  1. my bad bon mot about the ballas

No problem at all!!  We needed a fresh start!

With the money allotted, you can buy ALOT of top class players... But thats a good thing LOL

Not gunna lie, I have a pretty stacked team... I'm not saying, I'm just saying...  ;D

I'm just hoping that this year they'll actually change the values of players throughout the year so that by the end we aren't all sharing 7 or 8 players.

And don't forget Michael Harrington the rookie defender at KC who you could get for the minimum price even thought he started just about every game in the midfield.  But according to the rules, the salaries will be reset every Monday morning.

  2. I see that MLSNet has heard our cries and has changed their rules quite a bit.

The changes look to be for the better.

I don't have time right now to set up the league, so if someone else wants to take the initiative, go ahead.  Just let us know what the league name and password are.

And for full disclosure purposes, I just wanted to let everyone know that I won my pointy football fantasy league this past year, too.  I'm not saying... I'm just saying...  ;)

  3. UIL is doubling the number of districts next year, so our area will likely be split into two districts of 6 or 7 teams (according to how far they extend our "area").  In addition to that, soccer is taking 4 teams to the play-offs so next year.  So I would say that Ozen has a lot better shot at making the play-offs next year.  Re-alignments will be announced the next month or so.

  4. My kingdom for a goal!  We are obviously having trouble scoring after being shut out in consecutive games.  We've seen a couple of really good defenses, but we're going to have to take advantage of our opportunities a little better if we are going to be successful.

i do believe nederlands coach cried the whole game about the first goal. even after the game was over, he continued to argue, like he had a better perspective on that ball than the AR, who was standing even with the goal.

Anyone can search my history on this site.  I don't normally get on here to respond to attacks on me, but I for some reason I feel like rebutting this statement.  First of all, how can someone cry "the whole game" about a goal that was scored midway through the second half?!  Did I time-travel and shout preemptive cries?  Next, in my mind there is a major difference in protesting ONE egregious call and yelling about EVERY SINGLE CHALLENGE.  Admittedly neither scenario is ideal, though.  Also, you can see from the Youtube clip that the AR is not on the line and he raises his flag  ???  , which is not the signal for a goal.  And finally, I'd like you to answer this:  If you thought my response was extreme, what would have been the reaction from your sideline had that call been made against them?  I stand firm and believe that the incessant badgering of that AR influenced that decision.

All in all, the better team won.  I have abso-friggin-lutely no problem saying that.  The Lumberton players deserved that win, and I wish them good luck in the play-offs.

  5. With the double shut-out, I think both of the entire defenses deserve an "attaboy"!  I don't know the specific names for LCM's defenders and keeper other than Ethan McMcay, but I think there were a set of twins out there doing their duty of shutting down the Nederland attack along with a few others.  As for Nederland, I'm pretty sure Vidrine would agree that the contributions of Lawler, Barnett, Kemp, and Landry are a shared accomplishment for any shut-out.

  6. My FSC was inexplicably not working with my Time Warner, and they couldn't fix it.  Needless to say, I now have dish network.  I've been watching the same couple of games over and over again for the past 2 days, but I'll take anything after not having the channel for 3 months!

Don't forget GolTV in the 400's on Dish!  They carry the Bundisliga and La Liga.  I've been LOVING watching Real Madrid and Barca.  Other than the Big 4, I can't stand to watch the EPL.

  8. The card system we use is set by the UIL.  It's a point system.  A yellow card is worth one point, and a red card is worth 5 points.  A player cannot earn more than 5 TOTAL POINTS in a single contest.  A player will sit out when he reaches the following:

    5 points = 1 game

    10 points = 2 games

    15 points = 3 games

    etc.

Points reset for the play-offs, but a player must serve his suspension if it runs into the play-offs.

  10. Why not give the 3A teams and 4A teams separate playoff brackets.  When we redistrict in 2009-2010, it is likely to happen anyway.  It seems like a lot of trouble just to prolong the inevitable from happening.  There are going to be problems to work out either way.  Redo the whole thing once and be done with it.  With the top number for 3A going up, some of the 4A teams will drop to 3A and add to the number of 3A teams also.

The UIL can't put 3A and 4A teams into separate brackets because there are only around 60 3A teams so far, and technically the 3A's are petitioning to "play up" a classification.  Any school can petition to play up one classification in any sport.  Kountze used to have a soccer program but had to drop it when they went to 2A because a school cannot "play up" 2 classifications.  Also, we won't realign until the 2010-'11 season.

Aries, although your point about the 4A schools possibly losing players to injury in these 1st round games has some merit, I think it's safer for the bigger schools to only play one game against the rougher, lesser-skilled 3A's in the playoffs rather than 6-8 games during the regular district schedule.

Agreed.  I don't think the UIL will ever consider the "possibility of injury during a game" for anything.  They've got the rules and officials in place.  Otherwise the captains would meet at the center cirlce and have a massive Paper, Rock, Scissor throwdown!

An idea brought up on the other site was to group schools geographically into 64 districts and then divide the play-offs into Div 1 and Div 2 (big school / small school) for the post season like pointy ball does.  There'd still be some empty districts and some 1st or 2nd round byes, but it might reduce the number of 10+ to nothing blow-outs in the early rounds, and knock out the "How could they make the play-offs when they wouldn't have won a game in our district?" arguement.

However, I think the main idea with the current plan is to grow soccer amongst the 3A schools.

  11. :-[

I was a little embarrassed to be associated with the Nederland program tonight.  Nederland played the last 25 minutes with 9 men because a couple of young men put themselves before the team.  That kind of behavior - whether is was a retaliation or not - will never be condoned.  It really puts a damper on what should have been a good result and alos puts the team in a further bind as these two seniors will not be available against Vidor Friday night.

  12. A girfriend of mine at A&M went to Nolan.  Let's just say if their defense is as stingy as she was, expect a low scoring game.   ;)

    ahahahaha!  well played, sir.

Just be glad this wasn't a baseball game.  Nobody would have a chance of getting to second base, then. (rim-shot)  Thank you.  Thank you.  Don't forget to tip your waitresses.
