period
He did. He let other boys run the ball and have fun! Yes! 75 to 0 is crazy, but I wouldn't hold back to figure out a way to NOT SCORE points! Of course make adjustments and give ur 2nd and 3rd string ALOT more playing time and focus more on building those boys! They are 7, 8 and 9 yr old boys learning the game! And ya know what.....bmt b boys still have to learn and experience too! Shouldn't take that away from them just because they are TOO GOOD!!! "No Johnny, do not do your best out there because you might score a point!" Nope! And let me say, no I did not see the game but I did see a post from png g head coach and he obviously saw some sportsmanship! Bmt b coaches have a responsibility too, and that's bringing out the best in every player on that team! If they that good, then they that good, and I would tell my boys...we got a good ol butt whoopin from a very good football team!! That's life!

Holy goodness! Bmt b u guys must be on cloud nine! Not that you all are proud of dominating, but the fact that y'all are obviously blessed with an extraordinary group of young boys! Unfortunately, haven't seen the boys in action yet, but I'm looking forward to it! Enjoy your season and be proud!! I don't think a group like yours comes around too often!  ;)

Heck I'm proud of those boys and I'm not a parent or a coach in bmt!  ;)

I personally think it is great that the coaches, parents and fans take pride in not only their team but pay attention to other teams and their progress. Stjfl coaches/parents teach our kids a competitive sport where scores are kept and they have standings, playoffs then a Badd @$$ Super Bowl!!. It's all about the kids and learning this great sport and achieving goals, building confidence, and showing them if they work hard no matter if they are the biggest  fastest or most talented player and not one player wins or loses a game by themselves. Far as all the talk regarding stats, point spreads and rankings, have fun with this, its meaninglessness!! You think your kids know if they're ranked or if they're the favorite or underdog this week. If they do, then blame your coach and Not.OCHO..lol

    I agree! Good post Gucci!

Im not talking about ur team, don't be upset I didn't mean to upset anyone. I just stated what happen cause it can be a lesson learn for a teams. That kids that play that way get ejected and make their team look bad. I will stop now since you are upset. Lets drop it here. Good luck the rest of the season

Yes, and I'm sure any coach of a punch throwing player isn't proud of his player's actions.....somewhat embarrasing I would say!  Can't always resort straight to poor class friend!  ;)

I don't think there is one coach in SETX that TEACHES/COACHES a player to throw punches!  It's a physical sport being played by young boys!!  Surely not the first punch thrown I've heard of!!! Work their butts in practice and make them remember why they shouldn't throw another punch on a footbal field!!! End of story!  ;)

Bradyb, that's all that matters is if the boys learn from it! And all you can do is take care of your part! It's ok because I know who you are, and I know you will take care of yours! ;)

And it's youth football guys! Nobody should bash anyone as long as the boys are taught through their mistakes!

    Oh wow!!!  :o
Well hopefully there will be some lessons learned Monday at practice! Boys will be boys and football is a very physical sport! Slip ups are to be expected. However, IF those were my boys (coach or parent),  they'd be having a hard time getting out of bed Tues. and Wed. morning!!!  ;D

I have to agree.  They are kids.  They have so much else on their minds most of the time.  One week they are daydreaming during the game, next week you don't know where their fire is coming from...  It is fun to watch them grow...
Thank you MOJO!  You are absolutely 100% correct!  Even your ones with TALENT are still YOUNG boys that CAN LOSE FOCUS AND THE DESIRE TO PLAY FOOTBALL!!!  It's not ALL about TALENT at this age!!!

Heck, who knows of someone blessed with a gift  and they waste it???  :o Anyone?  Hmmmm......
