Yes they can bring it from both sides and in my opinion may have the best one, two combination around with Franklin and Marshall, but they are young and will have to be in the proving mode every game. In addition our catching will have to continue to improve. our kids are hitting the Baseball so I think we will continue to get offensively better. I know people don't realize it but we only have three to four seniors in starting positions, one junior and four to five sophomores...depends on who is on the bump. Our pitching staff consist of four sophomores and two seniors and the seniors are really in a support roll. Just want to see our guys continue to improve and be hanging around at the end of the tournament...Anything else will be gravy!
So you're stating that the early part of te tournament will be "gravy" for Kountze? Even if they get matched up with Huntington, Woodville, or Buna?
read just the last sentence lol....he means "gravy" as in "icing on the cake" dude ;D
Lol yeah I just got that. Thanks for clearing that up. On that note, I agree completely with what he said.

 3.
injury bug has bitten woodville again. will not be at their best but should compete well.
I was actually just speaking with someone about that, ironically enough.
 4.
21-3A's HJ and Buna should take 1st and 2nd in this tourney. IMO
No Huntington or Woodville? Or even Kountze? Woodville made it to the semis last year. Huntington won it. And Kounze is much improved this year. I moreless dont agree with HJ. Buna will be up there. I agree with that completely.

 6.
I think this will be a great game, it has been for the past few years. I am going to have have to go with my Warriors by 3. Eagles fan how is Woodville doing? I have not seen anything posted on them.
I have no idea. My personal schedule has conflicted with their schedule all season so I haven't been able to make my way there yet. But I do plan on going up to the Woodville Tournament this week and see a few games and speak with coach.
 7. Any idea on when the rankings will start?? When will the preseason polls be out??

They've looked good against four 1A teams and a less than average 2A. Now we will see what they're really made of.
?????Less than average against whom????
Not Warren being less than average lol they've looked good in all their games. Didn't they play Buffalo though? In the Grovetom tournament.
Yes, Buffalo. They threw a kid being recruited by some college or other, he lasted 1-2/3 innings. We didn't make the schedule we just play it.
Alot of college programs will recruit on potential more than success and talent. If he's a 6'3" 185lb lefty and is anything above average, he will get some attention. Like Colby Price out of Kountze last year. Tall, skinny lefty. A little above average. Nothing special. But all the potential in the world due to his size and mechanics. And no, you don't make the schedule. Your coach does. And scheduling teams like that will keep you in shape and from getting rusty. But it won't improve your team to compete better in district and more importantly for Warren, the playoffs.
 9.
This is Warrens year. These kids have been preparing for this year since they were 5 yrs old. Buna will be lucky if they are not run ruled. Warren is legit, dont know why they arent playing a tougher schedule.Kids can play on a much higher level than 2A.Coach shouldnt be scared because the kids sure arent.
Don't agree with the first part. I think it'll be a close game. But I do agree with the tougher schedule part. You would think improvement would mean more than success to a program like Warren has been over the past couple years.
Well I was at game and to make a long story short Liberty only had 3 earned runs.liberty short stop and catcher are impressive, top notch!kountze well rounded hits very well.. Just needs that one position filled...soon!
Better fill it really soon. Developing a catcher late in the season is hard to do. And with this district, you can't afford to go into district play without a decent catcher.
 13.
Baseball is a funny game where clubs can look completely different on any given day. That being said experience is the great equalizer in any sport. I look for Warren to take another step forward this year with a returning starter at every position.I watched them several times last year and there was no doubt they were a different club after Perfect got well and back in the line up. They have a very good coach who has started to build a program. I can't wait to watch all the clubs this season, good luck to all the clubs and let's" PLAY BALL"
Completely agree.
 14.
Okay, so how is everyone looking so far?
Should see how Woodville is whenever they lose out of basketball. Missing three starters at the moment. But still 3-0 in scrimmages. First game against Garrison Monday in Woodville.
Yep, about as funny as a 4 game losing streak. ;)
all road games against The Village, St Thomas, St Pius, and Concordia with two of our starters playing injured not to mention they were all close games except the Village where our starting PG didn't even play. All those teams would beat every team ranked ahead Kelly except Kountze for sure. And Pius and The Village  would have good games with Kountze and almost any team in the Big School rankings. Pius already had a good game with Nederland earlier this year, lost by seven. And Village had a great time destroying your Tigers at the Nederland tourney  ;) not to mention Kelly has beat Cleveland, Big Sandy, and beat Woodville in one of the worst games we have played all year. I'm not mad we dropped or anything, I could care less, I just think it's funny that some people even think of the teams above Kelly to even be around Kelly's level. Kelly is WAY better than those tests ahead of them they would run Broaddus out of the country much less the gym. A matter of fact I would put Kelly right between Ozen and Cleveland in the Big School polls. I just don't see how a 4 game ROAD losing streak against really good teams coming off of an 11 game win streak drops you from 2nd to 9th.
Lol so you play a close game with a team that's just as athletic (possibly more athletic) than you and now it's one of your worst games all year? Lol you played in a hostile environment and came out with a win against a very scrappy, athletic team. The fundamentals and shooting is what separates Woodville and Kelly. This ranking is about team performance and wins and losses. Not quality of opponent, for the most part. If you can't compete with the teams in your district, you should move down. I agree that Kelly has played much tougher opponents than most smaller teams in this area. I think we all get that. But four game losing streaks are going to get you moved down. No matter who you play, whether it was a bad game or not, or where it was. Impressive 11-game win streaks can be eliminated in the minds of people by poor play during district competition.
having seen Kelly play almost every game this year that was a terrible game for us. And we are definitely more athletic in my opinion.
The hustle of Woodville forced bad shots and did not allow Kelly to get into a rhythm the entire game. Fundamentals was the difference in that game. Kelly played well the last four minutes of the game. And the use of the word "we" kinda shows an objective bias for Kelly. Which it would be understandable that you would think they're more athletic, being one of their supporters.

I think they are returning 7 starters and will mix in a few JV kids from last year.  No worries though, they will play and beat three of your top 10 before week 1 is over with.
After Week 1 of scrimmages (and I know they are just scrimmages), Hemphill was up on WS 11-1 after 5 when they pulled starters (without basketball players which includes Twine), and I couldn't even tell you what the score was after 4 when they pulled starters vs. Colmesneil..... I know, I know.... basketball players aren't out.  They aren't for Hemphill either.
Woodville beat WS and they play Colmesneil on Friday. Woodville won't get basketball back until they lose out of the playoffs which at the earliest will be next Wednesday if I'm not mistaken. Woodville beat WS @Pineland and beat Shepherd 25-2 in Woodville. They are supposed to scrimmage Huntington at Huntington tonight. Not sure if weather will hold up though. As for the Colmesneil game, the fact of the basketball players not being out yet effects them alot more, being a smaller school. I can think of at least four starters they're missing. 3 of which were all district picks last year. Lol We should start seeing the teams come around in the next week or two.

Big Sandy is clearly the better team..
I'm not sure that clearly is the correct word to use. It's not very clear. Especially with the loss of the Hendrix kid. But that was two spots that could've gone either way. So to that extent, I agree.
Well you have all the returning starters except Mr. Hendrix and the lost of one senior, but Big Sandy lost to Warren by 1 in each game in that double header without Hendrix pitching. Well i guess it all depends if Big Sandy can get those bats going or else it will go either way. I guess will see how things workout during the season.
Exactly my thoughts on the bats. And Hendrix was not only a great pitcher for them but also was a huge stick. He will be a huge loss to recover from. But like I said, could've gone either way.
