  1. Been telling yall.Kirbyville is the most underated team in the area.Dont see them beating WOS.But they will play as hard as anyone around, just not as many horses in the stable.
  2. Warren looked OK despite having 3 very important players missing with injuries on the defensive side.Offense looked pretty sharp when the first unit was on the field.Esway is the best kept secret in east Texas .The young linebackers played well but all 3 injured players were returning all district guys.Tarkington is in for a long year in 3-a.JMO :!: :!: :!:
  3. The most underated team in SETX has to be Kirbyville. They havent gotten any attention the last couple of years and you better have it buckled up tight when you play them
  4. Maybe you ought to come down and give it a try Colm1 :!: :!: :!:
  5. Jessie Wolf was better than pretty good,I had him second in my top 10.John was just in another world.
  6. Warren Warriors-John Elliott(CAN STILL REMEMBER THE CROWD SINGING BIG BAD JOHN) star at UT and in the Jets super bowl win. :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
  7. Yes sir these guys could play.I havent kept up with them near as close recently so I may be short changing some the young guys.
  8. Deweyville of course!!Only town in Texas where you can buy a used toothbrush at a garage sale.Just kidding DP#1.I havent seen you post lately, wanted to make sure you were still there.
  9. Warren Warriors 1.John Elliott-Texas Longhorns-NY Jets(Super Bowl Ring) 2.Jessie Wolf-Prarie View-NFL 3.James Wolf-Prarie View-NFL 4.Bucky White-Not sure of the college-Oilers 5.Max Mcgeary-Baylor 6.Bruce Flebbe-(Great running back,decided not to go to college)
  10. I,M not sure Anahuac should be the 24aa favorite. The loss of their RB could devastate them as well as the coaching change. Not badmouthing any coaches just takes a while to put in a system. Also dont see Deweyville in the last spot.E/C has to be the favorite.
  11. Both E/C and Woodville will have some big shoes to fill.E/C has tradition and a good returning QB.Woodville lost a very good QB,RB and the best wide receiver in the area so they will have to make some major adjustments. Not sure who will step for the eagles however it will probably be kids that were varsity subs last year.Good luck to both teams.
  12. This will be the group that decided not to put in the work this summer. They will be easy to spot, they will come out strong the first couple of series and fade against strong teams. They will win about half their games due to superior talent and weak scheduling. At Thanksgiving they will be watching games and blaming the shortcomings on everyone else. They havent figured out what the WOS and Newtons of the world have(their is no OFF season)you have to work to win.We as fans will have to wait to put the names with the results. :!: :!: :!:
  13. Thanks Coop. These kids parents should be proud, they are as polite a group as I have ever been around!!!!
  14. The Southeast Texas Slam 16U club had another strong showing in the Denton Summer Shootout July 14th,15th and 16th in Denton Texas. The boys captured the consolation prize going 5-1 for the tourney. The boys defeated a Mt. Pleasnat club that was previously 27-0 for the year in double overtime and the Oklahoma Kings to garner the top seed coming out of pool play. The only loss for the tourney was in the opening round of bracket play to a strong team from Wicita,Kansas by 3 points. Highlights for the SLAM: *Stephen Moten-(Ozen) Once again had some unbelievable dunks and a beautiful touch on his jumper. He scored at will against the Colorado Red Shield in the final game. *Marcus Malbrough-(WB)and Derek Savoy(Ozen)Controlled the boards and provided valuable scoring from the post positon against some very good big men. *Ryan Weldon(HJ) Floor leader who led his team with his press breaking abilities and the ability to dish the rock where it needed to go.Also did a great defensive job. *Josh Payne(HJ) Playing possibly the best game of the tourney against the Kansas City club until he broke his hand played pressure "D" and scored on drives and the long ball. *Paul Sims(Warren) Knocking down 3 point bombs at crucial times and finishing at the foul line in pressure packed situations. *Jon Ward(Lumberton) Playing both the guard and post position after the injury to Payne did it all scoring, rebounding and playing tough defense.(Coach Henry has a kid here to build around). *Stephon Jackson(Ozen) and Scott Kearns (WB)Playing valuable minutes at the PG and guard positions contributed greatly. It was an excellent team effort winning 1 game in double overtime and several more by 5 points or less.Congratulations to the team and Coach Eric Weldon. The SLAM will travel to San Antonio to play in the San Antonio Shootout July 28th,29th and 30th.Good luck guys.
  15. The ag booth at Warren.Hot shot Odom can flat out cook the Q.Be ready to wait in line though!!!!!
  16. John Elliott from Warren Texas. Most posters may have never heard of him.Played for Warren in the 60,s,went to UT and started on a national champion defense and later was a starter for the NY Jets in the famous Joe Namath Super Bowl.In high school he was the most brutal running back I ever saw.He played defensive tackle at UT and for the Jets.
  17. They got a great team, it just doesnt play football.
  18. This is gonna be closer than alot of people think. No one will go undefeated in this district.E/C has to be the favorite then my picks are Warren,Deweyville and Anahuac.Dont mean to knock Anahuac I just know they lost their best running back.Warren lost their QB last year in the first quarter against Wdvl up until then they were playing pretty solid. Not much depth for the Warriors at that spot.
  19. I think everyone is overlooking Warren in 24aa.They have alot of folks back from last years team.Rita knocked out the game last year between them and Deweyville or we may know a little more about who has the edge this year.Warren did beat West Hardin last year and I am not sure about Deweyville and WH heads up matchup.I think both of these clubs are closer to EC than some folks think.I am also sure the injury at Anahuac will hurt the panthers chances.I look for Warren to make the playoffs again this year.
  20. Bleed Orange,I couldnt agree more about HJ.You just dont replace players like Yoshika Spears. The young guns over there will be fun to watch, they like Orangefield will play pressure defense and will be able to shoot the ball very well.I have a feeling a lot of D1 coaches will be kickin themselves for not pickin Yo up.She was a"tweener" playing both the 2 and 3 but is the kind of player that would help turn any program around.Good luck to Ofld this year I will probably see some of these 3a games in this district.I always make the rounds in the playoffs.
  21. Thats true,I cant help but smile when I hear people talking about not winning district but making the playoffs.Years ago if you didnt win it you stayed put.Seems like we have watered it down now with some sub par 500 teams makin it.I watched Silsbee a couple of times last year and they will be very good.I heard they got kellums to coach them replacing Bush,if so they will still be tough.
  22. Meagan was the player I was referring to who was injured.H/F was not the same team after they lost her. They will be pretty good, unfortunately pretty good in this district(which will be brutal) may not be enough to even contend.
  23. I think HF lost their best player to graduation.I cant remember her name, but she missed the last couple of games with an injury.Kirbyville will be OK but I dont see them in the playoff hunt. There will be 1 very good club out of this district staying at home.My top picks are O-field,Silsbee,WOS and Hardin Jefferson.H/J will be the youngest of this group and may be a year away but they could be very dangerous. They have some excellent young shooters and will play solid defense.
