  1. My youngest H.S. son Ezra"Ez" Berry pitched his 1st Varsity game as a Soph. for Ozen and did well. Lumberton's pitcher was a Beast on the mound! He will have a chance to hopefully play in the MLB some day like Clay. Very good arm on my opinion.
  2. It was our Baseball team, they played Liberty tonight.
  3. Ozen Lady Panthers have 3 Freshmen on Varsity. In 2 years they will have a 6'4 Sr., 6'2 Jr., 6'1 Sr., 6'0 Jr. and a 5'8 Jr. guard that all play Varsity for the Panthers. Not to mention their supporting cast. Ozen reloads while other programs have to build or rebuild. JMO
  4. Orangefield - 8 Ozen - 4 Early season for both teams but saw some good things and things that will improve as the season goes. Good luck to each on their season.
  5. I don't know if the request to stay in 5a was the best interest for the kids. Maybe for saving travel time and money because of distance but competition wise they will be out manned in football especially because of depth and physicallity. Winning programs help the schools environment overall.
  6. Yes it is. WB strong athletic history came from a winning Hebert H.S. program with majority of the best athletes coming from the Pear Orchard.
  7. Fact is the kid is dealing with some other issues and not handling it well. He still has to be made accountable for his actions and learn to deal with frustration are he will be back home soon. I've witness one of mine handle things wrong out of frustration coming off the field but we handled it so that it wouldn't happen again. Coaches should discipline players but parents should support the coaches and really be the one who corrects the behavior. After all coaches have them for a few seasons but they are ours for a lifetime.
  8. My opinion is that Ozen's players really don't believe Nederland is that big of a challenge when they play them. The coaches respect them more but the players don't always bring their A game when playing them so this allows the game to be closer than probably should be. JMO
  9. Okay, both the Lady Jags and Lady Panthers are playing good basketball. Who do you feel will take this 1st district rivalry game and why?
  10. Ozen has 6'4 Travon Gipson who was not present during the Central game. Hopefully the chemistry continues and overall Ozen should be fine.
  11. Poor free throw shooting for Ozen and also poor team play especially the last 3 mins. it was all 1 on 1 who can do their own thing. Ozen will have to be able to run an effective play to get a key shot in tough games and not play ground play without execution. Central's Attwood carried his team as the rest of the Jags contributed with whatever else was needed. I do believe the Jags struggled with the pressure but Ozen did not capitalize on their mistakes. All and all Jags will always be competitive and so will Ozen. Congrats Jags!
  12. If Kountze beat them then you know Ozen and Central will beat them down. Lol
  13. It's cool If the school has $100,000 to send him to college If he tares a knee or ankle up. Otherwise he has to be comfortable in playing. Can't be mad either way because it's his future we're talking about. IJS
  14. P.A. must have brought their own Trophy with their name on it this game. I must admit I thought Nederland W Flag would be this years champions but hats off to those Chiefs they were pretty good! Best of Luck Next Year to All!
  15. Soulja I mentioned Boyd and Comeaux and you acted like you did not know who Comeaux was and Boyd is definitely a dominant player on the hard wood! The rest remains to be seen as to who is the best but I do know that they will be tough to handle and I also mentioned those others especially Soph. D. Jones who led Ozen in scoring against Memorial. Ozen is deeper and has more quality depth this year!
  16. Not sure how many but it only takes 1 to get a free ride! Some professional ball players acquired only 1 offer and made the best of it and essentially that is the key, making the best out of what you have! Let's Go & Get that Paper!
  17. Congrats JB we are so proud of you son and your accomplishments after facing so much adversity throughout the years! You will have nay' sayers and those who believe in you but most of all always believe in yourself! One of the best athletes I've ever had the pleasure to see and coach whether it was baseball, football or basketball when you showed up, you were one of the best on the court or field! Use this blessing to get that degree and secure your future, it's worth it!
  18. We will all wait and see but I can say this after J. Boyd was benched the 1st qtr. against Central this football season all hopes for playoffs left most Panther fans. Hopefully no teams suffer any losses due to injury and/or grades that will hinder their playoff runs. Good luck Titans, Jags, Bruins and Panthers on your season!
  19. You had a miss spell, it's Ozen not omen. lol, Everyone knows that basketball rules at our school and that a program was put in place with Boutte and carried through for the most part. Trey Gipson is out with a groin injury and should bolster their front court. The Panthers should be fine.
  20. Wow 1st football "W" and now a basketball "W" for Ozen against the Mighty Titans! Man what is the world coming too with a school beating a whole city? Lol, Had to mess with you a bit BG.
  21. I guess you didn't know that basketball was my 1st love and I was pretty good at it. So sticking to basketball, football and baseball is what I'll do. Do you even know who John Comeaux is? Boyd is one of the best in the state and skill set is higher than Central's top players. Tyler, Sneed and Jones can knock down the 3 and also handle the ball well. It will be interesting but I don't see either team winning all 3.AboutCalendarPolicyTILFLeaguerMediaNFHS NetworkContactShop OnlineSports Officials HOMEACADEMICSATHLETICSMUSICMORESearch the UIL Athletics HomeHigh School Sports Junior High Sports WaiversAlignmentsHealth & Safety District ChairsFormsManualsArchivesScoreboardUIL Home Athletics High School Sports Basketball Boys Archives 2014-2015 5A Boys Basketball All-Tournament Team2014-2015 5A Boys Basketball All-Tournament Team(As selected by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) Deon Barrett - Lancaster - Junior - 5'10" - GuardJohn Comeaux - Beaumont Ozen - Junior - 5'10" - GuardAntwon Portley - Lancaster - Senior - 6'3" - Guard*Elijah Thomas - Lancaster - Senior - 6'9" - Forward/CenterWayne Wyngarde - Beaumont Ozen - Senior - 6'6" - Center* Denotes Championship Game MVP
  22. Central normally has good players and Ozen usually has a good program with good players. Central normally has bigs and Ozen usually has guards. Guard play usually dictates the tempo and Ozen has big men Parrish and Gibson who can stick the outside shot and bring the big men out of the paint along with abundance of guards who can bring pressure and outside shooting. Boyd and Comeaux will equal Pearson and Atwood so I say Ozen proves who is the basketball power in BMT with the emergence of Soph. Jones, Soph. Sneed and Jr. Tyler. Broussard. Now i have been wrong a time or two but this is my opinion! Good luck to both teams, BMT represent!
