  1. Whats goin on in Deweyville, sure seems to be a big turnover down there this year.I know they have a strong group coming back cant imagine people not wanting to stay and see the rewards for hard work?
  2. DONT KNOCK KIRBYVILLE,THEY HAVE PLAYED EXCELLENT BALL THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.THEY BEAT A GOOD BH TEAM LAST YEAR AND AN EXCELLENT JASPER TEAM2 YEARS AGO.I AM NOT FROM KBVL BUT THEY HAVE EARNED SOME RESPECT THE LAST 2 YEARS.
  3. He coulda been 30 and still been a freshman!!!!Just kiddin.
  4. Lord lets get 06/07 started before we start talking about 08/09.I hope Buna doesnt think the move down will make their route easier. The only way to get better is hard work and we will know who did that before the first of September 06.Good luck to the coogs lord knows they played in a brutal district last year.
  5. Dont get to upset about the summer league. It is just a time to keep the kids playing.Their is absolutely nothing an official can do to control a summer league game as long as no one can foul out.The good teams adjust to the way officials call games in the regular season and the poor ones usually complain about the officiating. While they are definitely right and wrong ways to play defense neither has anything to do with the officials. Our kids have been playing in several leagues this summer and the officiating has been excellent, especially in Kountze,Coach Joubert runs a great league and should be commended for keeping all the kids in the gym. Also my hat is off to all the teams playing down there I havent seen a flagrant foul or a technical this summer.
  6. I wasnt making E/C the underdog, they have been my preseason pick all along.I saw them play and I know they have some skill guys coming back.I was just trying to get a little info on the Panthers, returning letterman etc.
  7. I have seen in most preseason polls in 24aa Anahuac has been the favorite.I have not seen them in several years, was wondering if they will still be favored over E/C if their Sr running back is out and their coach has left. How much experience did they return everywhere else?Hope the young man makes a speedy recovery. It would be a shame for him to miss his Senior season.
  8. The times I saw Rainey ,Cruise and Lewis I considered them dominant maybe we have different opinions of dominant.I wouldnt pick against Newton if they played their cheerleaders.
  9. Keep us posted Coop if you hear anything, that could turn this district upside down.
  10. I heard tonite the young man from Anahuac tore an ACL,anyone else heard anything else about this?I still look for Deweyville and Warren to vie for the 3rd playoff spot.I dont see an undefeated team in this district.I dont know anything about Hardin but the top 4 picks in my opinion are E/C,Anauhac,Warren and Deweyville .These teams are a whole lot closer in talent than some people realize.
  11. I didnt watch any games in 04,I was talking about what I saw in 05.Lewis was dominant as was Rainey and Cruise. These kinds of offensive players are just about impossible to replace at the 2a level.
  12. Not trying to put Woodville down their just in a very tough district football wise. With the talent they had last year Newton and San Augustine would have still been the favorites.I watched them a couple of time last year and it will be hard to replace their offensive players. If they return 6 they lost half the unit.I dont put much stock in JV records on the 2-a level. While those players will move up most wont contribute much their first year.Who will be their QB this year?I knew this year they would be OK at the skill positions because Cruise,Lewis AND Rainey contributed so much their JR year.Good luck to the eagles in the fall.
  13. He was Lelands assistant head coach last year.He led Brookeland to a state title a few years back and defeated a great Kountze team that year.Warren is extremely lucky to have such a coach already in house.
  14. Talked with him tonight,he is very competeive and a super nice guy.We were very lucky to have 2 coaches with so so much playoff experience .They had a very young team last year and basically had to teach the game. You couldnt ask for 2 better teachers. The program in Warren will be fine.
  15. The Hand era in Warren comes to a close this week.Word has it Leland will accept the High scool principals position at Winona .Best of luck to a great coach and thanks for all you,ve done for our program.Cris Carter will take over the head position. We are extremely lucky to have such a quality coach taking over.
  16. Dont overlook H/J,they lost Spears but the were awfully young after her. They will be solid and well coached.
  17. Folks this one isnt even close.I like H/D but West Hardin wins this one by 2 touchdowns.
  18. Woodville graduated very heavy. Not sure they can finish second in the district they are in.Newton wins it easily then San Augustine from their its a toss up.Woodville lost Rainey-QB,Cruise-RB and Lewis WR.All 3 of these were unanamous first team all district picks. Not sure they have anyone ready to fill these spots.
  19. I know E/C has Tramain coming back at QB this year. How many Seniors did they lose and will they move Guillory to another position?Last year I saw him backing up the QB spot,he is a quality athelete so he will probably be in the mix somewhere.
  20. I dont know much about Buna, but I hear West Hardin beat them last year.Is that true?Just asking.Warren and Deweyville both beat West Hardin and both have lots of returning starters.Buna will learn quickly their are some good teams in 2-a.E/C has to be the favorite until someone knocks them off,Anuahac will be solid and Warren and Deweyville will be real close. How did Hardin do last year?Havent heard much from them?
  21. I know Buna was in a brutal district last year, but I dont see a playoff caliber team yet.Ithink the top 2 spots are E/C and Anauhac and the fnal spot will be a toss up between Deweyville and Warren. Both of them made the playofs last year and have lots of returning starters.Winning the ones they should win at home and injuries will determine how this last playoff spot turns out.JMO
  22. Colmesneil fan,Your not gonna upset me I dont have anyone playing in this district.I watched Groveton,West Sabine,Colmesneil, Hull Daisetta and West Hardin last year. While I dont know how many kids any of them lost to graduation I know West Hardin has just about all of them coming back. They were as good last year as Groveton or West Sabine and just got better by playing a brutal schedule for a small school. If they stay healthy with Letsinger,Simmons etc they will more than hold their own in any 1-A district in football and basketball.Hull Daisetta will also be pretty solid but I think they will play for the second spot. From there down it will be pretty even.I guess we will just have to disagree on this one and look back next fall to see who is right.I wish Colmesneil the best because I am partial to Tyler county kids.Good luck to yall
  23. I have a lot of respect for Hull Daisetta but West Hardin has as good a Senior group coming back as anyone around.I am not from West Hardin but everyone else in this district is playing for second. In the other district I havent seen Lovelady so I cant even pick that one, however Groveton is usually pretty good.Dont know what graduation did to them.JMO
  24. Altofan, Dont overlook the West Hardin Oilers our boys played them and Groveton last year and both teams will be very good in 1-A ball.Groveton will be the only team in 23a that can even stay on the field with West Hardin. They have Letsinger coming back at QB along with all their skill players and most of their linemen. They more than held their own in 2-A last year so dont snooze when you play them.H/D will also be better than most of the teams in 23A other than Groveton. In 23a I would give the nod to Groveton,Burkeville and West Sabine.Chester will also have a couple of kids to keep an eye on in Jake Flowers and Brock Mahaffey.I am not downing Colmesneil but the didnt have a whole lot last year, baseball is still the king up there.JMO
  25. All successful programs have one thing in common-DISCIPLINE-you simply dont win in playoff games without it.While kids will always have multiple interest ,to be successful the sport you play has to have your undivided attention ,at least during your practise time.Geez if Lumberton couldnt agree to wear the same shirt to practise no wonder they struggled.Best of luck to the new skipper down there.Just let him do his job you may be surprised at the results.
