I agree & ik half this stuff posted by some is  bs who have no real clue about any teams program. Ik who most of the "big name" coaches are and hey maybe one wants the Nederland job & thats all good. I also know what Barrow's career is & what he brings to the program. For some to act like he had nothing much too do with nederlands success the last 23 years or he cant handle being a head coach is a joke. 

I'm ready to see all applicants resumes like most, even the fresh idea out side guys to find out who all stacks up well against the resumes i do know  might be applying. Anything else on Coach Beasley's resume to go along with freshman O-LINE,zone blocking & bull rush expertise? I'm sure Coach Bass is a good coach also but need more then the infamous "home cooking" card & 1 win over Neumann the last 7 years.   

Yep, a lot of nice jobs on that list with more to come...

With all the success Nederland and Neumann has had over the 24 years some upgrades could've been done to the facilities forthe kids sake. They are more deserving than all programs in SETX. There arent anymore LN out there that will accept the current situation/facilities. Champagne taste on a beer budget will get you what you pay for....jmo

I have talked to several people in the know.... And It is almost 100% that the A.D. position will go to 14.2. The Head coaching position will more than likely be M.B.G. himself.... Stay tuned for more as it becomes available......

Reagan as I stated earlier, when you have a program that has been successful like Nederland has under Larry, you should stay in house. You probably shouldn't stay in house when a head coach/staff does in the August Era. That is how schools with tradition continue there tradition. Just saying be careful what you wish for cuz you may get it. JMO! 

My opinion is not fact. It is based off observation. It could be right and it could be wrong. 
I'll use Barbers Hill again, because they were able to go out and get a top of the line coach
Would you rather coach at a school with top of the line facilities, get paid 30k more bucks a year, and be in a district where the residents have no problem passing bonds to further the betterment of the program?
or 
Take 30k less, play at a mediocre field with below average facilities, and be in a community that time and time again doesn't help the program renovate?
I'm not from Nederland, but can tell you that program is filled with very good coaches. If you can get a guy like the Hill got from Allen, that would be a no brainer. I doubt very seriously that guy ever considered Nederland though.
 

Brubaker presents a very logical argument to stay in house and keep Barrow...I wont re-state it but suffice it to say that I agree with his points about Monte...all we get from Reagan is the "home cooking is no good" argument with no actual facts to bear that out...you can hit or miss with a home grown guy or an out of town guy...it depends on THAT guy and his staff...for me, Barrow and this group of coaches have more than proven themselves to know the formula for success...if the answer is already here, why do you need to go looking all over the place?  I believe that it is better for the KIDS to keep as close to the current situation as possible in place...isn't that ultimately what this is about?
One last point, during many a season, you hear other coaches and opponents of Nederland talk about how well coached and well prepared Nederland always is...who do you think does that?  Neumann played a key role in that, yes, but he certainly could not do that alone...breaking this staff up would make many Nederland opponents very happy people, I assure you, and take away one of the biggest advantages that Nederland has experienced over the years...you can't tell me that Nederland was the most talented team in this district for 5 consecutive years during the DC run.

Neumann built a program, he didn't win in a season or two, he built a culture of winning and formula in the offseason with minute details that made it happen.  Barrow led the implementation of the program and knows the formula.  He was also a 3 sport guy in high school and led the girls softball team to the state tournament so I know he has an appreciation for all sports, not just football.  He has shown the ability to adapt the offense to Nederland's personnel, shifting in and out of different forms of the spread and even spending time under center when the personnel dictated.  What he did with Nederland's offense last year with the revolving door of young injured QB's says about all I need to know.  There you go, thoughts on why he will be successful as an AD and head football coach.

Stattrax gave several good reasons & hes a proven good coach with a solid resume. No one has to show or sell anything about Nederland to Barrow or the other coaches at Nederland to convince them to take the job becuz they built it from the the ashes 0-10 & 2-8 seasons. Do you know anything about the man or anything about the other quality coaches at Nederland in every sport that live & raise their families in Nederland?  Bottom line is you probably don't & you just like having a good time making comments about hope & change & what if's & good ole boy home cooking. Barrow is a legit coach & a legit person ask any coach in the district. Now what reasons do you have why Barrow wouldnt  be a good head coach at Nederland & his staff now couldnt continue LN success & possibly create more success?     

Hell I want to chime in.... I think Nederland is in a bad spot. LN was doing a lot with a little. Lets use a high profile name for sake of argument. Donaher has applied at PN-G twice. Last go around, he came in, looked at the facilities, looked at the schools, then met the athletes. He quickly pulled his name out of the hat afterwards. Any good coach will do that. I think a young, inexperienced coach might come in, but, after a look at the the above mentioned, a high profile guy will not be interested. This is Texas. U..I.L.... Home of recruitment wars in High School. If you do not have something to pull in kids, they are not going to come. Barrow is capable, and IMO the best choice. He will deal with all the shortcomings and try to keep the LN tradition alive. New coaches want new things, and I am just not sure Nederland is ready for it. I can say this, no one will do what LN did for Nederland. I would just try to keep the hope alive with a local guy that will make it work.... I think Nederland is short on facilities... Short on bond approvals.... Short on Corporate tax money, and short on P.A.M. talent. As everyone knows also, its very difficult for an outsider to be LOVED.... For sale sings and all that.... MONTE is the best chance in IMO................

Dr. Perez is very good at her job. Regardless who gets the job, she is far from an idiot, very far.

Its no secret that certain members of the school board wanted Neumann out. Those same members are also the very ones wanting to make the bball coach the next AD. Im not saying that he was run out cause I dont know that but, it sure is strange the way it all went down. If the AD position is given to anyone other than the next Head Football Coach it could spell disaster for the football program. As for myself, I will voice my concerns to our board members when the opportunity presents itself. And remember, they are all elected by us.

Facts- Nederland football program was not good at all for over 25 years until LN took over & implemented his beliefs & system. 20 playoff trips, a few deep runs in playoffs, a few upsets over higher ranked teams & several undefeated district titles with Barrow as his assistant the whole time. The LN system & program works at Nederland, the last 2 years before LN system the program ran by an out of area guy the teams i believe were 0-10 & 2-8, why change something that is proven success? Why put Nederland Coaches & their families out of jobs based on any agendas & egos. Barrow is a damn good football coach, experienced,fair,honest & wants the job based on all the right things not solely on money,facilities or politics.  

For those wondering why we haven't heard from Larry, so far that's been his choice. I've called and emailed him. I'm sure every other media outlet has as well. The morning 6 put it out there (I was aware it was going to happen but respected the coach who had not told the players yet) I left him a message. I thought it was only fair that before it was confirmed through the district that I gave him a chance to tell me it was OK to run with it. Nothing but the most utmost respect for LN. 

I have not been very active on here recently, but as a Bulldog supporter, I do have quite a bit of interest in this...Coach Neumann was absolutely phenomenal for Nederland football and athletics, in general...more importantly, he was successful at building solid young men who learned how to put "team" first and be responsible individuals...job well done, Coach, you will be sorely missed...you often hear the phrase "leave it better than you found it"; Coach Neumann can check that box off in a big way!!
For the reasons mentioned above, I throw my support in the corner of Monte Barrow...he has been with Neumann for the entirety of this run and has been an invaluable contributor to this legacy...he understands the game extremely well and more importantly, he cares about the kids and knows what it takes to develop them, both as players and equally important, as people.
He's paid his dues and I am convinced is more than ready for this opportunity...plus, Nederland has one hell of a staff overall, and promoting Monte is the best way to ensure that this stays in tact as well...lot's of good coaches on that sideline and I for one, want them all to stay!
 

Ned should probably try and find a coach that hasn't coached in at least 5+ years. Preferably attends church with the super. What a minute never mind. Good luck Ned hope y'alls new coach is half as good as Neuman. The guy was a hell of a coach.

No need to be sorry,we done ok with all our really mediocre kids.  WOS always has great football talent & Dan Hooks was great  with a great system & program for many years. Hopefully NISD follows what wos did with replacing hooks when he retired with long time wos asst. Coach Thompson & go with Coach Barrow so we can at least stay at the top of our mediocre talent ceiling.

Not to be the REALLY bad guy, but, as an outsider, I don't know that this is as attractive a job as insiders think. Tons of pressure and a big shadow with a really mediocre talent ceiling. Sorry...
 

Spell has a grandson that plays linebacker and will be a senior next year,not a rocket scientist but to me I'd bet he has at least one more season in him..JMO

Stat, you have offended no one from Nederland with this truth.  These are the facts, this is the direction I hope we move in as well... for all the reasons you perfectly laid out.

There is a lot of bad information here and poor speculation.  Glad to hear Crommet is not retiring.  Spell is not in his 70's and is coaching this year from the last I heard.
