  1. Way to go Lady Tigers! What an explosion in the 3rd quarter! If my math was right I believe we outscored them 34-9. Ang had over 30 points but Cierra Wilson had close to 30 herself! Chelsey Tyler had some real good assists from the point and Brittany Henry gets better every game! Also Katy Wigham is really helping at the post! It was good to see Mary Moody back tonight! Keep this run going! I hope I get to watch you guys a bunch more this year!
  2. First of all, Congrats Lady Tigers coaching staff and players! You made us Silsbee faithful really proud. As has been mentioned, Ang was awesome but so were Chelsey Tyler and Brittney Henry. You guys each stepped it up and were leaders for an awesome TEAM! When you were down by so much at the end of the first quarter but fought back with such a strong second quarter and then held off HJ's rally at the end, it brought back memories of last year's District championship season. Secondly, HJ is still an awesome team too. I know they will bounce back. Honestly I hated to see either team lose. I definitely got my money's worth. This district is tough! Go Lady Tigers!
  3. I've had the privilege of watching Ang play for years. She is top notch on and off the court. Hats off to Lamar for opening the gates for local talent.
  4. Ang Green has my vote as well. Any time you score 33 points in a game against a great team like HJ says something about her. She was also very clutch down the stretch in helping her team win a huge game. Lamar's getting a real jewel!
  5. Well, it sure was good to see most of our girls back in action! Chelsye Tyler did a great job in her first game of this season! Ang is Ang and that's awesome! Brittany Henry's return sure helped the inside game and Mary Moody was missed too last game but came back tonight to own the boards! Coach K has got to be proud of the whole team too for playing together so well and beating a 5A team! I hear the Hudson tournament is really tough but you guys are up to it! Keep up the good work because district is right around the corner and 21-3A may be the toughest in the state!
  6. First of all, let me say congrats to Nederland. You guys played hard. I wish you the best this season. To the Lady Tigers, we are still proud of ya'll. Not many teams can be without Brittany Henry, Chelsye Tyler, Raynisha Washington, Chasisty Gilder, and as of the first quarter Mary Moody (who had to leave for stitches by her eye) and still even compete. These are five of your top players that you were counting on. From what I've seen of Coach Killam over the past year+ I know he'll find a way for the Lady Tigers to still be competitive until some of our girls are healed up. Ang, you had to battle through double and triple teams but you'd better get ready for more of the same in games to come. This should make you a better player. To the rest of the teams we'll be playing, even with our girls out we are still dangerous... remember Nederland only beat us by three points despite their advantages. When some of our girls get back we should be even better than before all the injuries. Some of you younger girls are getting some good playing experience. So keep your heads up and play with heart and class. We as Silsbee fans are behind you!
  7. I'm proud of our Silsbee Lady Tigers! They played hard and wond 2nd place in the Nederland Tournament. They jumped on Lumberton and led by 30 at one time and won 76-63 in a hard fought game this morning. Ang Green lit it up for 41 points! Then Silsbee had to take on San Antonio Churchill in the finals. Churchill advanced to the state tournament in 5A last year and is ranked 12th in 5A this year. They are the real deal! Their 6'4" post is good and they said she has signed with Missouri of the Big 12. They are loaded with talent. Silsbee refused to back down and led 7-0 after 4 minutes. But Churchill finally prevailed 73-55. It was a real good game! Silsbee took another injury hit as starting post Brittany Henry went down with an ankle sprain in the 4th quarter. Get well quick Brittany! But to you Lady Tigers and coaching staff....you did us proud and you did it with class! Keep up the good work!
  8. Here are some Friday scores from the Nederland Tournament: Silsbee 72 LCM 47 Lumberton 61 Hampshire Fannett 60 OT Silsbee and Lumberton will play in the Semi Finals Saturday Morning at 10:30 in the competiion gym. Winner plays championship vs Churchill or Nederland at 5 Loser plays at 3:30 for 3rd place in the dog dome
  9. What a win for the Lady Tigers! It was a marquee match up of the state's #5 team in 3A (Silsbee) and the state's #4 ranked team in 2A (Hemphill). Silsbee is missing three starters but still found a way to prevail! Way to Go Lady Tigers!!!!! You played with awesome heart!
  10. After watching her for the past few years, I would say she is a special player.
  11. Silsbee is missing three starters, including two for injuries. But Huntington is the real deal. They started three girls at least 6 feet tall and their guards shot the three well. They also split with Diboll last year and have everybody back. They are in the same district with Diboll and Crockett who were in the regional tournament with Orangefield and West Orange last year. From what I heard, Silsbee played hard but with all the players out they are still needing time to mesh. That was a tough team to open up with and they play Hemphill who is ranked 4th in 2A Tuesday. That schedule ought to make this young team a lot better!
  12. I agree with the picks with a couple of doubts. I realize even though I have been in this area for many years and am on up in years, I feel that Kellum from Kirbyville should have definitely been on the super team! And nothing against Coach Ancelot, she's a great coach, but she didn't win her district and Coach Killam was the district coach of the year and Silsbee won more games than any other team in the area. Even though the Lady Tigers lost in the quarterfinals to WOS, they still beat them three times and were also 2-0 against Lumberton. To me that's pretty solid reasons for him. Congrats to B. Scott. She is an awesome player! UH got a good one for their program!
  13. I agree whole heartedly. These girls are the real deal! Congrats!!!!
  14. I agree with Bleed Orange! I'll bet there are a lot of area coaches and teams that would love to see her back at WOS next year just to get a little pay back.
  15. I agree with Cat 22. The district will be down some from this year but I think you said it well about the district teams for next year. My money is on Ang Green as the player to watch next year. KK Little will also be a force to contend with. Silsbee, Orangefield, and Hardin Jefferson are all well coached and still have the talent to win. Bridge City could well be a sleeper!
  16. Im a little miffed about these rankings myself. Congrats to Orangefield and Lumberton for at least making the top 20. But Silsbee beat Lumberton twice, West Orange three times, split with Orangefield, beat Kennard and was district champs in a brutal district...and won 29 games! How does that relate to being bumped out of the top 20?
  17. My reply about the TABC poll was what I was saying thanks for...but I also want to congratulate Miss Little.
  18. I totally agree Bobcatfan! To have an honors team like that and have no Dee Kellum, Ang Green, or Kristy Sanders is nuts! I also agree with your comments about their poll too. Maybe the TABC teams will be more representative of our area. When does it come out?
  19. Well, once again this is my personal All SETXsports team for 2006-07. Last year B.James of WOS and G. Mattox of Kountze struck me as the premier players in our area but this year there is a bumper crop. I am listing ten that I think are as good as it gets that I have seen play this year. Brittany Scott- (WOS) In my personal opinion she is the best player in all of class 3A and is a special player that can carry a team on her shoulders. Dee Kellum (Kirbyville)- another super star who can do it all and like Scott can carry her team sometimes by herself. Ang Green (Silsbee)- Although just a junior, Ang is proving herself to be at least mentioned in the same breath as former Silsbee greats LaQuan Stallworth and Brandi McCain who I also enjoyed watching play. Somewhat overshadowed by Scott's 49 point masterpiece in the regional quarterfinals, Green quietly led Silsbee with 31. Honestly, after seeing her ankle wrapped in ice after the area game I wasn't sure she would even be playing against WOS...she's got guts! Courtney Wilson (Lumberton)- In my opinion, the premier low post player in all of SETX this six footer dominates on both offense and defense and I love her attitude! Chelsea Pickering (Lumberton)- She can play any position on the floor and is a master on both ends of the court. She is a force! Kristy Sanders (Orangefield)- A great point guard. Her presence on the court seems to make her whole team better. Quick and tough and sees the court well. Brandi Fowler (Silsbee)- Brandi has had a great career at SHS and I thought this was her best year. She is wicked on the baseline and quick. Memri Carmen (HF)- Another superstar who feasted from both inside and outside. I think she is an incredible athlete. Janae Henderson (WOS)- In my opinion the one true big low post in 21-3A. She has a beautiful touch on her shot and complimented Scott well. KK Little (OF)- KK impressed me both times she played Silsbee this year both on offense and defense. She is tough and gritty and does many things to help her team. I noticed on the regional program that she is also just a junior. In fairness to Central and Barbers Hill, I didn't get to see them play but I know they had very good players too. Once again, these are my personal nominations for the All SETXsports team if my vote counts.
  20. Well, this is one person's views of the the awesome season for district 21-3A, a district I still consider as the toughest 3A district in the state. Let me begin with my home favorites, the Silsbee Lady Tigers. We are very proud of Coach Killam, Coach Franks and the Lady Tigers! You displayed a lot class and heart throughout the season. I have watched Silsbee basketball for years and even played the game myself. I was concerned how a new coach would be able to mesh the girls especially since we were headed into the new megadistrict. A lot of people picked Silsbee to be a third place finisher behind Orangefield and WOS. But you guys battled each night and actually won the district championship with a 13-1 record against a brutally talented field. Great job! You beat WOS three times and split with Orangefield, both great teams and you came close to representing our district in Huntsville. Even in the WOS loss you battled hard and came within a few breaks of a victory. We are losing a bunch of good seniors but I know that Ang Green and Co. will be ready for next year. As for the Lady Bobcats, I was very impressed! Coach Ancelot also did a great job this year in my opinion. Ya'll are great TEAM like Silsbee. I actually got to watch the regional loss to Diboll but you guys battled hard and represented our district well. Great job! Your fans are great supporters like our Silsbee fans! WOS has a premier player in B. Scott. Going into the season I thought ya'll probably had the best talent of any team in our district. You did however battle to the end to make the playoffs. Then you won some big games over Orangefield, Navasota and finally over my Tigers. But I must also say that I was disappointed with the effort against Crockett. I guess you didn't have your legs after the Silsbee game but it looked like you gave up in the second half. Where was that enthusiasm you had against Silsbee? I realize you didn't get the same calls you got earlier in the week and you didn't have your bench taunt the opposing crowd but we were hoping for a chance to cheer you on. Our girls would have loved to have been in your place! But I must say that I think that B. Scott is the best player in class 3A and I know we will see a lot of her in college and the WNBA! Kirbyville was another great team with an awesome player. D. Kellum is a legit star! You would have made the playoffs if you had been in any other district. HJ was rebuilding but Coach Sims brought another competitive team to the table that was playoff caliber in any other district. HF's Memri Carmen was another super star in this district. Ya'll gave the tigers two tough games. Bridge City was also in the wrong district. Ya'll are also a good team as well. Jasper struggled all year but I believed they improved a bunch. I may have withdrawls now that the season is over but I can't wait for another great year for district 21-3A next year! We have the best coaches around and the field will be tough again next year. Thanks for the memories!
  21. Silsbee tried and tried to get a warm-up game - but no one wanted to play them or they already had a game scheduled or they wanted to play when Silsbee couldn't. No warm-up game yet. Scouting is also an issue because the coaches want to be able to scout the teams they are going to be playing next week on Monday and Tuesday.
  22. Who, in your opinion are the best coaches in the area?
