That will ultimately hurt their team with no "warm-up" game for the playoffs. Hopefully the week off will just give them needed rest instead.

Why is it that EVERY year, WOS, Newton, and traditionally Jasper (not gonna happen this year of course) are the only teams that are still going strong 3, 4 or 5 rounds deep? With all of the talent, there is no reason some other schools should not be in there as well. I know Nederland and sometimes PNG are capable of making late appearances, but usually not EVERY year. Southeast Texas is LOADED with talent... just look at the recruits that sign every year (many D1). Is it just that Barbay and Hooks and their staffs are that far ahead of all of the other area's coaches or what? No other region in Texas features as much raw talent as your area... just curious of the problems.

Traditionally PNG/Nederland... hands down. The Jasper/Newton, WOS/Jasper games over the past decade or so have been my favorite though, because they feature the biggest state powers that this region puts out year after year. I HOPE Jasper improves, so these games will be good again next year. I also hope Hooks and Barbay start scheduling each other again after next year, even though everytime they are supposed to play a dang hurricane comes in. :cry:

green (dayton) and burch (newton)... They have both had huge impacts for their teams this year and have promising futures. I would like to see some stats for these guys if anyone has any... I understand that burch runs, receives, and kicks for Newton?!?! That is a ton of responsibility for a sophmore.

LC-M in a tight one. Maybe 3 to 6 points. They should be proud of the season they have had.

I actually hope hemphill wins, so newton will go D1. I think that Newton would run through D2 like they did last year in D1. With Newton as D1, there would be no argument in the end of who is the best team in 2A. I think that Newton, Tatum, and Marlin are hands down the most talented teams in 2A, and I personally would like to see them on a crash course to settle who is actually the best in 2A. Ive never known any of these coaches to take the easy way out in anything, so I am betting that they are hoping to all go into the same bracket. Without this, there will be another Celina saying they are the best even though they never saw Barbay's team head to head.... just a thought. :idea:
