  1. I know that the majority of the posts on this forum are about the varsity teams for each school, but I would like to give props to the Hamshire-Fannett 9th grade team for their past and recent accomplishments.  Counting their 7th, 8th and 9th grade games played, this group of young men are currently 19-0.  As a father and youth coach of these young men it has been a privilege and honor to work with them and watch them grow as athletes and young adults.  They have a love for the game and are students to their craft.  Everyone knows that anything can happen between 9th grade and 12th grade.  Parents get job opportunities and move, players lose interest and choose to follow different dreams, selection of a single sport over playing multiple sports, and the worst of all INJURY, anything can happen.  These young men have the support of their parents, we will forever be there.  They have an, “I don’t know how to lose attitude.”  Winning like losing is contagious.  The disease is running rampant with this group.  Individually they are just like any other 14-15 year old, but as a team, they have intensity, focus, purpose, and determination.  Will they always be undefeated?  God willing.  Will they always have the support and respect of their parents and the community of Hamshire-Fannett?  Forever and ever.  Gentlemen I would like each and every one of you to know how proud we are of your accomplishments both on and off of the field and that we are here to support you.  We look forward to great things from you throughout your high school career.

Lets be honest, Kendrick is the glue to that 8th grade team at HF. He make makes that team go.

Kenrick is a special player, but without Kendrick that group would still win their games convincingly.

I absolutely disagree with that statement.

If you disagree that this group would still win their games convincingly you know nothing about football.  There are two sides of the ball and while King is without question a powerful force on offence, anyone who knows anything knows that Defense wins championships.  This groups defense swarms their opponents and shuts them down.  King is involved on defense but unless it is a pass play or a break away very seldom needs to get involved.

    8th HF : 28
    Huffman: 7

Really enjoyed watching the boys play last night.  The Huffman QB has to have one of the strongest arms in Junior High in SETX.  Would even include freshman teams.  He put the ball in the air multiple times, all well over 45 yards and was simply out throwing his receivers.  He finally connected with one and resulted in their only score for the evening.  Give him a few years and he could be running their offence as a sophomore.  Fun to watch.  The HF defense was just too strong and contained them.  Longhorn offence is a machine.  Great competition and look forward to playing Huffman next year.

H-F has the best 8th grade team that I've seen

    Thank you for the props.

As a parent, it is always nice to get affirmation of your child’s abilities and accomplishments.  My son is on the line and while typically not a glamourous position, he truely enjoys blocking for our backfield.  I’ve coached and watched this group since they were 5 years old and they are really fun to watch.  They play as a team and have size, speed, and depth.  Thank you again for your comments.
  5. Ok Kendrick is not new to the league.  Talk to anyone who has been around for the last 4-5 years and they know who he is.  If shutting him down is so easy then why hasn't it been done yet.  One against 11 and it does not matter how good he is, a team will not win.  The offensive success of this HF senior team comes down to a simple formula.  We put King on a one on one or one on two situations.  He will win that challenge most of the time.  How do we do this?  The offensive line makes their blocks, the backs pickup their blocks, and King does his job.  I promise you that if King is the only player that our opponents key on, they will be sorely disappointed.  Hein is a powerful fullback and will run over you to get that extra yard.  Craigen is an absolute head hunter; speed, determination and pure athletic ability.  Even when carrying the ball he looks to hit an opponent.  Carter, Myers, Williamson, and Walker are threats that will get 3-5 yards on every carry.  I do not know a coach in the world who would not take these offensive threats.  I agree that any team can be beaten on any given day.  I just do not believe this will happen this year.  I wish everyone the best of luck during Saturday’s games.  Everyone believes it will be Deweyville and HF in the Superbowl, but Silsbee and Warren are not playing Saturday by chance.  We are not taking Silsbee lightly and will give them our undivided attention, before we even consider the Superbowl game.  Again, best of luck to all.
