Central football finding improvement on offense
BMTSoulja1 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jags started out 0-2 last year. After loosing to PAM 38-0 and WB 55-7 last year, I was about to throw in the towel. But things started to fall into place against Ball and the next thing you knew, we were district champs. You can quote me on this, "Jags repeat as district champs". I noticed in the WB game that the coaches were upset with Mitchell on a few occasions when he didn't keep the read option. He will give you at least one big play with his feet per game which I feel is all we need. His arm on the passes, Carter and Collier need to do the rest.
Big Ford, do you think that Carter and Collier have the capability to be as good or better than the O'Neal/Daw tandem from 2009? -

Those 50 yard runs were no fluke. He is subject to take one to the house on almost any play. I'll put that in the 'better offense' catagory. -
What teams will be undefeated after this week?
BMTSoulja1 replied to bigsoftballfan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Actually, West Brook is also Undefeated as well. Add them. 3 undefeated teams will go down after this week. West Brook will lose to The Big Red Machine. -
I have not seen Huntsville's line, but if they have size and beef up front, getting a push up front is not bad to stop this offense. They will also need some smart speedy LB's to chase them around the edges when the speed back or the QB decides to bounce to the outside. If they don't, they'll get burned back on the outside.
I say the Colmesneil @ Evadale game is the perfect game for Soulja to see. I think he has a little redneck in em already but he needs to really soak up some East Tx. redneck culture. There's nothing like the smell of the paper mill under the Friday night lights, so put on your biggest belt buckle, drop by the Short Stop near Evadale on your way....pick up a can of smokeless tobacco and enjoy the game, should be a good one, oh and btw since Bob is short for Robert.....just tell them your name is Billy Bob. ;) ;D ;D
A little redneck? Nah! Big belt buckle? Nah. (owned one as a child only since I was forced to wear one as a child to a rodeo). Smell of paper mill? Can't be any worse than the smell of Exxon/Mobil refinery early in the morning in South end Beaumont. ;D ;D Chewing tobacco? Nah. I tried that once. Let's just say I was the laughing stock of the job for several months therafter.
I think it's funny though that everyone kind of freaked out about the offense in the first two games, but it wasn't like they played a weak sister in either week.... This offense is going to be just fine once district starts and will find themselves in the playoffs....
Really, the offense was doing well in the last 2 games. The Memorial game was the only game that the offense didn't show up. -
IMO, the Bulldogs are the only real rivalry to PNG. LC-M may think of PNG as a rival, I've heard, but I have never seen them as a real rival. The spirit against Central is growing, since we have competed for the title the past couple of years, but really no big rival there.
You're right. it is growing. 2008 the shutout and the fight. 2009, the blocked FG and return by Dunbar. 2010, the Blowout. What will we see this year, PN-G fans?

Hopefully those short passes will open up the long pass. We need a few strikes down the field to keep them from trying to load the box. Mitchell have a cannon. It will be a matter of time untill he starts hitting them. -
Where is ROT and the rest of the Ltrain crew?
BMTSoulja1 replied to outanup's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The L-Train derailed on 'Hilly' terrain. They thought it resembled small ant mounds. Non of the passengers made it. -
I'm sure they would be if they were in 20-4a.
That's the point I was attempting to make.
With all due respect, Barbers Hill is a middle of the road team at best. Beating Lumberton this year is no great feat. Haven't gotten to see Big Ned play yet, but I don't thimk they are bringing the pain this year either. Get you some of the boys from Central and tell me what you think. BH can make the playoffs, but they are not the best team in any district...theirs or 20-4a.
Ask them what happened the last time they faced the Jaguars from Beaumont.
Jags won by 3 points and we were on the 20 yard line when our ex coach decided to go for an endzone shot over a field goal ;D Also beating a predicted last place team(Galveston Ball) in there district by 17 isn't much to brag about. Santa Fe is ranked above Ball and we beat them 34-0 while allowing only 56 total yards for the game. If we are middle of the road then you guys are sharing the center lane with us ;D
How do you know how that district will finish? Those guys have not played one district game yet. Y'all are playing lights out. I can't hate on that. My Jags have been playing sub-par. It's about how you finish. Just watch us around season's end. We'll be in the upper tier of the polls! 8)
Much respect to you for giving BH a little credit ;D They are playing pretty good, if we can just limit our mistakes we can make an impact on the playoffs this year. impact = getting the heck out of round 1 ;D
Yea, I know that first round have been brutal for you guys as of lately. -

Beaumont Ozen vs. Beaumont Central predictions
BMTSoulja1 replied to ozenfreshman's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ok seriously.. in order for it to be a high scoring game Central will need to be able to pass. They couldnt get a passing game going against Brook and we all saw they couldnt pass against Memorial and they were behind the entire game. If Green goes out throwing the deep ball like he proved he can do last yr. and like you said he should be even better this yr., Central will have to pass in order to order to keep it close. Question for all, would Ozens' first two games have been a little different if Green would have played, I mean West Brook was shut down for the last 3 quarters, could Green have made a difference?
Green's numbers will be great, no doubt, but factor this in. Since the Memorial game, Jag's running game have been very effective. We dominated West Brook in the trenches and moved the ball effective on the ground. So, you will have to stop us as well. Collier, Carter, and Mitchell can go at any point. I feel good about our pass defense. We've gotten light years better since week 0. I hope we can play solid next week. I do wish Ozen the best of luck after the Soul Bowl. I hope they make the playoffs. -
You have all of last year too know what Green is capale of duh!!! Oh and just look at the what the enterprise had to say about last weekenn 66-6. 4 T.D.'s ENOUGH said
Can't base it off of last year. This year, there are probably different plays ran. Ozen probably have different tendencies. And most importantly, Green is probably a whole lot better than he was last year. Same as Mitchell. He's a year more advanced. This could be interesting. I still say we win by a score in a high scoring one. -
