Lets let every team make the playoffs it teaches the kids a great life lesson they can be below average and still be winners. Skip the hard work thing where all in. I also think it should apply to school work everybody gets an a.
I get your point, but who says they are not working hard?  The average Larrys and Joes just aren't as big or fast, and they will go home when they meet a better team.
Should a car salesman who 'works hard' and sells 2 cars a week get rewarded the same as a car salesman who 'works hard' and sells 9 cars a week?
  3. I think 4 teams is waaay too many. I agree with bronce pride that it teaches kids is okay with being average/below average. A true reflection of our society today, and the reason people want things handed to them instead of earning it (Wall Street protestors). It all started when everyone got the same color ribbon for running a race, and nobody received a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbon when they earned it. If it were up to me, I would be okay with sending 3 teams in a district that has 8 teams but only 2 teams when a district has 6 (or less). GoDogs27 makes a good point about a weak district vs. a strong district. I remember it was frustrating when I was in school when we finished 3rd and did not make the playoffs. Our loss to WOS in the last minute of the game knocked us out. WOS was ranked #1 in the state at the time, and PNG made it to the quarter finals that year. That's more an exception vs. the rule though.

I don't know what refs you saw, but I know they missed some pretty big calls that should have gone for silsbee. Maybe I wasn't paying attention to the ones your talking about but I saw pass interferences called correctly and the right call on the field goal block. You won so why worry about the refs? WOS has a good team, they just lack discipline.
Are you serious?  Silsbee was given a bad call on an intentional grounding (the QB was way outside the pocket).  Other than that, the refs gave several bad calls to WO-S.  The one that was most ridiculous was the tackle out of bounds by a Silsbee player.  I player tackled was slammed near the edge of the track.
The ref told our HC that it was the job of the sideline judge to make that call, and he didn't see it, all the while the ref explaining this DID see it and didn't call it!  Incompetence at it's finest.

The blocked FG attempt was CAUGHT by WO-S in the end zone.  The first ref to rule on it got it right...he signaled a TD. The pass interference was made on a player who had his face toward the passer the whole time and never ran into the receiver.  It was a solid defensive play, and the ref blew it.
The rule on blocked FG's is that it is a dead ball if the blocked field goal advances past the line of scrimmage up until the defending team touches the ball first(after the initial block), then it is considered a live ball and the kicking team can recover and advance the ball. In the case last night, the kick was blocked, the ball advanced past the line of scrimmage, and was caught in the air by a WOS player before a Silsbee player touched the ball. The ball is considered dead. The refs got that one right. Silsbee's ball on the 20.

Example: remember the Leon Lett Thanksgiving snow game against Miami. ;)

Who can forget that play AAW?

Boy,  did I miss this one big time.  I expected NED to be playing 2nd string the whole 2nd half.  Ozen really surprised a lot of folks with this game.  Congrats to Ned on 1st outright DC,
I think Livingston thought the same thing last week. Ozen apparently made some major adjustments after PNG beat them a few weeks ago. Can't believe this team lost to Central earlier in district. They are a much better team now.

In 2011, Nederland has been crowned District Champs in:

    Basketball
    Soccer
    Baseball
    and now Football!!

Not a bad year so far!
You can expect 2012 Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer to seal the deal again. Congrats Nederland on an outright District Championship!
I like your mentality. I hope you're right!

i think everyone needs to look outside of the bubble here...go to other parts of the state and see if they take knees for injuries and what not...and for the png ppl...lcm acts like png was still standing on the field waiting for lcm to get him off to run another play...this shows how ridiculous ppl can be...seriously ppl...whos yall favorite college team???put a 1000 bucks on that they dont take knees lol or nfl team...it has NOTHING to do with not showing respect...the png coaching staff respects everyone they play...i know them personally...and if u hate what they do...sry...go talk about it amongst urselves....peace out ppl...
this is so STUPID!!! to judge ppl like this...this blog should be deleted!!
But this isn't college or pro. It's kids representing their communities. I live in The Woodlands, and all the teams in this area do the same thing. I wasn't at the PNG/LCM game, so I'm not certain about what happened. I think it depends on the situation of the game.

That's not Nederland's style of game, cheermoom...we play defense and field position with the offense taking advantage of those opportunities and controlling the clock...to me, as impressive as two consecutive shutouts is, two games in a row allowing less than 100 yards...that is really amazing when you think about it...Nederland has given up a total of 9 first downs in the last two games
No disrespect meant, I just figured the score would be much higher than 21.  I have seen what Nederland can do.
It WAS a bit higher. Ned actually scored 28!  :)
I agree with the above posts, this Ned team is about their 'D'. Sure they scored 42 last week, but that was the only time all season they scored over 30. Another reason it was not more, IMO, is b/c they played down to the level of their opponent. It happens to the best of teams. No biggie. It's another 'W'. Who's next?
