1. He may have, that is something we will never know.  But we do know that his way did work?  I am a strong Christian person and I do not believe in using curse words, but the only perfect person to have lived was Jesus Christ.  I think we have all said curse words, and coaches are more susceptiable because their profession is one where emotions are high all the time.  That was his process, and it worked for him.  So to say it dosent work is incorrect because it did work.  I dont know if he would have been as successful, because that was not him.  He is who he was, and he got the best out of his yound men, alot of times young men that people said were very average.  Im not saying he never had good players, that is absurd, but he did more with little than most coaches do.  And he has the highest graduation rate of any college coach Im pretty sure.
2. If offficials call the rules of the game by what the UIL rule book says then it is not their fault that pace of the game is.  It is the players fault and the coaches fault for teaching them to play beyond the rules.  I would think the reason an official is there is to keep the rules in force, not to make sure that the pace of the game is good for everyone in the stands.
3. I dont agree that cursing should be used in a constant manner.  But any human that has ever lived cannot say they have not said a curse word at some point in time.  Bob Knight would probably argue that he made a lot of young boys into men, with his style (arguably one of the top 3 coaches of all time if not higher).  And I am sure he used a few curse words.  When emotions are high, the chance for a curse word becomes more likely.  Just as the example with someone hitting themselves with a hammer and something slips out, when in practice and motivating, composure is a hard thing to keep when you are trying to squeeze the turnip to get all you have out of them.  In a perfect world, would no curse words be used, yes, but we all know this is not a perfect word and curse words do come out.  Even the best of men.
4. Actually TrueBlue I see more of the opposite.  You will usually see the teams that are more athletic (bigger/faster) allowed to get away with more IMO.  Occasionally I see an official who will call more on the bigger player under the basket, but it is rare.
5. Why did SA make a pass close enough to their basket for the possibility of Woden stealing it and scoring?  I know you can go over and over a game, but I think with .9 seconds left I would pass it away from their basket and towards mine.  Some will say you dont want to pass it down and no one touch it and then Woden have an inbounds play, but you could at least pass it toward the 3point line or half court area to ensure that there was no possible way Woden receives the ball and puts it in for a score.  What a terrible way to end the game?  Just stratigcally thinking. But great for Woden. Hard to pull a win out at SA.  Puts them in a good spot to get the 2nd spot in district if they can beat Woodville at Woodville.  Will determine who plays who in the playoffs.  Big game this Friday, if there are any game, looks like we are going to have snow on the ground?
6. There are always two sides to every story.  Trust me on this one.  Personally and socially.  I can understand both sides.  I was not there and did not see the charge/block?  I am just giving the opinions of some CH fans and how they saw the play.  They saw it as a charge. I dont know.  Either way, there should be an accountability system for the officials and the game cant be played over, so it is best to just go on and get ready for the next game.
7. Since you mentioned I heard that Sells made a huge mental error and picked up that charge with 4 minutes to go.  PG has got to be smarted than that.  He has got tot know you need him in there for ballhandling and protecting the lead than trying to score which I am guessing is when he picked up his 5th was on the way to the basket.  If they had the lead, just pull it out and be smart.  If you have the lead, you have them where YOU want them and can dictate what they do.  Evidentally Woodville didnt do that to close the game out.  That should put CH by themselves in 1st, and Woden in 2nd with Woodville because Woden has the win over them but they have the same amount of losses.
8. Your absolutley right, if a coach is acting like that then you have to give him a technical. I just know I have heard on other websites of a fan behind the coach saying something and the official through the coach out and he didnt say anything, it was the fan.  Another example, I could literally give examples all day, but Head Coach of basketball program is sitting on the end of bench of Freshman game to watch and help his Freshman coach, says one thing to official the entire game.  He ask the official to watch # player when he catches to shoot that he is travelling.  Official says ok.  Game is tied, 4th quarter, kid catches walks and makes a 3, no call, coach dosent raise voice but asks, was that not a travel?  Tech!  He said I can only speak to the head coach and since you are not head coach I do not have to listen to anything you say.  Coach gets a little mad then and says, I am not the head coach of the Freshman team but I am the Head coach of this program. Bam. Tech!  Now he has to go to UIL and Austin, and in some districts he would be fired.  We all know what just happened in the example is absolutely absurd, but it happens all the time, because 1. SOME officials have a POWER issue, and 2.  There is no accountability system for the officials, but there are all kinds of accountability systems for coaches.
9. While there definetly needs to be an accountability system for basketball officials, from the information I gathered on last nights game, both teams shot an equal 19 FT's.  That is about as even as you can get.  I heard some more interesting facts about the game that would refute some previous comments as well but for sake of argument I will just leave them out.  I would think both teams shooting 19 FT's and the game on Woodvilles homecourt would speak volumes.  If we are not going to accept excuses when these two teams play at one place lets do the same at the other.  That is in all fairness.
10. They need an accountability system. I wish they would implement one.  I didnt see the game, I dont know how the calls went, for CH or for Woodville or just plain bad.  But, there is nothing anyone can do about it.  They have all the power and basically own the game.  Until something is done, we will continue to get games that are called bad. I could tell you horror stories from other websites, where officials blantantly kicked the coach out of the game.  The coach can hardly have a discussion with the official and he gets ejected.  Not even a discussion.  The coach and officials should have a working dialouge.
11. Mike1437, I didnt say Coach Williams was not a good coach.  He may have not had the opportunity to come into a place that does not have talent and have to build it up.  But, if given the chance then he may could.  I dont know him, my comment was not directed at him.  Some coaches are lucking or blessed and are able to coach at a school with alot of talent, but you are correct it does take a good coach to sustain the success. IMO, the coach that builds a program up is what makes a great coach.  It is a blanket statement, not mentioning any coaches.  Please read the thread, digest it, and then make a comment without trying to come at someone.  For all I know he is as good as any.  I just know one of the hardest things a coach can do is come into a program that has not had success, build it up and sustain that success. To me that makes a coach great.
12. Coach Hand was the best I have ever saw in my life for motivating players.  He could have players want to run through a brick wall to please him.  They wanted his affection.  And he is a good Baptist like me too so there was no curse words.  lol  Seriously, Hand could motivate without cursing better than I have ever witnessed, period.
13. Nash, I sat right beside him and he couldnt coach for all the hail mary's he was having to say.
14. No look, are you for sure on the Hudson/Kirbyville game?  Isnt Kirbyville due a win too. lol   All kidding aside, the Jasper vs. Central should be a good game.
15. Man chill out.  I was referring to the single sentence that I would not use bold.  Not that I would not every use bold type again.  Sorry if I offended you or anyone on the board, I am not on here to make enemies, clearly just to state my opinion on topics, sometimes Im right and sometimes Im wrong.  If I get to joke around with someone for awhile then it is even better. The smite thing is a complete joke, if you knew me at all you would understand that it is in humor and I thought you would take it that way or I would not have said it.
16. The smiting part is a joke.  Im sorry you dont understand that.  What does the karma of anyone on the board mean?  It dosent mean anything.  Sorry I touched a nerve or said something out of place.  I definetly know that I do not know everything and can admit when I am wrong.  You undoubtely believe I was being negative with the smite, so I apologize.  Good luck the rest of the way.
17.
Coaches aren't getting the respect they deserve nowadays!! A child does NOT have the "right" to deserve respect from an adult/coach. This is the problem with our society! Kids have this air of expectancy...they expect to be respected without giving respect themselves. Kids expect to be able to break rules and not having consequences. There has always been a chain of authority and on a team the coach is at the top and the kid is on the bottom and the parent is even below THAT!!! If little Johnny is going to disrepect and talk back to a coach, I feel he shouldn't even waste his breath (cussing or coddling) and go ahead and kick the kid off the team. They do reserve that right to do so.  Coaches need to remember that THEY RUN THE PROGRAM not the kids and their parents!!!!!!!!! PLEASE......remember this coaches!!!!!!!! Respect FROM a coach will come AFTER the kid respects the coach him/herself first!!!
You are correct in alot of what you have said about society.  It has taken a turn for the worse.  Coaches do not get the respect they deserve even if they earn it.  It is always the coaches fault if you get beat, and the players carried the coach if they won.  Most parents do have blinders.  With that being said, I still dont see cursing a kid as a way to help him.  I really feel sorry for the kids of today when they grow up and have to meet the real world.  They have been coddled for so long and been taught that there are no consequences that it has really set them up to fail.
18. jdog, from what i hear, the Gestapo can not help but follow their leader (no look).  He will even plead for them to not engage but they go by his creed  and cannot take a night off.  lol Seriously, I didnt know what the Gestapo joke was until no look and nash told me one day.  On going joke, that has become famous or in some cases infamous. lol
19. Thanks for the compliment.  I will digress and say that I dont know it ALL.  I appreciate that.
20. EaglesWoodville, I am sorry if I have posted anything negative toward you.  I will refrain from posting anything negative concerning you.  Im in a 12 step recovery program at the current time trying to become more positive and not take my anger out on others.  Frooosh Grabbbaa  Frooosh  Grabbba
21. Meadowlark, I pointed out the fact that yall were in 3rd place not Jasper so every comment I make is not negative.  And the smiting thing is a joke.
22. Meadowlark, I didnt mean to hit a nerve.  I didnt know that I was so negative about your posts, on most posts on here I am positive, search my posts, most all are positive.  The smiting thing is a joke I guess you havent gotten yet.  It is a JOKE.  Im kidding with you.   I have only commented twice on any post you have ever posted. And Im not going to use bold letters, but why are you so defensive and why after everything has been let go do you feel the need to come back on and start something, that to me is negative. And if you will look at the 18-3A post, I pointed out the fact that Diboll was in 3rd place not Jasper, I would think that would be positive.  The only negative things I have said on this website have been either defending, Woden, CH, or Huntington.
23. Or you could go with what Bobby Knight said when asked why he used the F word so much, he said "it is the most descriptive word in the English Language."  lol
24. My point was you do not see many players in D1 that are 6'4 or below that play anything other than the 1 or 2 position, I know the SCL is D1 (I was heavily recruited by Northeastern LA.)  That was what I was bringing up.  You dont see many 3's or 4's that are 6'4 in D1.
