They've looked good against four 1A teams and a less than average 2A. Now we will see what they're really made of.
?????Less than average against whom????
Not Warren being less than average lol they've looked good in all their games. Didn't they play Buffalo though? In the Grovetom tournament.
Yes, Buffalo. They threw a kid being recruited by some college or other, he lasted 1-2/3 innings. We didn't make the schedule we just play it.

3.
From 20-2A: Justin Twine, Jr., Hemphill; low to mid nineties with his fastball, very consistent Torin Hickman, Sr., Woodville; high eighties to low nineties fastball, very sharp breaking stuff Trent Daniels, Jr., Woodville; low eighties fastball and great breaking stuff Chase Gray, Sr., Warren; high seventies/low eighties fastball, very consistent Dylan Watts, Sr., Warren; low eighties fastball, a little wild, but tough to hit when he's on Not really sure about Corrigan-Camden, Newton, or Kirbyville.
Last years numbers: Chase Gray,  2.73 ERA, 41 innings pitched, 32 BB, 41 SO Dylan Watts,  2.79 ERA, 52.2 innings pitched, 24 BB, 55 SO
4. eagleswoodville#1 you are obviously a Woodville Eagle apalogist. I tend to agree about letting sleeping dog lie, but your take boarders on outrageous. In the last match between Warren and Woodville, Woodville plunked at least 4 Warren batters with NO response from Warren, (verbal or othewise). The ONE Woodville batter that got hit, told the dugout his intentions before coming to bat. He leaned in on a strike to deliberately get hit, then charged the mound. The Woodville dugout, after being told his intentions, stormed the field. How, in anyones mind, this is called leadership, sportsmanship, or letting the assulted team advance is called "gracious" is beyond me.... I know several of the Woodville players, good kids and honestly ashamed of what happened. But, the actions they displayed that game speak volumes against your sugar coating a complete breakdown.
5. Congrats to Byant. But just for fun, lets compare stats from maxPreps. Bryant - All state. BA 0.538 (32nd in TX), SLG 0.827 (40th in TX), OBP 0.632 (24th in TX).  11/12 on stolen bases. Watts from Warren, 2nd team district, BA .525 (38th in TX), SLG. 0.775 (74th in TX ), OBP .636 (23rd in TX) . 15/16 on stolen bases... [Hidden Content] Not to take anthing away from Bryant. Seen him play, great bat, a legit threat at the plate. But awards do not equal wins and there are a LOT of good players out there without the awards, this is just one example.... :)
6. Gives Warren the best pitching staff in the area...period...With Gray, Watts, and Williams...just nasty. Gray - solid, brings the heat. Watts - nastiest curve ball around. (Yes, nastiest. Anytime a rt. handed curve ball can make a lefthanded ALL-STATE batter buckle his knees...Nasty) Williams - Lefty and down right good....  Any one pitcher might be better, but for a series, this team is loaded.
7. Not sure, but rumor is Hardin took a big hit in the pitching department over the summer......
8. Just looking at what stats I can find, this seems to be a Very political district. Numbers don't really seem to matter.
9. Congrats to all the kids. I do wish they would put some district stats with the selections...would be nice to see.
10. Well...there are strikeouts and then there are strikeouts. A three pitch strike out a wasted out, you can only hope the kid picked up something from the pitcher or umpire to help him next at bat. But, any plate apperance that goes into the 5+ pitch range is a productive at bat. The batter gets to see more pitches from the pitcher, increasing both the chance of a pitching mistake and wear on the pitcher. So, if a kid is coming back to the bench after three pitches, first thing I ask the kid is, "what did he throw?". Generally, if the kid has some idea of what pitches took him out, he can be better prepared next time. If he is coming back to the bench after a 6, 8, or 10 pitch at bat....good job stay focused and good things will happen.
11.
what makes you think buna will not win if u look at who they have both played.... jasper beat CH buna beat jasper... silsbee only beat buna 6 to 3 silsbee beat CH by more than that i believe buna will win this series in two
I wish the best for Buna, but common non-district opponents mean next to nothing in baseball...the games are used more to work on things, defense, situational plays, getting some work in for other pitchers. Gonna be a steep hill, if Buna can climb it they will certainly have something to crow about.
12. I thought the UIL deadline to certify Area playoffs was Saturday (5/12)...
13.

20-2A Corrigan-Camden Hemphill Kirbyville Newton Warren Woodville [
This should be an intersting one lol probably Woodville and Warren battling it out. With Hemphill graduating several. But they will still be good and compete, like always.
Should be some good baseball. Gotta give the early edge to Warren, just because the whole team is back for another year, no seniors.
14. You are correct. I forgot who won the first match up.
15. Deweyville....Hardin must loose to Kountze Thursday, then Deweyville must beat Hardin Friday, to result in tie 7-5 records. Then a possible one game playoff.  Good luck.
16. Franklin is good. But not best. Outstanding for a freshman but only rates as better than average for Varsity. Best overall In district is Howell, hands down.
17. Buna lost to Warren and to Hardin. But, has a one game lead on both teams. Buna is in a must win situation. A loss puts them in a three way tie for first, with the two teams whop split the series.                 W    L Buna        8    2 Warren    8    3 Hardin      7    3
18. There is a Jr. in 24-2a with:   Stolen base -20  Caught stealing-3      OBP- .607  SIG- .683  BA-.460          Innings pitched - 36.1 SO -41 BB -16 ERA - 2.31   How does that measure up?? ???
19.
he didnt cut down every one.. lead off guy for buna took 2nd and 3rd
Not on steals...7 innings, 2 unearned runs...and Warren only struck out 2 thats defense..
20. The Warren Kid is Chase Foxworth. Solid catcher. He cut down every attempted steal from Buna last matchup.
21.
A loss is just what Buna needed to motivate them in practice. Now they know they can lose and must bring their best almost every week. Buna will come into this game mad looking to take the frustration from the Hardin game and lay it all out on Warren. Buna will win this one 9-3
Well, see what you can do with two now....
