Newton and WOS pound for pound, are by far, the best teams in East Texas, year in, and year out. And maybe the State. But let there be no doubt, Silsbee has a great team, and they will prove that point, be years end.

No Doubt

We shall play the game just in case.

Two great programs going head to head. This is going to be a heck of a game. No matter the outcome, there really are no losers here. I hope this is the last time they play. Anxiety is to much

Yeah, Newton really looked gassed

Newton had more penalties, I do believe than Silsbee. Not sure about the turnover margin. Great teams, make good teams look bad. But Silsbee does have a good team. and will go deep.

They are who they say they are!!! And the Cannon is reloaded, football fans!!!

Newton vs Silsbee Who you got?

It may be possible! I think it is. Even if they lose all three of these games. Silsbee, WOS and Gilmer jave considerably better teams than they had last year. If Newton stays close or wins one are all three of these games, I think they may have a better team than last year. Newton will improve considerably as the year progresses. But time will tell ,and make geniuses or dummies out of us. -

Probably during District play they will move some people up and let them get much needed varsity experience. I really don't see much of a threat during district play. CC may have a good team but they won't be able to play with Newton. And if they move a lot of kids up to play during second half of the game it will give the bread and butter some rest. No disrespect, but I just see District play as prep for the playoffs. It's a foregone conclusion, in my mind. -

I think thats a safe prediction. But I don't think Silsbee will hang 27 on Newton's defense. But this will be a test for Newton offensively and defensively. This will tell us how good they really are. I just happen to believe that they may even be better this year than last year. As hard as that is to believe. Understand, I think Silsbee is better than last year as well.and WOS and Gilmer as well. -

I think Newtons defense shuts down Silsbee and Newtons offense rolls. Newton by 21 -
Newton Eagles vs Kirbyville Wildcats

I think their quarterback has the potential to be a pretty good throwing QB. If given the opportunity. Unfortunately 3 of their next 4 games may not be the best time togetvthat game experience. But we will see. During District play may be a great opportunity for him to throw a lot. I would like to see him air it out 15-20 times a game during District play. I think none of those games will be close and it will give him and opportunity to build his confidence. JMO -

Kirbyville is much improved this year, I agree. Newton will probably hang 42 on them. Kirbyville might score twice. I'm being very generous -

They may win another State Championship in a down season -
This kid is a star. His presence on the field alone makes a difference. Just throw the football his way and he will make the adjustment to the ball. When he was on the field the other recievers mysteriously played better. And of course his play as a receiver opened the game up substantially for the running game, which he was a part of as well. And on defense, it's in your best interest not to throw at him. And he saved many touchdowns with his closing speed. I'm not privy to the problems he was having, but I sure hope he overcomes and it, and it doesn't effect him on the next level. Good Luck to the young man

Is their nobody here thats actually in the know? Or is this a big secret so Canadian doesn't know what to prepare for? In my opinion Tamazia is a 2-3 touchdown advantage. Maybe 2-5

And if he don't?

I 100% agree. Not playing well usually is directly related to key matchups and style of play. Newton didn't do much different than they do every week. Several passes where dropped but you can't blame that on play calling. EB has a great defense, period. They have a boring, clock consuming grind it out offense. But very effective. Newton has a great offense and a great defense that will normally result in a lot of points. I congratulate EB on their play and their season. Newton has another week. And I'll pretty much guarantee, they are a better team due to EB. Even the people that are making derogatory statements about Newton's play would have never predicted yesterdays game outcome. My lesson learned is, Newton is human after all.
