all though I agree  on your above statements.. most teams have been scaled back to this for awhile now... me i believe you have to have full contact for the body to learn how to protect itself on a 2nd nature status.... just like breathing... your body has to learn how to take a hit... which muscles to tighten... which ones to loosen... and it will get use to repairing itself over a weeks time.... if you don't think that is a true statement ... ( as much as I hate to say it being a Cowboys fan ) look at the Steelers and Ravens.... they hit more then anytime in the league during the season... and they are the least hurt.... or at least they were in the Cowher days... now that they have slacked off they have more and more on the injury report.... but back on subject most teams are all ready in this mode....
It's a lose/lose situation.  If you don't hit a lot and have physical practices, then it translates to poor tackling and blocking on friday night.  If you do hit a lot and go full speed most of the week, then the ones you have left are really sound fundamentally.  But depending on who you lose during the week, it can be devastating to that team's season.  If you don't have the numbers in your program, then it affects you the most.  You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
How much time a week during the season do you think coaches spend on "Tackling" drills? How many teams you know have multiple, full speed, game simulation scrimmages during the week during the season?
Exactly...most if not all schools have already been in this mode for years. Fans overreacting...nothing will change. There is a reason you saw no backlash from Coaches
 3. Overreaction....by the fans...most schools did this ANYWAY, well atleast the teams who planned on having long seasons...nothing will change noticably. It's not limiting practice to 90 mins or practice in pads to 90 minutes...it's Tackling drills, full game simulation scrimmages..etc. How many SMART coaches you know were having their kids go at each other full speed leading up to game day anyway? Relax folks...this was already going on....now it's just a rule so that the coaches with too much pride and dont know when to say when wont go overboard.....nothing will change.
 4. Back to the topic...I'm pretty sure most of those teams had "Down" or rebuliding years....SLC was 3-6-1 in 1996, Permian was 3-6 in 1997 and went several years missing the playoffs...same with Abilene. Katy's WORST record since 1986 is 5-5....and have only missed the playoffs twice since then. Worst record since 1992 is 8-4 all this while other schools have been build in Katy...Cinco Ranch, Seven Lakes, Morton Ranch...and now Thompkins.
uhhhhh....no. one player came from Humble......he didnt get a title. None from NS..You'd be surprised how many "Studs" transfer into Katy and then LEAVE because  they can't grasp the playbook and dont sniff the field. Katy isnt the most talented team, but they execute better than most. I've personally seen players from other schools come and after being told they'd be in a position battle with 3-4 other guys....some smaller and slower.....leave
:o
Truth.

 7. Not possible for Lamar to go D2...think them and Bellaire are the largest two teams in the district.
 8. Hate to say it....but Katy might be geard up for a few more title runs.....scary
 9. plenty of room..trust me. Live next to Berry Center...will be PLENTY of room...trust me...seen it "Sold out" 3 times..Cy-fair vs Cy-falls when Mcguffie was there...Katy vs Cy-Fair and Katy vs Cy-woods. "Seats" are in the reserved areas...you can squeeze a lot of people on the benches, the walkways, the platform in the endzone....
 10. Great Stadium....if Berry can handle the katy crowd...it will handle this one.

 14.
I thought Katy would've been upset earlier in the year but now I'm not so sure they can be beat. This is the most complete pkg.team I've seen in a long time.LaPorte has a knack to play their best vs Tigers so I'm picking Katy by 6 but I think Laporte may win the 1st half.Prove me wrong LaPorte I'm not a big(bully) Katy fan 8)
Knack to play their BEST games vs Katy? 2008: 42-0 2009: 37-3 2011: 9-7 Cinco Ranch beat Katy in OT in 2008...all of a sudden it was a "Rivalry" and Cinco "always plays Katy close" Cinco Ranch was blown out every game before 2008 and every game after. Not saying that's gonna happen with LP....but a one close game, one year does not become a rivalry. Also...the tides have turned this year...Katy is actually hunting LP...and LP is banged up.....could be a close one, or Katy COULD run away with it. However, LP is solid vs the run so I think it will be a close, low scoring game. Interesting to see what LP will do on offense...after all...they've only put up 12 points vs Katy in 3 meetings and I think this Katy defense is better than the previous 3 teams.
 15.
I would love for La Porte or any other team that plays Katy to come out punch them in the mouth first. You cannot play scared against them. They are like any other bully, you cannot run for them. Your shoulder pads and helmets are just like theirs. You have to use them in the way that they are intended. I am not going to say that this is going to guarantee you a victory but you will garner their respect. Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth and Katy has not been hit this year. Games like this is why you play football. Defy the odds and play your hearts out on Saturday.
That's the speech you give a team that's already indimidated........ LP is confident.....so is Katy...will be a good game.

Katy tried everything they could to keep from scoring. RB had 15 carries 222 yards 4 4TD's in the first half. All starters sat after halftime. 10 freshmen played the 4th qtr. 120 kids suited up and every single one of them got playing time. Another reason why 4 teams shouldnt be in the playoffs....mismatch from the get go.
smh, this was just a warm up game for them.
Looks like it's Katy and Steele in the semis.
Katy has to one up La Porte first, then either PAM/Manvel. I dont think thats gonna happen.  ;) Steele should have no trouble in region 4.
They have 5 state titles since '97 and have played for 10 titles since '94. They've probably had tougher roads. I just think Katy is licking their chops at this D2 bracket.
And people are ready to right them off after a 9-7 loss.....I wouldnt bet against them
I'm not a comparison A beats B who beats C, who loses to A kinda' guy. I like to look at execution of each specific team. Right now, Katy and NS are executing very well within their own styles. Katy has an easier district schedule--to me--than NS. But, NS may have the easier road in D1R3 than Katy. D2R3--this year--seems like it very well may be more loaded with quality teams in each round.
Agreed, but a lot of people love that irrelevant formula. Right now, the greater houston area is a crap shoot with only Katy and North Shore standing out like you said.... Katy seems to be a lock for D2, would love to see them against North Shore again. Cinco Ranch is a pretty decent team and people forget they were with out 5 starters, all captians by the way vs North Shore...RB Jamel James and QB Cole Thomas as well....I still think North Shore wins that game, but more than likely not a blow out......Katy's depth this year is crazy
Katy is deep at RB, TE, DL, and LB. An argument could be made they're 3 deep at QB. Depth in secondary, OL is light. WR position is non-existant right now. Kicking game is MUCH improved.  ;)
With the way they are running the ball now...they dont need kickers or WR's lol Depth shouldnt be an issue with all games being over at halftime and lots of players getting playing time. I saw something on Twitter saying that in 3 of their 4 games this year...every kid that suited up played....that's crazy considering that the 4 teams they played are probably playoff teams
