This is a smart move on JJ part he has tremendous athletic ability and very good work ethic. He will go to some school and show them what he is made of. heck if he goes to blinn we might be looking at the next Cam
Cam Newton was one of the most phenomenal college athletes of all time who pretty much single handedly won a national title. Johnson is a great athlete, but let's be realistic.

I dont remeber Cam playing Defense... but thats just me

Don't remember the Auburn defense playing much defense either...but that's just me.

You know what I mean by "single handedly". We know he didn't snap the ball to himself or catch his own passes, but he was the main reason they won the NC.

  3. Until they raise the pay or there is a sudden spike in talent, H-F will continue to be a stepping stone school. They might as well go out and get a big name because whoever they get is going to leave after a couple years anyway. The only people I see that would stay more than 3 years from that list is Lance Dale (who is from H-F) or Billy Tilton (who coached there in the 90's).

In the last 4 years H-F's record has been 6-34 (Mangan: 3-17, Price: 3-17). If the new coach goes 8-12 in his first 2 years, he is going to look like a miracle worker. Then, he'll leave. Revolving door.
  4. Alright I am going to throw my ingredients into the pot because I went to H-F once upon a time, and I believe I know a little bit about the Admin/coaching/teaching aspect of the situation at hand. Throughout my years at H-F as a student athlete I noticed that H-F was what I like to call a "stepping-stone school", and by that I mean that H-F was never a coach's final destination. It seems as though everyone was using H-F to get to greener pastures, or just took the job because that was the only thing available.

Now that I've said that, I would like to comment on the discussion about players transferring to other schools because of sports, and I would like to tell those players to take off your superstar glasses and stop looking at the world as if all the college scouts are here to watch "Little Johnny" play basketball, football, etc. More than likely none of these kids we speak of are superstar athletes and probably won't play basketball at a D-1 college, as there are very few athletes in all of SETX to do so, and even less in Hamshire-Fannett. If an athlete is D-1 caliber, people usually know before he even gets to high school. If the kid likes to play basketball, let him play for his hometown and not be like LeBron and "take his talents elsewhere". There is no pride in moving to the bigger/better school, because when you stay home, work hard, and build something that the community can support, it builds a sense of pride. That's how programs are built, not by everyone running to greener pastures. High school is about getting your education, making friends/memories on and off the court that you will remember for the rest of your life, maturing as an adult, and finding out what you want to do with the rest of your life.

believe me it aint your basketball coach that is makin em lift on gamedays
are yall serious they weight train on GAME DAY??? like full workout or light load?
Any weight training on game days is stupid, but if you choose to be a multiple sport athlete then you should be dedicated to each sport by giving effort into each respective sport. If there isn't a game on that day and a student only has basketball practice that day then the student should do his lifting for football on that day, but lifting on game days is totally ignorant on the football and basketball coach's behalf. If I'm not mistaken I have heard that H-F actually has some talented players on varsity this year and if that's true then there is no reason not to see results.
