It cost a lot of money and takes a whole lot of time to host a World Series.  The host team is responsible for all of the expenses for the tourney.  Weather is also a problem for us this time of year.  If we would have hosted the Regional this year we would just now be able to play with all of the rain. The World Series will be played in Weimar, but all of the surrounding cities are involved, so it is more than 2,000 people.
Nederland would get stuck with the cost while Beaumont and Port Arthur would get the benefit of the revenue (Restaurant, hotel, etc). I get your point.

 3. Nederland eliminated by Groves 9-8 in a very good, tight game.
I think it will be more of the Parents in wonder why my baby isn't starting. "My son has a life time batting Average of 600" LOL  ..... Then I can see it now.....  Special Meeting with the school board cause the Coach is playin politics or whatever that YouTube video said. ;D
My son does have a lifetime batting avg. of 600 and he struck your kid out 3 times in one game this season...ROTFLMAO!!  ;D
 7. Guess way too much has been said on this subject. Let the games begin and hopefully District 32 will get passed Sectionals this year.
LOL..I agree, batting avg can be very misleading. However RBI's, HRs and playing multiple fielding positions is not.
My point is if you are going to field 12 kids on a team and expect to go very far, then you should pick the strongest 12 kids from the league..period.

 10. After giving the allstar selection process more thought and concideration  I came to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with the allstar coach bringing a custom list to the draft and completely throwing out the other league coaches selections and ignoring the player's season stats. After all..he is spending the time and effort coaching this team so by god he should get to choose who he wants on the team regardless. There are several methods of choosing a championship team..1) let the team coaches vote for players on other teams, not his, 2) choose the kids with batting averages over .400, high RBIs, > # of home runs and who can play multiple positions (can pitch) well or 3) let the coach pick his team. I am just curious..which method do you think is the best? I vote for #2
 11. I never stated that Nederland all starts was a select team and they were already practicing. I said that they were pretty much already selected to the team before the season was over...regardless of their season stats. This is very unfair to the kids who had better stats than lets say..half of the team.
 12. Do not take it as a reflection of your kids' talent if he did not make it on the all star team. Like most all star teams around here the teams are pretty much already selected before the season even gets started. I realize the coaches are not selected until after the season but the one that is selected already has a preconceived idea who he wants on the team. So playing stats during the season really means absolutely nothing at all. The team is made up of kids the coaches want..not necessarily the kids who played the best during the year. In retrospect, making and playing on the all star team is really not that big of a thing. It would be if it was a true "all star" team, but it is not. Tell your kid to hold his head up and keep doing his best. At the end of the day, that is what really counts!  :)
 13.
There is more to the game than home runs.If you play for home runs you will not play too many games. We need a strong (D) to win. Been to many bb games, never heard a coach say,"Gee son wished you didn't hit that homer."
and you wonder why kids are flocking to Select Ball    ;D
 14.
How did Dylan Moss not make all stars? Was it political? Surely not in Nederland.
Typical all-star selection process..best kids don't always make it. How far did they go as 11's last year?

 16. Excuse me if I missed this bit of info somewhere in this thread..what time is gametime?

 18.
Supposedly the entire Beaumont Gladiator program is banned from USSSA and any associated tournaments...please explain.  Maybe some bad blood???
If this is true then it will really hurt the younger Elite teams and the older teams since they rely more on USSSA to play tournaments.
 19.
I am very surprised that we haven't had any games scheduled for tomorrow be bumped up to today.
That would have mave perfectly good sense..that's why I am not suprised nobody did it.
 20. Top 4 picks (IMHO) in District 20-4A: 1. PNG 2. Livingston 3. LCM 4. Nederland
 21.
Oh oh. I see Nederland fans walking out in the 4th qtr as predicted.
Bright side is they do not have far to drive.
