I like our chances if we play pedal down for 4 qtrs w/no huddle hurry up offense. We can score quick but have tendences of letting up when we get a comfortable lead.Nobody has a hotter hand than Herrera now w/2,806 pass yds,702 coming in the playoffs.Herrera now w/9 playoff games and has 5,863 pass yds in 2 3/4 seasons for 46 tds=16 ints.Best kicker in 4a setting records w/a year to play 8)
I don't think scoring quick would be in Dayton's favor. Because this Manvel team is fast paced and would love if they got a shootout. I think if Dayton can hold on to the ball and get results out of those long time consuming drives then they can win the game, but if it turns into a shootout then I would have to go with Manvel. But if it comes down to field goals then I put my lifetime earnings on Dayton  :)
2. Dawson pretty much ran through there schedule until they played good teams (Manvel and La Marque). They both had great defenses. I've heard Nederland has a great defense, if that is the case then I pick Nederland to win. Just gonna have to score atleast in the 20's.

After the death of Vidor's Head Football Coach J.R.Jones, Philip Brown Vidor's AD hired Nolan Viator in late 1986. Viator coach at Vidor for the 1987 and 1988 seasons.  Viator left Vidor and guess where he went?  ANGLETON as their Head Coach.
Is he still there Head Coach?
No Coach Ryan Roark is in his 1st year
5.
Giving up 36 points to wheatley??? It should be a good game.
Yeah it was a shame giving up that many too a HISD school but their QB who is a colorado commit was legit. He had a hand in all the TD's. Had 2 td passes where he ran around for a lil while and then just found a whole and chunked it there for a score. Had 2 amazing runs over 50 yards where he just found a hole and took off. Then when Angleton had the backups in there for some reason they were passing and the same kid had 2 pick 6's 1 for 100 yards and the other for 75.
6. Angleton has 4 backs that average 8 yards per carry, with 3 having having over 50 carries. I never said they have returned a kickoff for a td every game. Impossible when other teams pooch kick every kick. Only team to not pooch kick every time was Dayton and I'm sure you know why that is. But I can tell you the kicks that have been returned by the deep man have been taken to the house. Obviously I know they are a predominately running team but like I said only 2 have beaten Angleton in the last 4 years, never did I say they lost to the only 2 running teams they faced. The middle will never be soft because the 2 LB's sit in the middle with the outside help coming from the safeties. Angleton will pound the ball up the middle with Richard Cooper who has 802 yards and averages  8.62 yards per carry and then switch it up with  Ryan Jackson (UofH commit) who has over 1500 yards and averages 9.85 yards a carry. Those will be the main 2 that will get the carries in Angleton's Wing T offense. But they rotate 4 backs that will not lose a step at all. Oh yea don't count out QB T.J. Austin who has thrown for over 1300 yards with 19 td's to 4 int's. I'm just not sure Vidor has faced the speed that Angleton is going to come with but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
7. Angleton is very well coached. Coach Roark is arguably the best coach Angleton has had in the last decade and could go beyond that. They do a good job of holding on to the ball and the QB is pretty accurate. 19td's to 4 ints. This is going to be a hard nosed, smashmouth football game.
8. I'm curious too see how Coach Roark will adjust the defense for this game becuase the 'Cats base defense is a 4-2-5 so i'm sure they will drop one of the safeties down to the middle with the LB's. Angleton has a very good LB group. Correct me if I'm wrong but Vidor runs the ball from under center right? Because one problem Angleton has always had was stopping the run from the spread and especially has always had trouble with athletic QB's just like last night. But one good thing is that you won't see many players playing both ways for them. Occasionally Ryan Jackson will come in and play some defense but only on obvious passing downs.
9. When i ask about offense line I'm talking speed and size wise because Angleton i think has one true lineman on the dline and other then that they rush speeds guys off the edge who have average lb size.
10. But do you think they will stop Angleton's offense. Just talking football, how is Vidors offense line?
11. Oh trust me I have not once said Angleton's defense is going to stop Vidor because they won't but hopefully they surprise me, this game will most definitely be a shootout and in a shootout Angleton will win.

The same stats that people over in the Golden Triangle always pointed out but now that a team from that area is making a run, ya'll aren't pointing those stats out. Why is that? Angleton is a dang good team and if they play a complete game this game will not be close. They will hit you from different angles on offense. But now if they play like they did last night (Which is the worse they have played all year) then Vidor will win by a td. But Angleton is going to score 30+ and they will score quick and will score often. And don't kick the ball past the middle row on Kickoff's or it will be returned for a td. Every team for some reason has decided atleast once to kick it deep and it has been returned for 6. Dayton is the exception because every kickoff hit the field house  :)
Hope you stand by that because you just may be eating those words in a week.
I have no problem eating my own words. If you wanna run with Angleton for a whole game then Angleton will win. Angleton has only lost twice to predominately running teams in the last 4 years and those losses were to Central in '08 (which needed a last second screen pass to win) and El Campo last year.

14.
Ive seen Angleton play a few times & their athletic & fast.  With that being said they're probably the easiest undefeated team to beat IMO.  Make'em pass and key the run.  GAME OVER.
Go ahead and make them pass, the QB has only  thrown for over 1300 yards and is completely accurate. 19 td's to 4 int's. Angleton has a passing game that can win games so don't count out the passing game.
15.
How many Pirate fans were at this game? 8000+? I don't care who the home team is on paper against Angleton because we will be. This is a total community effort and you know it has to affect those kids on the field.
Guess you never been to a Angleton playoff game. Last week when we played at Robertson there was 11k there just on the Angleton side and even last night there was no room on the Angleton side. But I can guarantee that there will not be a empty seat at GPISD. When Angleton played Central there in '08 they had the place full within 20 minutes after they opened the gates.
16. [Hidden Content] Angleton gave up too many big plays and the box score obviously shows that. I have questioned this Defense all year and has said it will ultimately be their down fall. But too defend them a little the last 2 scores for Wheatley came via int returns for td's. Why Angleton was passing with their back ups in, no body knows. But take away the 2 pick 6's then Angleton could have put up 80.
17. First things first if Angleton plays how they did tonight they will lose, they played real sluggish. But I think if they play like they can, then they can win. But don't think Jackson is the main guy. Cooper has really came along and is running the ball really well. TJ Austin can throw the ball real well so don't sleep on the passing game. But I will go with Angleton. Anybody kno the location and time?
18. Angleton dominated Friendswood and they played a real good game. Defense stepped and played good and forced 6 turnovers. This team is definitely a team to reckon with in Region 3. Boxscore [Hidden Content]
19. Angleton Coach Ryan Roark has did an excellent job this year in his 1st year at Angleton. Not many knew what to expect coming into this year with the 'Cats but he took this team 10-0 for the first time since '82. Out of the 10 games only 2 were close till the end. He has took a usually one dimensional team from years past and turned them into a balanced team. Can't quite remember when was the last time Angleton had a thousand yard passer who is real accurate with 16 td's to only 3 interceptions. This will be a team to reckon with in R3, that is if they make it out of the 1st rd. Because depending what Friendswood does than they are looking at a rematch of last year 1st rd game with Dawson. But if Friendswood wins then they get Friendswood the 1st rd which will be a rematch of the first game of the year in which Angleton won 42-28
20. The game was never close from the get go. Literally, Angleton returned the opening KO 87 yards for a td. They put up 27 up in the 1st qrt and never looked back. At the half it was 41-0. The Defense had another solid outing for the 2nd week in a row, yeah it wasn't against a great opponent but these types of games gives kids confidence. Now hopefully they can win next week in their final regular season game to finish undefeated for the first time in a very long time. [Hidden Content]
21. this was one hell of a game. Roark went for a 2 pt conversion to win the game in OT. But the defense has to pick it up. One player literally kept Terry in the game. There is no reason why a 6'6 receiver should score 5 td's atleast after the first 2 tds double up on him, but that did not happen. The qb just through the ball too him and he just out jumped the CB and it was never a contest.
22. State ranked teams square off friday night in Rosenberg at Traylor stadium, if Angleton's Defense plays like they have the last 2 weeks then Terry should have no problem and win this game but unless the D shows up then this is going to be a hell of a game. Any thoughts?
23. Angleton yet again had to come back to win this game. The Ricebirds were up 20-0 after the end of the 1st quarter. Angleton then proceeded to score 27 straight unanswered points. Then scored the game winning td with a little over a minute left. The Angleton defense IMO has to stiffen up a little more they are giving up too many yards on the ground and still missing a bunch of tackles. [Hidden Content]
24. Angleton scored 24 unanswered points with 17 in the 4th via 2 defensive td's and a fg. Great win and great start. Next up is El Campo.
25. [Hidden Content] Jackson accounted for 4 td's, 2 in the air and 2 on the ground.
