  1. Why do we argue about things we can't prove? Opinions are like butts. Newton will prove who they are in the next two weeks. We aren't going to play the 4A or 5A or 6A champions. I've got my own opinion on how good Newton really is. And I can prove it, just like you can.
  2. I guess if there ever was any questions they have been answered. Dangerfield has a good football team. Newton is as advertised!!!!
  3. Dangerfield is the best team Newton has played since Gilmer. They have a very good football team. Great quarterback, good running back and good receivers. The quarterback has great vision and knows where his receivers are at all times. Very impressed by this kid. Id like to see Newton get a grip on their penalties. Last 2 weeks its been terrible. Dangerfield is playing as good football right now as anyone. This game ,I believe will show Newton's character and who they really are at this point. Excited about this game as much as I've been since Gilmer and WOS. I expect Dangerfield to be in the fight. If Newton blast them, they are who they say they are!!
  4. Dangerfield has a high powered offense, they may score 18. But Newton won't be held to under 50. They won't start subbing their JV until that point. This machine don't stop for caution lights
  5. They are playing very well and have a lot of good athletes with great speed. The quarterback is a good athlete that can run or throw the football. He has great vision and always knows where his receivers are. Just when you think he is going to be sacked, he will flip the ball to a receiver. Really looking forward to this game.
  6. 1102 North 8th St., Gunter, TX 75058. ... The Gunter varsity football team lost by double forfeit in Friday's neutral playoff game against Comanche (TX). ... This game is part of the "2018 Football State Championships - 2018 Football This was on Max Preps but I couldn't find it anywhere else yet
  7. True dat! But I believe they are much improved. But time will tell
  8. I believe WOS is much better than their record indicates. Being from Newton, that kinda makes me a Jasper fan as well, by default. But, I think WOS has to many athletes and particularly speed for Jasper, and I see WOS pulling of the perceived upset this weekend.
  9. Newton should blast this team. But I always look forward to them playing a good passing team. Unfortunately for Troup, the quarterback will not be very comfortable for very long. I'm thinking midway through 2nd quarter he may have taken all the pounding he will be able to handle. By stats, he's 5"10 145. He isn't built for it. Maybe they will surprise me. Not likely. But Newton could use a challenge. Probably won't happen this week though. Newton hangs 50 and still plays a lot of freshman and sophomeres, before the half.
  10. • #10 Weslee Ross, Sr., 6-0, 145 (101-of-169, 1,890 yards, 25 TDs, 4 INTs; 66 carries, 300 yards, 9 TDs) This kid can throw the football well under pressure. • #5 RB/LB Calob Smith, Jr., 5-9, 155 (5-9, 155 (79 carries, 648 yards, 4 TDs; 3 catches, 27 yards; 66 tackles, 3 for loss, 3 PBUs, 1 INT, 3 forced fumbles, 1 recovery) • #24 RB/DL Trent Allen, Sr., 5-10, 201 (108 carries, 1,170 yards, 21 TDs; 82 tackles, 15 for loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack, 2 INTs, 1 defensive TDs) Pretty good size kid. Their primary back. Doesn't show that much speed. • #25 WR Jaden Lewis, Jr. (27 catches, 742 yards, 10 TDs)One of their top receivers • #7 WR Desmon Deason, Jr., 5-10, 170 (30 catches, 439 yards, 5 TDs) Another top receiver • #2 WR/LB Bryce Attaway, Sr., 5-9, 160 (15 catches, 234 yards, 4 TDs; 103 tackles, 25 for loss, 5 sacks, 5 PBUs, 3 forced fumbles) • #12 LB Max Hale, Sr., 5-9, 170 (128 tackles, 10 for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 sack, 1 INT) • #45 DB Matt Adams, Sr., 6-0, 170 (82 tackles, 20 for loss, 3 INTs, 1 PBU, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles)
  11. If Newton gets coached up and keeps the penalties under last week's 140 yards. Newton hangs 50 easily. If they don't, well Newtons hangs 50 anyway!!
  12. Why does everyone seemed shocked when a one dimensional team loses? If your a fan, you should be making that statement 3 years ago. One dimensional teams rarely win in the big dance. Woodville has the athletes. Several quarterbacks need to be developed to make a change for a different outcome.
  13. Newton with at least 140 yds in penalties. They may get a talking to
  14. Newton has lost 3 onsides kicks in the past 2 weeks. I'd expect on sides kicks every time. And a lot of trick plays. Honestly I don't think any team in the 3A division can compete with Newton athletically. So they should probably pull out all the stops. Thats the only chance they have.
  15. Newtons passing game is much better today. Now they need to work on the penalties
  16. In 3A D2 region IV there is two teams with 2-8 records going to the playoffs. On the other hand Newton is playing the fourth place team out of region 3 district eleven which is 8-2. I think 2-4 teams in that district is 5-2 in their District.
  17. JMO If your losing at the same point every season you might want to look at what your doing wrong. Not what your doing right. Look at what is consistently winning it all. Maybe emulate that.
  18. I'm just saying with great talent, recognize it early, and throw the ball a lot at practice. If your playing a team you're sure to beat. Throw it a lot on your way to that sure victory. Particularly during the 7th, 8th and JV years. Then by the time they are varsity quarterbacks they can be that threat.
  19. I believe in order for you to make deep runs into the playoffs you must have a complete team. You must be able to throw the ball well also. Woodville has the athletes to compete with anyone in their division in the State. But I believe you must spread the ball around and keep your opponents off balance. I think that has to be your mentality if you're going to compete for State Championships. You may win a Championship or two every 20 years with a dominant running team but if you are a serious threat throwing the ball as well you will be much more successful. JMO
  20. I think we will get Dangerfield in the first round. Waskom if they win, and most likely will, in the 3rd round
  21. Elisian Fields has already beat Dangerfield this year. If it comes down to a tie I suppose that will be the tie breaker. Dangerfield plays Pewitt next week. Looks like they have a tougher schedule left. We will have to wait and see. Dangerfield has a pretty good quarterback. Running or throwing. If he has time in the pocket he is very accurate. The time factor in the pocket will not likely be and option against Newton. He's a good runner and waits on his blocking when he runs Most likely he will have to throw while running for his life.
