There was nothing like those games, in Kountze and East Chambers' old gyms! 
Arguably the best teams to come throughout EC didn't make State, bc Kountze and Arp were just that good. Thomas and McDonald went to 4 straight regional tournaments. Loss to Kountze in the regional final twice (Freshman and Junior years), Kountze would go on to win State both years. And then loss to Arp in the regional semifinals twice (Soph. and Senior). Arp would win State one of thos years, lose to the state champs the other. If we could of had those 4 years of players at any other time, we would no doubt have a state championship. 

Those are the teams I think of when I think of Kountze basketball, 06'-10'. Roman Walker, Devin Bray, Domingo... all those guys. It felt like we were playing a friggin college team when we played them. They literally beat us by as much as 60 pts some games lol. It was downright sad. 
I loved watching them play EC with Vance McDonald and Tramain Thomas. It felt like you weren't even watching high school basketball when they played. 

Yeah I can remember in 05-06 . My senior year when the bell would ring for school to get out at 3:21 there would already be a line out in front of the gym to watch Kountze vs EC that night 

Ok I remember being at the one in 02.... I was in 8th grade. I remember them broadcasting  the end of the state semi final game over the PA system at the middle school. Me and my parents drove to Austin after school that day.

Ever since I can remember we have ran that defense. 

That regional final game was crazy!!  I remember that game like it was a few weeks ago.  Buna got outscored 7-1 in the last 1:04 of the game and missed 4 or 5 free throws to ice the game in my opinion.  3 pointer with 1 second left then marks half court heave that barely missed.

I've heard Michael McMahon was friggin bad to the bone. And I played against the 7 ft. Marks guy in an alumni game a few years ago. That's the biggest human I have ever stood beside. 

Kountze game moved to 8pm. Doubleheader 

Hitchcock had solid post player that gave  Kountze fits. Kountze was up like 17 at one point and Kountze sit Stanford for most of the 4th. Hitchcock wasn't the classiest team either. All this was told to me by a neutral basketball fan at the game.

I think Hitchcock will be tougher than either team that Kountze would see in the second round. To me yes TJ has to play well but Dallion Edwards will factor just as much.

I'd love to see Kountze beat Teague. But they gave us a heck of a game last season. But yes I want nothing more than for Buna to beat La Marque as well.

In Kountze's last three State tournament runs (2015, 2007, 2006) they've went as District Co-Champs. I'm hoping we can make it a fourth. 

Kountze had 2 or three seasons years back were they didn't make it past the third round. As Kountze fans we call those down years. Kountze will be fine

I'm not knocking Kountze because they are always good. For this group to be in a seeding game and to be Co district champs Coach Joubert would have to be in the Coach of the Year conversation. At times this year he had to do it with smoke and mirrors. Duane Joubert is one of the best coaches is Se Texas .

And the talent is not the Usual Kountze talent....  Cant take nothing away from Buna they got a good ball club..  Wouldn't surprise me to see one of these teams make it to state. The Region is not as good as most think it is.

Not saying the game wasn't called fairly. Just saying #2 off the floor was costly!!! And Kountze came to play. Coach J does a great job. We ll see y'all Friday!!! Good luck to both teams!!!
