  1. His ticket to the next level is football, not basketball. He may be a super basketball player, but football is his real game.
  2. Head basketball coach Kenny Hoffpauir
  3. Back then, SETXsports did a Friday Night Scoreboard show. Started around 10:30pm and lasted till 1am. That night, we did get some scores out but the vast majority of the talk that night was this tragedy. It was surreal. Also, I got the privilege of broadcasting the first WO-S game after this tragedy. It was a home game vs. Kirbyville. What I remembered the most about that game was when the Mustangs were on offense first, the players all kneeled and held up the numbers 1 and 2 with their fingers, then intentionally took a delay of game penalty to remember their fallen teammate. Kirbyville head coach Jack Alverez declined the penalty. Great class on both sides.
  4. I believe Jeffcoat has been to as many playoffs or more than Mitchell has. Also more than Rideaux. Just what is your definition of "big"?
  5. Can't believe it has been 10 years. [Hidden Content]
  6. Again, if you are to go by this site (which people should if they are going to post on here) with coach or player rankings, then one should consider all the coaches and players for the teams that we cover. Just a few off the top of my head that should be considered: Foster of Big Sandy Barrett of Huffman Davis of Hardin-Jefferson Martinez of Atascocita Coleman of Summer Creek Eagans of Crosby Pennington of Barbers Hill Just to name a few.
  7. It really gets to be pretty aggravating. Put all the work in to get all this info out for all to see and use yet still have to hold people's hand.
  8. Beaumont United at Channelview, Friday 7pm
  9. 6A and 5A can start scrimmaging this week. Please post any confirmed scrimmages here. We have some posted in our weekly schedule but not sure if they are actually happening. Please post confirmation. Here are the scrimmages we know of: Thursday, September 17, 2020 6A/5A Scrimmages 7:00 pm - Port Neches-Groves at Beaumont West Brook, Beaumont ISD Memorial Stadium, Beaumont 5A Scrimmages 6:30 pm - Port Arthur Memorial at Nederland, Bulldog Stadium, Nederland 7:00 pm - Jacksonville vs. Cleveland, Abe Martin Stadium, Lufkin 7:00 pm - Porter at Conroe Grand Oaks, Buddy Moorhead Stadium, Conroe TBA - Crosby at Tomball, Tomball ISD Stadium, Tomball
  10. Like I said, DCTF has several teams with wrong records. Jasper has played 1 game yet is 3-0 somehow. Newton has played 1 game but is 0-2 somehow. Silsbee has played 1 game but is 1-1 according to those rankings. Matt Stepp has corrected his records reflecting the "no contest" between Jasper and Silsbee. He said getting the tech guys posting the rankings to change sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. Again, I think the current rankings for this week are pretty spot on (except the inaccurate records)
  11. If Silsbee can be successful throwing the ball, I can see a closer game. Otherwise, PG by 17+.
  12. Silsbee will be the designated visitor team for this game.
  13. Many, many left off as far as this site is concerned. Is why I will never do a player ranking on here. I have been asked many times to do one.
  14. Post any cancellations or game changes for this week here in this thread. It is very likely that the Splendora at Hamshire-Fannett game will be canceled. Major outbreak of COVID cases at Hamshire-Fannett high school. School has been shut down. Also, Silsbee ISD has reported a COVID positive student at the high school. No official word on school closure or game cancellation just yet.
  15. Gilder likely back next week. Arline week after. Silsbee has 4 starters out. Arline, Gilder, Hatton and Buse. Three of those (Arline, Gilder and Hatton) are two way starters. Buse should be back next week but Hatton likely not back till playoffs.
  16. I think Silsbee's defense will do fine. It's the Tiger O that will have problems. Silsbee O-line will have their work cut out for them Friday night.
  17. They have several teams in the rankings with the wrong records. Have Jasper 3-0 (only have played one official game), have Newton 0-2 (only have played one game) and of course Silsbee at 1-1 (only have played one official game). Other than the records being inaccurate, I think the rankings are pretty spot on.
  18. Well, since you brought Silsbee into the convo and you like bringing up the histories of teams, here some info: Silsbee leads all time series with LC-M 17-10 Silsbee won 4 of the last 6 games vs. LC-M since 2012
  19. [Hidden Content] Coverage area teams in the rankings: 6A #1 North Shore #10 Atascocita 5A DII #5 College Station #9 Barbers Hill #10 Crosby 4A DII #3 West Orange-Stark #6 Jasper #9 Silsbee 3A DII #5 Newton 2A DI #5 San Augustine #9 Joaquin 1A DII #2 Calvert
  20. All depends on what you consider SETX. If it is what this site goes by (every team in all the districts that we cover) then your list will be leaving out several deserving players. Players like the following: Kaleb Stewart Atascocita Javon Jackson Summer Creek LaVar Johnson CE King Reyce Allen Summer Creek Tom Hart Atascocita Christian Ashby Atascocita Cameron Morris Atascocita Jacob Harvey Huffman Justin Collins Atascocita Jakori Marshall North Shore PJ Haggerty Crosby Amaree Abram Summer Creek Sam Bradford Goose Creek Memorial Sean Elkington Crosby Karter Dutton Summer Creek Jaylen Johnson Summer Creek Conner Miller Summer Creek Joey Hubbard New Caney Demi Areola Kingwood Angel Johnson Atascocita Avant Coleman Goose Creek Memorial Clovis McCain Texas City Marquis Neal Channelview Just to name a few.

West Hardin/Hull-Daisetta 23. West Sabine/Burkeville 24. Diboll/Livingston 25. Hearne/Hardin
  23. Correct on the potential 2 completions. Don't count. Coach Smith is going to run the ball till a team stops him and he is not going to start passing the ball when up by 4+ TD's. I expect the passing game to get better as the season progresses just like it has since Smith took over as head coach. Silsbee will have to get better at passing the ball to advance deep into the playoffs.
  24. Only 7 total attempts between the two QB's the entire game. (rushing for 390 yards kind of keeps the passing attempts down) Foster did have two completions for about a total of 25 yards that were negated by penalties. He could have gone 4-7 for 36 yards.
  25. Here are my week 4 rankings: 6A/5A 1. North Shore 2. Atascocita 3. College Station 4. Lufkin 5. Friendswood 6. West Brook 7. Barbers Hill 8. Crosby 9. PN-G 10. United 4A/3A 1. Carthage 2. WO-S 3. Jasper 4. East Chambers 5. Silsbee 6. Vidor 7. Huffman 8. Coldspring 9. Newton 10. Liberty 2A/Private 1. San Augustine 2. Joaquin 3. Timpson 4. Oakwood 5. Cushing 6. Tenaha 7. West Sabine 8. Calvert 9. Evadale 10. Deweyville
