Yeah that's what I was thinking. Idk where folks get accurate enrollments from tried using Google last night got 3 different numbers for Cedar Park. It's not on their website

Schools submit them to the UIL every other year, and the UIL uses those to drive realignment. The numbers are on the UIL website.

Pearland QB out for the year before this game. I heard they don't really have a back-up, although may not have mattered.

Pearland's starting QB - A&M commit Connor Blumrick - was injured in their first series of their first game and is out for the season. Their 2nd string QB - Jacob Whitehead - is a 3-year varsity player. He started some last year. But he was injured in Pearland's week 2 game. They started a sophomore QB against Manvel, and he too was injured early in the 2nd quarter. So Whitehead played the rest of the game.

Pearland's top RB from last year has not played yet this year, and they started a sophomore at RB also.

Shaping up to be a very tough year for Pearland.

  3. Anyone know the frosh and JV results from last night?

I heard JV only had one game, and the score was in the Manvel 34 Crosby 14 range. But the person that told me that wasn't too sure about it.

I find it doubtful. After all, all of Manvel's talent had been coming through Nolan Ryan Jr High, which now feeds Shadow Creek HS. So all the talented sophs Manvel would have had are now at SCHS. No way Manvel JV could have beat Crosby JV, let alone by 20 points, without the talent they lost to SCHS.

Anyone know the real results from last night?

Im not looking forward to that (in bold)  lol go back to 6A asap.

School district projections say that Manvel won't make it back to 6A numbers until the 2024 alignment. Shadow Creek High School, the new one in the district, will make it to 6A in 2020, based on current projections.

Manvel was absolutely loaded last year. When King was playing at Aragon middle school with my brother I knew he was going to be special. Langham Creek sure wished he would have stayed.

Herman recently said that King might move to slot receiver for this year due to injuries to others at that position. Says he's still committed to King being a QB, but could move just for this year. Some really positive quotes from Herman about King in this article:

Interesting, 247sports talent index for 2016 has Manvel ranked as the #7 most talented team nationally and #1 in the state of Texas. They have 19 prospects overall and twelve kids rated 3*, 4* or 5*.

Crosby comes in as the #38 most talented team nationally and #5 in the state of Texas, ranking as second most talented 5A in the state this year. 247sports says we have 12 total prospects with six being rated 3*, 4* or 5*.

With eighteen 3*'s and above on the field I think I know where the recruiters in H-town will be on opening night:

The 2016 numbers include the class of '16, so those really represent last year's teams.

The 2017 numbers represent this year's teams. Those numbers have Crosby at #17 nationally with five rated players, and Manvel at #39 with six rated players (huh? how's that math work?)

Nice to see you back on here! :)

Thanks! Kind of a persona non grata on the 6a board since Manvel dropped to 5A.

Need to get SETX to expand its coverage further south and just a bit further west to include Manvel. Gonna be 5A for probably at least four years.

Assuming we go to the division 2 playoffs Manvel should by far be the best and most talented team we could see until we left the region. That being said, don't be surprised if Netherly outplays Manvel's first time starter and Crosby gets the W on the road. I think Manvel is going to need 40+ to win which isn't the easiest thing for a qb to do making your first start against a solid team, rather you're at home or not.

Netherly outplaying Manvel's first-time starter is possible. But won't this also be Netherly's first real start at QB? Other than against Galena Park and Porter, Netherly didn't spend much time at QB last year.

I'll be surprised if either team approaches 40 points. New QBs on both sides. I think 30 will win it, which both teams are capable of depending on who gets bit bigger by first game jitters, turnovers and penalties.

  9. Looking forward to this game! Great to see coaches set up big time match ups in pre-district play.

Manvel lost a lot, and Crosby returns some great players. Crosby's offensive strength - its running game - has been a weak spot for Manvel's D. Manvel has a new DC and a new defensive scheme (3-4). A big NT, a very good DE, and three junior LBs that we're starting by the end of last season are all solid. Front 7 should be very good. Other than Tucker, the defensive backfield is pretty new. So run D may actually be a strength for Manvel this year (don't laugh), and pass D is unproven. Going with Howard at QB and Netherly at WR could be a good move for Crosby, although Howard will likely face quite a bit of heat in the backfield. Could be tough for a sophomore making his first start, but having Netherly and Hill both running routes could be a big advantage for Crosby if the OL can give Howard enough time.

I suspect Manvel will rotate QBs between a senior (Goodman, #17) and a junior (Martin, #12, coach's son). I think one will take control by midway through game 2, but look for a rotation in the first game.

Everyone knows Manvel lost a ton of offensive D1 talent. It's actually just over 1800 lbs if you add them up. But Jalen Preston (Jr., #5) is right up there with the best WRs to come through Manvel yet. And last year's leading WR is back also. Caleb Jolivette at RB has shown he can convert his state track 100m talent into football moves.

Crosby has some very impressive talent, especially at RB and WR. Looking forward to seeing them.

Not sure if the predictions of a big Manvel win by some are people trolling the Crosby fans or not, but I'll be surprised if either team scores over 30 and if it's more than a 10 point game. But then I never expected Manvel to stomp Westfield 35-10 in game 1 two years ago either. I think it will be more like the Manvel / Westfield season opener last year - sub-30 points each, close game, too many penalties and turnovers by both teams.

  10. Very crazy, and the suckometer level of highway 288 traffic is growing at a similarly crazy rate.

Grand Parkway is coming in the future. That will add to it. Right now, I'm within walking distance of the center of nowheresville. 10 miles to a grocery store. The Grand Parkway is supposed to come within a couple of miles of us. Lots of growth coming over the next several years.

SCHS won't be the last new high school in this area.

  11. It's possible that Manvel drops down, but I think it's very unlikely. Very rapid growth in the area. The SCHS area still has some growth, but most of the open land and future rapid growth will be in the Manvel area.

Manvel's realignment number last October was 2573. Actual enrollment this fall according to the school website is 2840. Based on an Alvin ISD demographic / growth study, MHS will probably be in the 3200 range next fall and 3500 in '16 if SCHS were not opening.

SCHS will follow the normal pattern of 9th and 10th only in '16, then adding a grade each year. If they take 600 students in each of those grades, Manvel '16 enrollment would be in the 2300 range. So even with SCHS opening, I think Manvel will stay at or above the 6A cutoff. If they are below it, I wouldn't be surprised if they opt up given the growth projections for '16 and '17.

The next UIL realignment will be based on Oct '15 numbers. With SCHS only being 9th and 10th the next year, they may not even go into a district. Manvel was "independent" its first two years when they had only 2 or 3 grade levels. SCHS may do the same thing.

By Oct '17, when the next realignment numbers are submitted, AISD is projecting to have between 6800 and 7000 high school students across three high schools. That's probably enough to have all three be 6A, depending on where they draw the enrollment lines. They are working on figuring those out now.

So, long way of saying "don't know for sure either way."

  12. PAM will probably go 8-2 and i say the two L's coming from NS and Lamar. saying the deer should have beaten us is not a very good staement. how many team like...Central would say they should have beaten us 5 straight years?? the better team won. don't care if it's by one point or 100...winning is winning. i like the fact PAM's ground game is getting so much respect this year, that it should be easy for ANY popgun arm QB to throw. ijs...

also PAM don't have to worry about teams like Manvel and NS as they are now D1(Manvel is D-1 as they got moved to another district and is the biggest school. PAM barely made the cut to 6a)

Manvel is still in district 22 with the same teams as last year plus Pearland Dawson. They are no longer the smallest in the district, but not the largest either. Sixth out of nine teams. Dawson (smallest in district) will make the playoffs. Either SoHo or Pasadena would also have to make it to push Manvel to D1. Possible, but not very likely.

I do think PAM will be the #1 D2 seed out of 21-6A this year. Likely to play Dawson in bi-district.

  13. Channel 2 in Houston did a segment on him last night that included another video. Not as long of a pass, but Coach Martin wanted to make sure it wasn't faked before he allowed TV crews to do any stories. Segment includes Coach Martin talking about that.

Heard he flew to NYC last night to be on ABC Good Morning America this morning.

BTW - he's a WR, not QB. Started at CB his soph year. Had the pick-6 against PAM in bi-district that turned the momentum to Manvel in the game.

Word in Manvel is that Reggie Hemphill has an offer from UT already.

I think PAM's Kam Martin has a couple as well.

Not listed in the linked article, but Manvel's Deontay Anderson is another '16 prospect to watch. Heard he may have a UT offer as well.
Call me crazy but i think where ever Kam goes Hemphill will follow.  ;)

More than happy to call you crazy!

Just curious - is there a reason other than your mental illness that you think Kam and Hemphill will end up at the same school?
Just a hunch.  ;)
Manvel's Hemphill verbally committed to UT. First 2016 commit for UT. Think Kam will end up there also? Or will they switch to somewhere else?

Press Conference is today announcing the move..they indicated on the sports kicker this morning that they anticipate 1.2Billion in Revenue over 30 yrs...to be put inplace by 2016 season.  I guess this is more incentive for me to check out a Frisco game now lol.

Edit:  It will be a domed stadium which will hold 12k and cost $30M..of all which the school district is paying for.
$30mm for a 12,000 seat domed stadium? Sounds incredibly low priced. Isn't Katy's new outdoor stadium priced over $60mm with 14,000 capacity?
