  1. Congrats Lady Rebs...for the record, HF is 3A. we stand corrected. the other thing i would like to mention is a thank you to 3A Hamshire Fannett for their hospitality and it was good to see and talk to a former Silsbee grad and now principal at HF Mr. John Burris. Thanks to all the folks at HF Highschool............
  2. when you play vs someone 6-4 you have to play defense. The lady rebels did a great job against her and she still managed 10pt.11reb.and 9blocked shots. But as the lady rebels have proved all year long there is no I in team. They didnt have one player in double figures but they had contributions from everyone, and Evadales post players did a great job of moving her around. The Freshman wasnt a bit afraid to take it to her either. Ganados big problem, getting the ball down the floor. Great defense by the entire Evadale team all night long. It will take another great defensive effort vs Thorndale. They dont have anyone near 6-4 but they have a couple of outstanding players. They will put the Youngblood twins on the floor and Evadale will counter with the Gregory twins. It should be one big nitemare for Refs and coaches trying to keep the fouls straight. :D :D :D :D
  3. i understand, just trying to give the little schools some board time. I really believe larger schools would benefit a lot by playing some of our smaller area schools because the small schools really put some effort into trying to beat the bigger schools. So it would be a win-win situation. The small school has to play very very hard to win and the larger school gets a juiced up opponent with a lot of aggression. Granted sometimes the little school just cant compete because of sheer numbers, but I think we all pretty much know who those smaller schools are that can put a quality team out there. Going up one class to play isnt to bad but when you start jumping up 2 classes you better be pretty good to compete. Evadales game with HF for a warm-up was just the right game because now Evadale will play Thorndale and from what I have seen Thorndale is a mirror of Hamshire Fannett. Really would have liked to seen all our schools advance but know its not possible but Evadale is big supporter of any area team to make it to the regionals. We just like the whole area basketball program. Just wish there was more publicity for the girls.
  4. woodville, kountze or evadale huh............be careful what you wish for.............
  5. in districts where there are no teams its just the luck of the draw as to who gets the bye. Just so happens there was no district 23 so HF gets the bye. Gotta play everybody eventually anyway. personnaly for me there are too many in playoffs now. With 4 teams in 4 and 5A now eligible might as well let everyone in at the end of the year and just have a district tournament to start playoffs. It may have something to do with money ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  6. Evadale will play Thorndale Tuesday at 7pm at Magnolia Thorndale will be very tough. They played in semi finals last year and lost to Sudan. They beat Iola in their first round game 50-34 after getting a bye as District champion this year. Make no mistakes about this one. The lady rebels will have to play great to get this one.....once again no misconceptions about this team they are very good........
  7. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D if the shoe fits........................................................
  8. once again its why we play the game. we can talk on this board all we want about who will play who, but you have to play the game. Little old evadale never gets to much respect and many didnt think they would do much after taking some lumps from Kountze in the warm up, but they live to play another day after beating Ganado 47-29 last night in Franklin. As I wrote after the Kountze game, evadale had no misconceptions about how good Kountze is and they were looking to get certain things out of that game and it worked pretty well for both. Congratulations Lady Rebels on being just one of a few who have survived in the tournament. They may not get much ink but sometimes its better to fly under the radar. Not all great basketball is played on the higher levels. They have done their talking on the floor all year and would be the first to say they have to work even harder and play better to try and win the next one and nothing is for certain. Congrats to all this yr. and hope Kountze,Woodville and Evadale can continue....................... Woodville vs Newton, Kountze vs New Waverly, Evadale vs Thorndale
  9. It is Ganado........... They played in District 28A with Flatonia,Shiner,Louise, and Katy Nelms. They were 18-8 and finished 2nd in their district. They dropped down from 2A this year. Players to watch 5-7 sr. Megan Diaz, 5-10 jr. Lila Stanley, and 6-4 jr. Allison Peters.
  10. #11 is Kayla Hargraves, she is by far the best Ive seen this year. The lady rebs hung tough for one quarter but you could see it coming. When Kountze gathered themselves and Hargraves and Deaver went to work in the 2nd quarter they just put it out of reach. Hats off to the lady rebs they continued to play hard and this game will pay dividends. Coach DeCello has done a great job with the lady lions and they should go a long way. I guess the only thing you could hope for is to get them in foul trouble because they dont seem to be very deep on the bench. Good luck lady lions hope we can visit in Austin. And good luck lady rebs. You are not afraid of anyone and you will do just fine.Congrats coach Hollyfield let the games begin....................................................................................
  11. A lot closer than I thought it would be. Congrats Kountze. It was 19-15 Kountze after 1 then they outscored Evadale 18-3 in the second. It was 54-27 at the end of three. Then Evadale made a pretty good come back however it wasnt with Hargraves and Deaver on the floor. Kountze is very good but the Lady Rebels played very good in spots and made Kountze play hard. It was a good game for both teams and they should both make noise in their respective classes. Congrats coach DeCello of Kountze and coach Hollyfield of Evadale and good luck to all the players on both teams.
  12. Kountze 59 Evadale 46 Good luck to both teams.
  13. yep, but you get very little out of beating a team three times in such a short period of time. Now if WOS would have made the playoffs it would have been a good warm up game to see which team has improved the most, However Evadale is getting what they want by playing Hamshire Fannett (3pt.loss at HF) and Kountze tonight at 4pm in Evadale. This should prepare them plenty for tournament game vs Ganado. Evadale plays any and all just check their schedule for the last 12 years.
  14. already had beaten them twice...................................................................what next play until you lose one. ;D ;D
  15. no misconceptions here. Kountze is very good, very good, but Evadale was 8-31 at the free throw line vs HF so played very good floor game. This will be a good test for the 1A school and prepare them for anything 1A can throw at them in the playoffs. Evadale has never been afraid to play anyone and will play their usual tough, aggressive defense and let the chips fall where they may. I can guarantee one thing it will be loud and playoff atmosphere, good for both teams. You have to respect all playoff teams at this time of year and these two teams respect each others programs no matter what class. They are both winning traditions.

  17. I go with the Evadale coach on this one. Nobody knows his team better than the coach. He sees them day in and day out and knows their capabilities. This game was at the free throw line all the way......................... >
  18. dont get me wrong but I love the big gym, but we have played so many games in the old gym in the past 3 years that I have come to love the noise level. ;D ;D ;D It is a tough place to play for opposing teams and this years rebels are much improved from last year and coach Wilkins has molded a good group that really plays the D. No surprise to me if Evadale wins this game.
  19. Hopefully a tough warm up will help. But these kids have been battle tested. Beat Hardin,Starks Warren, Wos (2) and lost to E.Chambers by 2. So dont know who the warm up game will be but it will be a good test. Congrats to Orangefield. The season is about to begin........................ ;D
  20. Evadale 62 W.Hardin 24 Evadale 22-3 8-0 WHardin 4-4
  21. Truth of the matter niether team had all their front line players available but thats why its a team game, you play with the cards that are dealt to you. Spurger was a step quicker all night and losing the big guy for Evadale didnt help them on the boards. A good game to watch, it had its ups and downs. Hope Evadales big man recovers from the broken nose. Want to find homers...............go play at Homer Island....... sorry misspelled, I meant High Island :D :D :D :D
