  1. At 6'4 he must have been around 250 to play power forward.  A charles barkley type.  Didnt say it wasnt possible, just said it is not likely for him to play anything other than a 1 or 2.
  2. But Diboll has the upper hand because the beat Jasper at Jasper, right?
  3. The question I would ask is, how many phone calls is he getting from these schools and how many at home visits?  If he is just getting letters in the mail, they mean very little.  .8 percent of all HS basketball players will play college ball at the JC, D3,D2, or D1 level.  I saw a video clip the other day on a recruiting topic and it said that for you to have a chance at a scholarship you will be getting at least 50 letters from different colleges.  I have never seen the young man play,  but if he is 6'3 or 6'4 he better be a PG or a 2 Guard that can shoot lights out.
  4. CATMAN, I know you were joking but there is a big difference in yelling and cursing.  In a game most times coaches have to yell, because of the atmosphere.
  5. Couldnt have said it better whsalum.  No one is perfect and people all DO and SAY things they wish they hadnt but for a coach to constantly curse players to motivate is untrue.  I have been in a college lockeroom many time when I played, and there were curse words at times, but it was not one Fbomb after another.  I think it was Roosevelt that said it best, speak softly and carry a big stick.  If a coach starts cursing at players, they are going to pay more attention to the curse words then the point the coach is trying to get across.
  6. Exactly as speechless said and wshalum.  It is a tribute to the job Coach English has done.  The playoffs are about matchups and if you are peaking at the right time, if you are hot or not.  Sometimes, or maybe most times the best team does not get to the State Tournament.  You have to be good and lucky. Lucky with a capitol L.
  7. Coaches do not need to use profanity and should not use profanity in coaching.  That being said, I have been around alot of good coaches and have been coached by alot of good coaches and they are humans like all and profanity does slip from time to time.  But every other word that comes out of their mouths should not be a curse word.  Emotions are high in practice and games and that is when profanity shows most often, is that an excuse, of course not, but i would say that if we polled most coaches would say that during their career that they have said a curse word.  If we polled most humans I bet they would also say the same thing.
  8. I dont even know anyone from Woodville.  You started the argument a long time ago with Woodville is going to win district and how far they would go in the playoffs.  They will be lucky to get in the playoffs.  Sorry, that is the reality you are stuck with this year.  Dominate?  You beat them 10 at your place.  I picked CC to win or that it would be a good game.  It was a good game if you only won by 10.  I just erred on the side of CC winning.  If you wouldnt have started all the negative talk about CH I could care less about Woodville.  Who is in first in district? Who is 2nd?  Who is tied for 3rd?
  9. Yall didnt beat them that bad.  Yall need to worry about making the playoffs.
  10. Congrats to Center and prayers for their player who is sick.
  11. Im still sorry for your player.  Hope that he gets a full recovery. Prays for him and his family. Congrats on another good win.
  12. It will be a good game.  We will see in a few hours.  By your reasoning that yall beat them the first time then  you will beat them this time means, yall lose to Woden and SA again in the second half and scrap past Hemphill.  If SA will pick it up a little they will get the 3rd spot and Woodville will be playing baseball.
  13. jabu84, be honest, I bet you thought twice before ejecting a coach again too?
  14. Corrigan Camdem will win.  Woodville want be able to handle the 1/3/1.  It will take their guards out of the game, combine that with SA beat Woodville and CC beat SA and CC took Woden to OT.  They will struggle to come out with a win.
  15. A 35 second shot clock is the last thing you want to do in HS.  Talk about thr game becoming more physical and the coaches could not use as much strategy.  The last thing HS ball needs is a shot clock.  The teams that try to control tempo and get a good shot, (do you realize that there is a direct correlation between ball reversals and percentage to score) because the more you reverse the ball the more the defense breaks down and the more fatigued they become.  Plus how many people can run a score clock, add a shot clock person to that, one for each end more than likely.  I just dont see it coming.  Teams would sit in a zone and then the last 7-10 seconds really play hard of the possession, so you are taking away from the defense and offense.
  16. The officials do have to go to Austin if it gets that far, but they know it usually want.  And an official can not lose his job over it as a coach can.  It is automatic dismissal at some school districts if you get ejected.  SO there goes there money for them and there family and the things they need.  There may be some accountability but there is not much.
  17. Smart move IMO.  That has always been one of my defensive philosophies I picked up from Bill Krueger.  He was the master at changing defenses.  There are not too many teams that do.
  18. That puts the district as follows if im correct: Center 6-1 Hudson 6-1 Diboll 4-3 Jasper 4-3 Huntington 4-3 Central 1-6 Kirbyville 0-7
