IMO, ND should never be eligible for the playoff until they start playing in a major conference. You shouldn't be able to "hand pick" your entire 12 game schedule and be eligible for National Championship.   This playoff system should have been 8 total teams to begin with. The five conference champions (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC) then 3 at-large teams.   The three at-large teams would come from the SEC West. ;) :D
