  1. It almost time! I passed the field and the end zones were getting a fresh coat of Wildcat Spirit! The Kirbyville Cats will be at home to take on Bridgecity. Jackson Gore is back under center for the Cats with experience and a ton of offensive weapons likeTy Dennis, Darian Ballard and Pat Beaty in the backfield with speed and cuts that put points on the board. It's not a question of which one will one have a 1000 yard plus season, it's will all 3? Jaylan Dennis and Devin Tyler have spent a lot of time pre season spread out wide on opposite sides of the field and if a defense makes the mistake of thinking Kville only keeps the ball on the ground those two can show them how wrong they are! Gore made some awesome completions to Devin last year including a clutch catch in the playoffs where Tyler broke his leg but still held on to the ball. Expect nothing less than the same effort this year from the deep threat specialist. Tyler Martin(all state) Trent Smith and Tyandre Cooper are just three of the big men upfront putting in the grunt work. If you haven't seen TyAndre yet you will see that he has worked hard all summer. He is leaner, faster and stronger! The Defense is ready to go as well. You can bet where ever the ball is Diggles won't be far behind. SMASHMOUTH football is #24 middle name! Then you still have Cleavland and Reeves making things happen and we can't leave out the only kicker in Texas that will tee the ball up, kick it and then be the first one down field to PLANT who ever dares to catch HIS football! Too many play makers to even keep track of? There are some new faces and names that will make their own mark as well. Who? When they turn those lights on tomorrow we'll all find out! Good luck to all these young men and to Coach Neese and his staff.

  2. 1. Press the receivers at the line.
    2. Keep a safety back in coverage
    3. Clock/game management. Keep their offense off the field.

No team has run all over Kville and as good as Rockdale looks I think the Cats will handle them. Disrupt their passing game and let our running backs do what they do. I think that's what it comes down to.

Good luck Wildcats! The whole town is behind you!
  3. Please enlighten the "rest of the world" on what our only weakness is and the needed adjustments that you would make.

First of all by only weakness I was kind of being a smart*** but other than that one Achiles heal they are tough to beat. Outside Kirbyville your going to hear the same thing over and over CAN'T COVER THE PASS. Now against Whitney you had #11 who no one has stopped.
But If YOU, not Rockdale, Not Buna, not anyone else but you, were a Coach going up against Kirbyville please enlighten me as to how you would beat us? Run up the gut? Beat us out to the edge? There is only one intelligent answer and you can bet Rockdale doesn't need your or my help to see it. Now does that mean all is lost. No not even close. As I said we didn't stop the pass against Whitney but we did hang 50 points on them in the first half, we don't jam up the receivers at the line and we've had more pass interference calls than passes batted down. So I stick with what I said. Either make some kind of adjustment in the secondary or just try to overwhelm them on offense. I back the Cats 100 percent and I do think they can move on. I know it would be easier if our pass coverage was a little better. That's honesty, not being negative.
  4. I'm sure Neece will prepare the KATS. ...I think this will be the best team we've faced hands down. Any word on Tyler?

X-rays in the ER last night showed a clean break of his fibula. He went to Beaumont B&J today and is going to be fine. He was in a lot of pain last night but he hung tough. Six weeks and he will be good as new.
  5. Last week Elkwood's star running back (the one with all the impressive stats) found out its not so easy against a hard hitting defense with speed. We also have at least 4 running backs that could have HUGE numbers but the load is spread out so the defense is always chasing a back with fresh legs. Ty still has well over 1000 yards even sharing touches. "What do we do if they shut down the run"? Good question! I guess we will find out when a team does. The best defense we played all year. The team that beat Malakof. They shut our run down to the tune of only 42 points! I will say Whitney is the best passing team we've seen. Mostly because we haven't seen many. Most QBs that have tried to pass ended up on their backs staring up at the lights. Whitney has a QB with a great arm. Looking at the stats he has two main targets #11 and then #23. A wide receiver I assume a deep threat. And a running back I assume short or screen passes. Kville has plenty enough speed and talent to get it done. IMO it will come down to game prep by Kville. Can two offensive threats beat us? I guess we will see.
  6. Whitney has some surehanded WRs from what I see, QB not too shabby, but their D leaves alot to be desired.

Kville by 2 TDs in a possible shootout.

According to Maxpreps one (#11) receiver has over 1600 yards the next in line is their running back (#23) with over 1000 yards. Those are the two to worry about. Contain them and keep the pressure on the QB and it will be a good night.
  7. My only concern would be our pass defense. This team averages 375 yards passing a game. Spread teams want you to blitz hard then cut you to pieces on short passes. The Wildcat running game is hard to stop but they have to make some kind of adjustment to stop the pass on D. Pressure alone is not going to cut it.
  8. ahhh dang! and I have been picking Kirbyville this whole time! I knew I should have waited for rednblue to watch some internet film of Kirbyville before I started running my mouth!

May be he can tell me where to check out some of them high tech moving pictures on them Elks. All I can find is the band. They do look tough though!
