  5. Guys, we really shouldn't be doing this. I am as frustrated as much as anybody outside of the Mustang coaching staff and players that they are still at 9 games and that teams that have available slots would also rather risk a 9 game season rather than take the field against the Mustangs. However, coaches have differing theories on how to use their pre-district schedule to prepare their teams for the district portion of their schedule and, hopefully, for the post season. Thus, we shouldn't castigate a coach over who he does and does not want to play as we can't look into his mind and see what how he wants his early season to play out. Let's just cool down on it.
  6. The Silsbee Tigers look to take their final step in Class 4A basketball playoffs as they take on the Dallas Lincoln Tigers in the Class 4A State Championship Game! The Silsbee Tigers, 31-5 on the season and Region III champions, began their playoff road with a 120-68 bi-district win over Liberty followed by a 104-59 area round victory over Houston Furr. After a 97-69 regional quarterfinal win over Houston Sterling and an 81-69 regional semifinal victory over Lufkin Hudson, the Silsbee captured the Region III title and earned a trip to the State Championship Tournament with an 85-62 win over Navasota in the regional final. The Silsbee Tigers punched their ticket to this game with a 89-47 win over Levelland in the state semifinals. Meanwhile, the Lincoln Tigers, 23-14 on the season and Region II champs, began their playoff path with a 79-49 bi-district win over Bonham followed by a 77-52 area round win over Carrollton Ranchview. After topping Dallas Carter 67-66 in the regional quarterfinal and Paris 73-66 in the regional semifinal, the Lincoln Tigers beat Dallas Triple A 63-54 in the regional final to earn their spot in the tournament. Lincoln advanced to this game with a 62-59 over La Marque in the state semfinals.   7. The East Chambers Buccaneers look to clear the last hurdle between them and the 3A State Title as they battle the Brownfield Cubs in this Class 3A State Championship Game! The Buccaneers, 34-6 on the season and Region III champs, began their playoff road with 67-39 bi-district victory over East Bernard followed by an 75-55 area round over Buffalo. After dispatching Buna in the regional quarterfinals, 75-48, the Bucs took care of Frankston in the regional semifinals, 73-45, and then punched their ticket to state with a 71-69 win over Kountze in the regional finals. They earned their spot in this game with a 66-61 win over Van Alstyne in the semifinals The Cubs, 29-7 and Region I champs, began their playoff road with a 86-54 bi-district win over Crane followed by a 76-37 area round win over Littlefield. The Panthers topped off a 62-54 regional quarterfinal win over Kermit with a 103-26 regional semifinal win over Texas Leadership Charter Academy and 80-58 regional final victory over Childress. The Cubs defeated Aransas Pass, 70-54 in the semifinals to gain their spot.   8. The Big Sandy Wildcats take one more step toward the Class 2A State Championship as they take on the Muenster Hornets in this state semifinal. The Wildcats, 37-2 on the season and Region III Champions, began their playoff road with a 71-44 bi-district win over Lufkin Pineywoods followed by a 101-52 area round victory over Martinsville. The Wildcats then followed a 72-40 regional quarterfinal win over San Augustine with a 73-41 regional semifinal win over Grapeland and 70-45 win over Tenaha to take the Region III title and earn their berth in the State Championship tournament. Meanwhile, the Hornets, 33-3 on the season and Region II Champions, began their playoff road with a 87-65 win over Dallas Gateway in bi-district followed by a 69-44 win over Windthorst. A 75-48 regional quarterfinal win over Petrolia, a 59-48 regional semi victory over Clarksville and a 59-41 regional final over Electra sent the Hornets to this state tournament. The winner of this game will face the Canadian/Thorndale winner tomorrow at 1:30 pm for the 2A State Championahip.   15. Can't say that I am surprised after the goings on with the handling of his most recent contract extension. You could tell that there were some hard feelings that came out of that process. And as, I think it was One4All had indicated, he had been putting his hat into the ring for other jobs. This will be an interesting search.
