( of course, I fully understand that while the Silsbee group will be the group representing Silsbee when they get to high school, the composition of the Yates group is likely to change substantially )
Such is life. As a Tea Party thinker, you of all people should believe in competing with the best.  ;)
I do believe in that.  However, you left out doing so ethically.
recru.....errr.....preparation by pre-district schedule (strong or weak)??  ;D
You left out incorrect conditioning programs

 4.
Look at HJ, they win with the kids they have every year. Ya gotta give credit to the coaching staff [s]and the weak district[/s]  ;D
If I was a Silsbee fan, I would be offended by Da Doves comment.

I hear they have 5-6 sure fire studs in that group. I wish them nothing but the best and lets bring home 2-3 rings.
::) Two words ..................JACK YATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D
Yep, Jack Yates.  However, when the aforementioned Silsbee kids are in high school, Jack Yates will be back in 4-a and someone else will be concerned about their acquisition program (even though I would take the Silsbee 7th and 8th graders over whatever Yates has in the same grade right now
Maybe I should have kept the article in the Houston Chronicle stating how Yates' student population is dwindling.  ;D  Most kids from Yates go across town to attend Lamar High. Been happening for years. Sorry Silsbee & HJ
Enrollment is dwindling?  Has the "communications program" lost its edge?  The dwindling enrollment didnt seem to stop those 40 new athletic transfers last fall.
 7. Well, we could always talk about how Yates recruits or discuss the integrity of Triple A.
The Silsbee future  thread got me to thinking... There are several teams represented on this site that has very good bb teams year in and year out....Lufkin Hudson probally has the best program in our district. Their win loss record is usually not as strong as some teams on here but they have a very good program....Does better athletes make a better program?......  I guess what I'm really asking is who is really the best year in and year out, Silsbee or HJ?  ;D
I think you are trying to stir up a hornets nest.

 11.
I heard Yates has been watching this group.
I'll bet they have.  I wonder if any of the Silsbee players will get "invited" to play for a Houston AAU team?
 12. Then there ought to be a state title somewhere in there ( assuming, of course, that those with "special player acquisition programs" have a more difficult time with their acquisitions)
 13. I had the opportunity to watch the Silsbee Little Dribblers Senior team (7th and 8th graders, I believe) play at the National Tourney in Canton over the weekend.  I cant recall seeing a group that was so dominant over everyone they played against.  If those kids  stay together and continue to progress, I believe it will be hard for anyone to beat them by the time they are playing varsity.  I also cannot imagine anyone from any school in the Golden Triangle( same age level, of course) being able to compete effectively against them.
 14. Three seasons ago, HJ lost a pool game to Cayuga and then wound up beating them in the finals.  Very high quality 2-a entrants in the upcoming tourney.  Try something else
 15.
::) Its called beating up on each other. The stronger teams battle each other and by the time one reaches the finals, they are too beaten up and tired to beat [s][s]HJ[/s][/s] errr.. their opponent from the weaker pool schedule.  ;D
I don't believe that 16-18 year old kids have much problem with being beaten up and tired playing 3 or 4 games over a three day period.
 16. Yes, the standard excuse is "whats wrong with bigger, stronger and faster?"
Since you have to essentially beat every team to win the title, why are you so concerned about the pool?  Hj won it last year and the year before, so they obviously beat teams that beat every other team in each pool.  As for the pooling of teams, I am not aware of any school that hosts a tournament that doesn't try to give the host a good chance of advancing to the semis.

Kinda reminds you of the  HJ vs Yates game.  ;D
The HJ Yates game would be comparable to you playing me in a golf match ( or tennis)  I take that back because I didnt need anyone from Africa to assist me in my golf and tennis efforts.
Or me playing you in racquetball  ;)
No doubt about it.  Particularly since I have never played it in my life
No, it applies to SOME individuals  >:(  Now go take your nap  ;D
No, it applies at the NBA level, at college level, at high school, at junior high, and at Little Dribblers. ( The aforementioned players likely participated in each of those levels)  Dont need a nap.  I jogged 4 miles this morning before I got to work and that keeps me going.( The only reason I mentioned the 4 miles is because I know all of that jogging and cross country type stuff drives you nuts)
Running/jogging is fine for us (us  ??? ), for you. Kids can play whole court games everyday and stay in basketball shape during off season.
Is that how LeBron and Kobe stay in shape during the off season?
