1.
2009-2010 UIL Football Manual   page: 61-62 Site of the Game All Potential neutral and home sites (town and stadium) should be designated prior to any coin toss. Guidelines Neutral Sites are sites that are approximately mid-distance from the two schools involved or a site or sites the two schools involved agree to designate as a neutral site or sites. Home Sites are those sites near the home school selected by the two schools involved OR the actual home playing field. A stadium selected as the home site, other than the actual home field, should not be an unreasonable distance from the visiting school’s home stadium. Example San Antonio and Dallas have not met in the playoffs for the past 2 years (2007 and 2008): Step 1: Designate potential sites. San Antonio: Belton-neutral; Alamo Stadium-home. Dallas: Temple-neutral; Cotton Bowl-home. Step 2: Flip for type of site (either neutral or home and home). Heads for home and home. Tails for neutral. Comes up heads. Step 3: Flip to see who wins home. Dallas calls tails for home. San Antonio calls heads for home. Comes up tails. Game is played at the Cotton Bowl as the Dallas home site. If say Aledo/Denison wins the coin flip it could be in Cowboy Stadium I guess. Or if Brenham/Kerrville wins the flip it would be in the Alamodome.
Aren't both 5A finals already scheduled for the Alamodome on Saturday?  I think the only way a game would be played there would be on Friday night.  5A games are played at a pre-determined site (currently the Alamodome), but all other classifications use the same site selection method that is used throughout the playoffs - the coin flip!
 2.
Of course this is the same bunch (UIL) that sent us to Pfugerville to play Elgin in last years playoffs. Real neutrl that was, Elgin drove 10 whole miles and we drove 150 miles, so go figure...
I know the UIL is an easy target, but they had no role whatsoever in determining this playoff site.  The two head coaches make that determination - either by joint agreement or by coin flip.  Only the championship games in 5A are set by the UIL.
 3.
say what ya want..Brenham acted like goobers on the field. This isnt dancing with the stars..it's football. The ONLY reason you do the routines and ohhhh ahhhh's and all that jazz is to showboat. I even saw a couple kids injured laying on the field and Brenham queues up their fightsong and cheered. You cant blame the kids for these actions because they are only doing it because they are ALLOWED to. I thought Brenham had a real classy program, however my opinion stands changed.
Well, I'm out of here.  You guys can complain all off-season about those horrible kids from the 'hood - er, Brenham.  Think what you want, but thankfully your team does not have the class - or lack thereof - that you are demonstrating on here.  Each time PNG had an injured player, the Brenham team took a knee.  Did you notice?  I did.  Many where I was sitting also commented it was strange that the Cubs took a knee but the Indian players did not.  No big deal.  Teams have different ways of handling such events.  As for the fight song and cheering - absolutely!  Brenham just made a big play and the fight song was played with gusto.  Did you also hear the band stop in the middle of the song when it became obvious an injured player was on the ground at the opposite end of the field?  No you didn't.  Unfortunately, some people just see what they want to see.  See 'ya.
 4.
Man, I have seen some poor losers in my day, but these Cubs are sore winners. They said in their paper they were motivated by the trash talking PNG fans did leading up to this game. Man if that is the only way you get up for a game I feel sorry for them. I would say the officials were more up for the game than the Cubs were. I have never seen before when you tackle a receiver and not get a penalty. The taunting and the showboats were embarrassment. They looked like thugs in the hood. They also said they were disrespected by the fans from PNG. This also sounds like a bunch of babies to me. If they look for external forces to get motivated and not a desire from the inside of the player, they have a lot to learn about life. I would think you would wish the team that beat you good luck in the future. (You always want to get beat by the best team in the state, it makes you look better if you they win it all). But I don’t see how you could wish these guys good luck in the future. They will get what is coming to them, if they have an honest zebra group that is.
GEEZ!  Now we start playing the race card!
 5.
That man was in the huddle, they called time out because of it. The officials were terrible, that wasn't the only thing they did wrong.
Thanks, Steve.  My question has been answered because I know exactly where that player was.  You obviously do not.
 6.
Team has to break the huddle with 12 men for it to be a violation.  The intent of the rule is to prevent offenses from attempting to confuse defenses.  A situation where a player is confused and runs on the field and then back off realizing he is not in the play is not a foul.  Conceivably, A team can have 30 men on the field as long as only 11 are legally on the field at the snap.
Thanks, Klein.  That's what I thought.
 7. A controversial no-call in the Brenham-PNG game last night regarding this rule.  Can someone with officiating experience answer this:  Is the penalty called for breaking the huddle with 12 men in the huddle or 12 men on the field.  At one point Brenham broke the huddle with 11, but a 12th man was trying to enter the game.  He turned around to come off the field and the Brenham coaches called time out.  The PNG fans & coaches were irate that a time-out should not be allowed to avoid the 5-yard penalty.  Granted, I was on the Brenham side and saw what happened.  The 12th man was never in the huddle, but I'm sure the other side saw what appeared to be an extra player leaving the field.  While the officials' call did not surprise me, I realize I am not exactly clear about the specifics of the rule.  Can somebody tell me if this was an infraction or not? BTW, I was very impressed with the contingent of fans from PNG!
 8.
If it is true that the Brenham Coach would not allow a larger stadium his email address is on Brenham ISD website. A few nice thank you's may be in order, but let's wait until the facts are known. It would be sad to think a coach would stoop so low as to not allow another team to accommodate it's fans in a comfortable manor!
Wait just a minute!  Since when is it ANY head coach's responsibility to accommodate the opposing team's fans?!?!?!? Unless they have changed the rules, these sites are decided one of two ways:  1. mutually agreed upon location or 2. a coin flip.  Based upon that, either PN-G's coach agreed to the Aldine stadium or he lost a coin flip.  If #1 is what happened, then you should be e-mailing your own coach.  If it was #2, more power to the Brenham coach.  He is obligated to look after his team (and fans) not the opponent.  That's the way it's been done in the 40+ years I've been watching Texas high school football.
 9.
I know regarding Angleton, their division is not yet decided. Could know more after Friday Night who will be in the playoffs in alot of the Districts.
Absolutely.  If either Friendswood or Pearland Dawson slips out of the playoffs, that sends Angleton to Division I.
 10. Dayton plays Brenham in 3rd round on their half of the bracket, meaning that PNG would fave Angelton in 3rd round as well. Basically I am calling for an all purple Region III final, only I think it will be a shade of Wildcat Purple vs Bronco Purple!!
I am assuming PNG wins District 20 4A.  Brenham will win 18 4A.  First round:  District 17 runner-up plays District 18 champion.  District 19 runner-up plays District 20 champion.  Second round:  How do we not get Brenham vs. PNG in the second round?!?!?!?!?
 11.
Not "scared" of them, just have a lot of respect... They are the top rated team in Region III, and they will come out of the toughest district in this region (probably undefeated). To get out of this region it seems like they are the team to beat. Still a huge chance they will go into either Division I or Division II. If you scan through the districts in Region III, besides the teams from Angleton's district, and Brenham, there isn't much there. This is the year a team from 19-4A or 20-4A can sneak through this region and make it to semi-finals. If Angleton does go Division II, they would be on the PN-G side of the bracket (20-4A #1 seed) and they would square off in week 3, if both teams keep winning (which I believe would be the case). Dayton's side of the bracket will get Brenham (which I don't think is as good as Angleton).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Brenham, as District 18 4A champions, will be in the same bracket as PN-G and Angleton.  The winner of PN-G/Brenham would most likely face Angleton in the 3rd round.  Probably the 3 top teams in the entire region will hook up early on.  Sometimes it works out that way!
