Under no circumstance would vidor of best Shelbyville. The dragons are for real. And very deserving of their ranking. As far as all tourney selection goes that is done by coaches in tourney. Not by HJ coaches. 24,15 and 5 were all very deserving in my opinion for Shelbyville. As were 4 and 2 for HJ.

Yes, Shelbyville put it on HJ pretty damn good. Shelbyville is ranked #1 for a reason. Their starting 5 is very good. HJ is continuing to grow as a team and figure out their identity. Teams have good games and bad games. This was clearly a bad game for HJ, and Shelbyville capitalized on it. Call it what you want....playing without a starter now for 3 weeks, playing their 13th game in 9 days, aches and pains, etc. it finally caught up with them. The same way HJ beating Nederland early in season and now losing by 20 points. The same way Nederland lost to Spring Hill by 20 and then beat them by 10 two days later. It happens. If HJ and Shelbyville played 10 times I’m guessing it would be competitive in most games and each team winning 5 times. I think most will tell you that HJ was ranked a little high in the TABC rankings after losing a bulk of their scoring from a year ago. I diasagree. When they play the way they are capable they are one the best teams in Region 3. But with no true go to guy they all must play well to beat the better teams. I love what Coach D is doing by playing so many young guys. This year will be another great year, and the future is extremely bright in Sour Lake!!

Don’t sleep on Cleveland. Very athletic and got hot from downtown in first half. 4, 20 and 30 are all three very good. HJ also only got four 3’s for the game.

Yates too much for HJ tonight. The Hawks left it all on the court though. Give tons of props to Jalen tonight. Not mentioned on this thread is that Persohn played only 3-4 minutes and suffered a ankle in the 1st and never returned. Also both twins left in 1st half with ankle injuries. One returned and the other tried in 2nd half and couldn’t make it. Thanks for the great season from those seniors in Sneed, Upchurch, Murray and Morreale!! Yates is the most talented group of kids I’ve seen in a long time. 23 is the real deal!!

First time to post in a while. Let’s be honest about a few things. Nobody including the majority of HJ fans expected this game to be close. In my mind I was expected a 15-20 point game. And the Silsbee fan picks of single digits it just flat out absurd. Silsbee IMO is more athletic than I’ve ever seen them and are more physical. McCain looks like a man child out there. The size on the perimeter with the exception of Bush hurt the HJ guards. HJ goes as the three ball goes. The quarters they hit a few threes were the quarters that were close in score. Fortunately for the Hawks Persohn and Bruce had great nights or the score could of been worse. I was thoroughly impressed with the mid range game that Barnes has. Silsbee rebounded very well for being as small as some fans claim they are. And for the fans that claim that Silsbee is in a slump they might consider the competition they’ve played. Silsbee is as good as advertised, and I think could be better than last year if they had some leadership out of any players. Bush is as close to leader as they have IMO. Silsbee and HJ will both be fine and do what they are expected to do in the playoffs. Only thing disappointing to me is that the gym doesn’t fill up anymore for this game, and that a few fans on both sides get out of hand. Overall still a great game and fun atmosphere. And yes, the Hecklers are making their way back. They have some young leadership but have high expectations.

Camp is open to students outside the H-J school district. Camp is June 5-9 at H-J HS gyms. Doors open at 8 AM each day with instruction from 9 AM-4 PM and doors closing at 5 PM (except on Friday, camp will close at noon). We have a half day option for players 6 years and under. We accept campers from ages 4-15.
