  1. Haylon Leckelt sets new rushing record for the Pirates.
  2. According to Chronicle stats, 11 penalties for 93 yards, smh.
  3. Not bad at all. I had it pegged as a one or two score, but what do I know.
  4. Yes he did look good, a lot like his brother in fact. Those penalties have sustained opponents' drives for two games now and hurt Pirates' offense's ability to sustain drives.
  5. Hope it's not serious, he did have his pads and helmet on midway through the 4th. He is a big part of the offense and you could definitely notice his absence (and speed) in the second half.
  6. Seems like I say it every week, penalties have to be cleaned up, seems like every time in the second half Vidor would get a first down, a penalty would bring it back. Also not having Leckelt in the the second half hurt as well. Anybody know what his injury is? Lumberton played hard, did not quit, and they have some hard running backs and QB. I was impressed with how hard they ran.
  7. This game will be a lot closer than 42-10, probably a one or two score difference either way. I believe Lumberton is better than a lot of folks on this board give them credit for. They basically beat themselves with mistakes in the Livingston game.
  8. Nederland has a good football team, they should be in contention in every game left on the schedule with PAM and PNG being the toughest games. Win one of those two and you are likely in the playoffs IMO.
  9. He is on the sidelines at the games, he was an assistant coach before he became principal and was QB 1 for the Pirates back in 2000. No altercation with him. In the first half a VISD police officer, (Not Vidor PD), was too close to the sideline and seemed to be getting a bit too "involved" in the game. One of the sideline officials stopped the game and instructed him to move back toward the track area and he did. This happened near the west end zone.
  10. I agree, this game could very well be for a playoff spot. Lumberton is a solid team, especially on defense. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few new wrinkles on the Pirate offense this week.
  11. Look at the size of the Nederland tackle in the picture, number 78/79?. He looks like a giant out there. The Pirate defender's helmet comes up his shoulder pads!
  12. Didn't realize there were multiple poets on this board. Lol!
  13. This game is going like a 6A team is playing a 4A team!
  14. That is really cool, you're showing off your literary skills there!
  15. Great post, both teams played hard, great crowd and atmosphere, hard fought game etc. Time to move on to the next opponents, Memorial for the Bulldogs. Lumberton for the Pirates. Good luck to Nederland the rest of the way.
  16. I refrain from making predictions, but I view this game as a toss-up. Lumberton under Coach Babin has been revived and has beaten the Pirates the past two years. On the other hand, Vidor's defense has improved and with Quirante at QB, the offense has too. Vidor must clean up the penalties and can't have a let down that takes away from focusing on the Raiders. I expect another hard-fought game between these two teams.
  17. Hope you're right, I know the 9th and JV have been good so far this year.
  18. Step away from the keg! Enjoy this one and take 'em one year at a time! You know Q's a senior ,right?
  19. This game was not one for a heart patient to be at. Dare I say it had all the ingredients of a "rivalry" game? Sold out stadium, SRO crowd, enthusiastic fans, lots to boo and cheer and even overtime. I know it's not a rivalry but I'll take whatever it is!
  20. Way too many. TD called back, run down to the 3 yard line called back, long interception return called back. Also at one point in the fourth quarter there was a call on the defense on every play.
  21. Well said. Any team in the district would be happy to have a win over Nederland due to the Bulldogs' success since Coach Neumann has been there. The matchup doesn't need to be a true PNG vs Nederland type rivalry game for fans of the opposing team to enjoy a victory. And yes, for the past 5 years Nederland has set the bar for success in this district.
  22. Yes, much improved over last year and since the BH game.
  23. Last year it was more the Calvin Tyler show.
  24. Is Vidor ever going to get to play Nederland at the Boneyard again? I know it's been four or five years.
  25. Sounds like a heck of a fourth quarter. Full moon in Livingston!
