  1. Which touchdown? Pretty sure it was announced when it happened.
  2. My take..... There will always be something that affects a football roster. Back to football if we can. If rosters stay the way they were, I don't care of the situations. The difference in this game would be whether or not Silsbee Offense can find it's rhythm. The defense will do it's thing and create opportunities. Can Silsbee sustain a 4th Qtr now? Can Silsbee gain its identity? They are a young defense, but 6 weeks in it's time to put that excuse to bed and make the adjustments. Can WOS survive its own bite? Is this that year? Crazy district shakeup? Every team has it's challenges. I for one am looking forward to this game. Time to ball.
  3. Harsh.... You never know. Might like the new guys.
  4. Please tell me, I'm not the only one..??
  5. There were several things during this game that kept the score marginal. The Bobcat offense was solid. Took advantage of every opportunity that was given. Along with their motivation it was a good game to watch. That is how you win football games. Capitalizing on opportunities. Silsbee did not perform well in second half by a long way. It is definitely a concern down the road if they plan on turning the season around to try and make a run.. It was a great win by Orangefield and definitely pits this district on notice to not take any team lightly. Jmo
  6. For those who are following these short interviews Week 4 Re-Cap & Week 5 Pre-View against Orangefield is covered in this weeks sitdown with Silsbee Tigers HFC Randy Smith. Conversation is 20 min long and Coach Smith discusses the Pleasant Grove game and his thoughts about that game, some special teams discussion and then a quick overview of the upcoming game with Orangefield Bobcats. To all those who have viewed and listened to these short conversations I appreciate it. It is a work in progress. #TigerNation
  7. Few things... 1) Silsbee Defense has continued to get better. There conditioning has improved 3fold since the Vidor game. That along with some key additions to help rotate out the DLine has made this defense even faster. 2) The weather. It will not be hot. That one thing I believe is gonna be a difference and could well make this young defense even more dynamic. 3) Vidor had excellent field position the whole game and the long 8+ minute drive in the fourth qtr that put a nail in Tigers energy. I dont expect that to be the case tonight but Silsbee Special Teams has tested the young Tigers defense in some tough spots early in their schedule. They must play better in these key situations to advance deep. It will be a great litmus test for the Tigers to see just where they are and how much they have improved because Orangefield brings a lot of returning players to the field. Look forward to the game and best of luck. #TigerNation
  8. My apologies. Quoting your post was probably not the best approach to the topic, but my attention was to point out that nothing cost Silsbee those games other than the level they were playing at the time. Both losses were due to loss of focus and conditioning. Not a good combination for young players. The "accept it" phrase was not directed at you personally. Just addressing the number of statements that placed blame on anything but the reasons I just mentioned. And yes, we are on the same team. #TigerNation
  9. Several things about this statement. (1) Silsbee lost. Youth played a big part. Accept it. (2) Silsbee Coach does not prevent the QB from running. QB choice most of the time. 3) WR depth is deep. Not sure of best players not playing because the ones on field during these games are pretty dang good. Jmo
  10. Not sure what you are saying... C. Tyler was a special back. He broke more 70 yd TD runs than I have ever seen, I think he had three of those in a game once. Back on topic. We said that there hasn't been many backs, if any, since Tyler who had that amount of carries in a game. Dodd has done it back to back games.
  11. Silsbee had Calvin Tyler first year of Smith. One slip at the goal line and another trip on defense sealed it. Then the calls for poor coaching, etc started rolling in. Again, some are just not patient and even worse never satisfied.
  12. It doesn't happen overnight. Look at the first couple years from Silsbee's coaching change, though few would wanna go back to some of those comments. Though there will always be haters. Lol.
  13. That is exactly what Coach and I discussed offline. Dodd actually had 34 carries against Nederland as well. It is a quiet performance that most dont recognize.
  14. I know it's an honest question. Lol. Still click bait.
  15. Dodd had 280+ and gave way to Martin for most of 4th Qtr. Designed game plan from point of view to cement run game execution for district, mostly Slot T teams. Two plays would have given Brisbane close to 200 yds passing: Cartwright TD Called back and Miller incompletion would have turned this game into another 28+ lead going into 4th Qtr. Not sure of exact number but id be surprised if PG had 200 yds total offense and that is with the 70 yd screen TD late.
  16. Click bait. Loaded question for your own ego.
  17. I have seen no shade towards Carthage anywhere. Quite the opposite really last few years and a few "fans" have diminished the good conversations I've had over the years when Silsbee & Carthage meet up. Success is a double edged sword, and I suspect some will disappear when fortunes change. Sad.
  18. Thats the thing I'd point out...Silsbee probably isn't a title contender but there is a good chance that Silsbee will end a contenders run to that same title.
  19. It looks fine. Will be a good season for this young team.
  20. Yep. Kept that safety rolled over to his side to cut off the slant/post. But by doing that opened up the right side for Dodd/Martin all night.
  21. Silsbee's depth at WR was gonna be difficult to get playing time for everyone this early. It is football though anything could have happened w/ Covid, injuries, etc. Hate to hear this.
  22. To those who might be interested: Week 3 Re-Cap of the Silsbee @ Nederland Game chat with HFC Randy Smith. Short Interview that also includes a brief look ahead to Silsbee vs Pleasant Grove in Nacogdoches on 9/17/21 @ 7:00 PM. We are making small changes to this format when possible to improve the content so Comments and Ideas are welcome, but be civil. 😉
  23. No freebies during those district days.
  24. The real kicker is when they can field a college level offense against those teams that play both ways. It is what it is. No complaining just play. Lord knows those teams will show you no mercy on the road to the ship and if Silsbee had that level/caliber of talent then it would be the same.
